- Annie Mac is in Sheffield to meet Bring Me The Horizon's lead singer Oli Sykes. He takes her on a tour behind the scenes at the band's studio and opens up about his addiction to drugs, his relationships and his aspirations for the band's future.
Oli tells BBC Radio 1 that Bring Me The Horizon's sixth album "Amo" promises to be a very different record to the five before it. He shares how he came to collaborate with Grimes, his experience with Limp Bizkit and the meaning behind their new music. Видеоклипы
“I found something else to be addicted to and that was music”
That shit warmed my heart 💕
i love how wholesome that was
indeed,Music is the most high
“We want to be associates with people who like music, not a certain genre” perfectly sums up all the people pissed off
But I don't like Bring me the horizon because I like music in general, I like them because of their Metal/Deathcore sound (which they don't do anymore as it seems)
@@debidi1461 exactly...
deBidi bitch that shit you we're listening to was thirteen years ago get over yourself. I mean Image someone coming to you like Hey I liked your'e face in 2003, please go back and change it for me! That's exactly what you Guys are doing
@@debidi1461 They havent done deathcore in who knows how long, yet you are still here.
@@rebe8431 bad example, but music is subjective. Hate it or love. It's all just opinion..
I think he deserves to be happy after all this shit he went through. He deserves to be loved so why can't he write songs about it? We can still go back to There is a hell, if we want, but we have to accept that he is not that depressed anymore. We have to support him to find more happiness cause he seriously worked for it
absolutely
Lets make this to a top comment
Dóri .P jól mondod😛
People just enjoy being sad
You assume extreme metal equates to an extreme outlook on life. There are plenty of metal bands that write goofy or party driven lyrics to heavy music. Oli made a change based on the size of his wallet not his love for music
A lot of people say that Oli looks like he's back on drugs again and I'm totally not getting it. He looks healthier than ever and I actually think that he is really enjoying things right now!
He looks healthier on their last album.
They admitted to smoking some pot during this album- but not hooked on ketamine +
He's healthier, not as skinnier but at a healthier weight
You want healthier than ever? Look at him during summer 2014 or late 2015. THAT'S healthy. He's not necessarily unhealthy now, but he's not where he was then.

Every Annie Mac interview is like a therapy session, I really admire her because she brings out the best in people by building trust
Paola Energya Totally agree! She is kind, knowledgeable and she respects the persons she interviews.
zane lowe and annie are amazing interviewers!
I agree
Deathcore, Metalcore, Post Hardcore, Hard Rock, Pop Rock. This band is so versatile I love it ❤️
just Sony records making them this way imo
Drop Dead itachi, tsukuyomi???what are you doing here hold up lol but very true there very open to everything which makes them pretty good band all together
mike's family I came back from death.
+Drop Dead reanimation jutsu!
James Somogyi exactly making edo itachi, thanks to Kabuto, Which he could get reanimated again in boruto or Maybe even Shisui

Oli seems like a sweet guy 😊 glad he’s happy!
Andy 15 he is well down to earth
he made it through hell and now he’s so happy. i’m really happy for him.
Elizabeth Luna yeah, he’s been through a lot!

Andy 15 yes he is a pretty nice guy I hope to meet him at the next concert and I feel super happy for him he seems really happy now I’m really proud of him I felt pretty sad for him :( ❤️❤️❤️
He seems so down to earth. How nice.
Back then he wasn't. Hahahah!
He loves insulting the interviewer.
@@timothyjamessacay9897 yeah right he seems pissed off most of his past interviews.
Yea but nobody can hate Annie. She's too precious
I love Oli and his openness in this interview
They start off listening to Medicine, then discover Mantra. Then they get into Pray for Plagues.
Then I Used To Make Out With Medusa
@@LillianAredhel that song is overrated now
@@LillianAredhel the RE; they have no reflections
TryHard really? Pray for plague is overrated
Yeah I know that song was written in blood.
This dude is really easy to talk to. Like, I could very well have a "hows it going, bruv" deep dive convo. People should talk more to each other.
Now he is, and this makes me so happy. He barely used to talk back then when he was sadder... Now he's so calm and down on earth, i love this happy Olober version
This band's music is like Harry Potter... you grow with it...
That's... oddly true.
I figured this out years ago. Grew with me. Heard the leak, Amo is fantastic. It still runs true, they grow with you.
I love you for making this parallel.
Cringe

So happy to see him healthy and passionate about his music! That's what really matters, not how heavy the music sounds, but if it has a heart... and it does. :)
@@noname558 I don't remember asking your opinion

I like the band
Ananda Figo I’m super happy for oli as well!! He seems like a nice guy I saw them live at the forum at Inglewood California when it was feb 13th they did amazing!!!
All the ‘amo’ haters need to listen harder to the lyrics, because lyrically, BMTH are the same dark poets they’ve always been.
LeilaLamb it’s not just about lyrics dumbass.
@@user-xw6uh3yp7g it's not just about if its heavy or not too...
Kuran Helix yeah it pretty much is
@@user-xw6uh3yp7g no. Music has different meanings depending on what you want to portray. Can you imagine portraying the same feeling can you feel my heart has in the style of like, mother tongue? Genre affects the song.
No they mostly hated it cause it wasn’t heavy
When oli was talking about how they wanted to create a sort of different album, I felt that for other bands. So many people have bashed BMTH for this album already, and it's the same for Muse, and their album Simulation theory.
The whole different albums are amazing and I'm really enjoying amo. Such a good album and many brilliant thing about it.
Bands aren't always gonna bring out the same music for years on end. Remember that.
Background "Follow You" was so dope
I can listen him talk all day
#MANTRA FOR GRAMMY

Wait til someone digs up that track and uses it as “amo” 😂
''We're going to make the best record ever'' and Sempiternal is definitely one of the best records ever made!
I can't believe they produced TTS in only two months!
GiladNir THANK YOU. I agree
The effort clearly shows... i love the album but there are some lazy uninspired songs on there.
@@Bukku1 I can clearly agree with you on some songs. but for me, at least, this album sticks with me until now like no other album ever.. but that is just me :)

Just don't get depressed, stay alive Oli!! We already lost Mitch Lucker and Chester Bennington, keep on living :)

I love the interviewer here, she's so down to earth and mature, I've almost never seen Oli comfortable with interviewers so shoutout to you, Annie Mac!
I agree haha too late for my comment
Such a shame she's not on Radio 1 anymore, Love Annie
oli seems like such a nice guy. I saw them in Glasgow In November and they smashed It. The new tracks seemed to go down well. buzzin for amo !!!!!!
I was there too! Awesome gig :D
vastmarx I know. I’d go back in a heart beat
I was queuing from 7am for that gig 😂 it was one of the best gigs of my life
Even got jordon’s drum stick at the end of it
clarkyboy123321 no way! That’s amazing. I was right up the front n got bashed about in the mosh pit but it was well worth it. The best atmosphere of any gig I’ve ever been to
Jern Rff the only thing that annoyed me at the gig was the fact people were giving me dirty looks cause I was screaming along to the old songs lyric for lyric 😂
I guess people haven’t heard of their old stuff
I'm grateful that they are continuing to be a band together and make albums.
This is the most comfortable I've seen him in recent interviews, it's so nice to see
Imagine after watching this interview and there are still “fans” mocking his new style in music. Crazy. Sounds fake to me lmao. Anyway, love you Oli. Can’t wait to see you live Monday. ❤️❤️
See you there !
You. Can. Be. A. Fan. And. Not. Like. Certain. Songs. Or. Albums. For. Fucks. Sake.
Sounds pretty fake eating everything up an artist releases just because the artist is who he is, good music is good music, but good artists can make bad music
New style in Music =/= fans gonna love it.
I really like new album but i feel like it's not BMTH, more like TOP.
Yawn. All of you guys’ replies except for Allie can leave. :)
She's a great interviewer, seems really interested in what he's saying. Genuine💗
Oli is soooo much better than in the past. He is clean and happy ❤️
Nihilist Blues is a masterpiece. My favourite.
This band was there for me through the Suicide Season, There Is A Hell, Sempiternal. The whole band was absolutely good, hit the nail on the head.
I'm so happy about what he said about Nihilist Blues, I'm one of those people who don't stick to a certain genre of music. This track was something that flipped a switch in me. Never heard anything like it. AND it's turned me on to Grimes, which is wonderful in it's own right. Thank you so much for this interview. It makes me so happy to watch these interviews and get behind the meaning of these songs and the making of them. Somehow it's so personal.
Same for me. My friends hated each new song more than the one that was released before. I liked each better than the other. And Nihilist Blues is my favourite.
same here. i listen to all kinds of music and genres and i do feel like those who stubbornly stick to one genre are missing out!! i for one love BMTH for this reason, they always change it up, never make the same album, and aren’t afraid to experiment
You know's: 70. Like's: 104. But I love Oli. Glad to know he got married again and he's doing a lot better
It’s funny cause every song at first I felt alittle uncomfortable with and I love everyone of them now
❤ I could listen to him speak for hours. So calming. 😌
I could’ve watched this for so much longer!
Got me so excited and proud for Amo! Loved it
thank you so much for making music and being so open minded
Best comment on here! 🖤🖤🖤
I’m so proud of Oliver and the band as a whole, truly the best live performances I’ve seen. Honestly the Amo tour has been my favorite, his passion is contagious and fuels so many. Thank you BMTH LOVE U GUYS
Long time fan, and I had a smile on my face the entire time watching this interview. Oli looks so happy and he's so down to Earth. Happy to say he's my idol.
He seems so happy and it's honestly really heartwarming
every person who is complaining should watch this
It still sucks
Alexander Lane it really doesn’t
Well I’m glad you enjoy man but as for me it’s a swing and a huge miss
i love oli and the band. their music got me through a lot and im glad to see them still making music and i love their new album, and i can't wait for more from them 💕
I feel a bit bad for laughing at ''I'm gonna learn how to sing''. It caught me off guard
humbling for a guy who "sings" for a living admits he didn't really know how to sing but wants to dedicate himself to getting better. and he has gotten a lot better since his first records so he is def making progress.
@@markassbrownie8133 well, I really hope that in a couple more years he will become a pretty good vocalist
@@markassbrownie8133 You got it wrong. He was doing screams, no signing. Totally different.
@@robvandooren2788 He's been trying to sing since 2013, the screaming has gotten rarer each year then on.
This comment confuses me. I (personally) think he has a good singing voice and scream. Maybe it's just my taste, idk.
lovely interview! so glad the band is doing amazing and well done Annie Mac for your interview skills
He's adorable💙
Stoked for the album, great interview!
They really are the perfect gateway band. They open me up to so many new things
I love how they change their sound every album! It’s good to grow and change and push yourself to do new things. Some “fans” just don’t get that and at the end of their career they’re gonna look back and say they’ve done it all
He seems so happy, I am happy for him ! 💗
So glad I follow this channel. What Oli was saying about a little journey with their music, it's fun sometimes to go in order with their music and just listen to the changes, not just the sound but you can hear the growth.
ugh he's such a pure soul, so glad he's the one i look up to :(
Oli: We want to be the gateway band for people to get into rock music.
Well, at least Oli is honest lol.
why would that be something not to be honest about? I think that's the most amazing thing about this band
Naomi Nnedi are you saying there’s something wrong with it?
That's what happened to me though! I was really into metal and metalcore a few years ago but I kind of grow out of it until I saw BMTH live this summer and they reignited my interest in rock and metal, even if I don't listen to very heavy stuff anymore lol
Daiana same
This interview has such a calm vibe, I love it.
I’m so proud of Oliver and the band they’ve really came along way!!!! :) ❤️❤️❤️
So happy to see oli is happy and loves making music again cant wait for amo😋
I think they should make a song called do you know what I mean and like
in mother tounge there’s literally lyrics that read
“i think the best way to describe it is like... yeah like that but more like... like... like”
kasualkahal really wtf aha 😂
Oasis beat them to it
Because that’s his actual mother tongue
Just how Yorkshire people speak

I AM SO PROUD OF HIM
Great interview, very insightful to how and why the bands music has evolved, with Oli's renewed love of music. I personally love the direction of the new material. Well done BMTH for having the courage to change your musical style in the face of public backlash

one of the best interview questions loved it
I needed this, it cleared up a lot of questions I had on my mind about oli and the band in general. I had so many questions to ask when I saw them at the signing/release but I was too shy haha
i proud of them
There so many "you know"
D'yonaughtmeen?
It's a Yorkshire mannerism to say "y'know" in like every sentence lol
It’s cause some people are just bad at explaining themselves or impatient. I have that problem because there’s just no need to explain yourself on everyday tasks such as taking a shower, eating breakfast at 1:00pm, etc. Putting myself in their shoes I would overuse that phrase dramatically lol
Theres ALWAYS been
Alina Urbansky It’s the equivalent of Americans saying “like” in every sentence :)
What a lovely dude this guy is. I have much respect for him and the band and the progress they've made. I remember when they first came out when I was young and I couldn't stand the music haha. Now I stick them on every once in a while and would gladly to go one of their gigs. Great interview!
Awwwwh bless him, I love this guy x
You guys really prefer depressed and drugged up Oli... pretty selfish
jarod gonzalez VERY selfish
For real, disgusting
We prefer music with emotion and meaning. Like he was on about TIAH was the worst point in his life, that's where masterpieces like Crucify Me came from. The recent 2 singles have been basic top 40 pop songs with Olis voice
HOLY SHIT ANOTHER JAROD SPELT THE SAME WAY
@@StephenIC But isn't that morally wrong to enjoy from one's product of creativity when they were suffering? I sure understand where you're coming from, as music should come with a soul. But the way you put it, I don't think I can personally agree on......
Thus, I do think the meaning in the lyrics on the new songs are rather deep and produced with high quality (which is VERY RARE in these days).
Saw these guys supporting so many bands when they were starting out, I must have seen them booed/bottled off stage mid set atleast 4 times, there was a vicious bandwagon of hate towards them early on. Always said fair play to em for keeping at it, Medusa was a cracking track live with the right crowd.
Good to see how far he has come and how much more happier he seems, doing what he loves. People could really take inspiration from him.
Oli has grown up so much since I found them in 2012 and I honestly am really proud of him
I feel like my music taste has evolved with Bring Me. I found them when I was 13/14 years old and now I’m 19 and here we are. I adore heavy music and possibly even demonic sounding vocals but I don’t really have a set taste I guess. The depressing music I found as a kid struck a chord with me as a depressed kid and as Bring Me have evolved to how they are now, it’s really helped me to figure myself out. Now the new song for Death Stranding has linked me to a game full of soft indie music aswell (although I liked alt-j and bands like them before) I’ve now found more music to fill my soul with. Thank you guys for being you. ❤️❤️❤️
Follow You breakdown is a bit too loud on the background but the interview is amazing!

I'm so glad I've got themselves drug Free and they start to enjoy the music again and Oli Sykes I am so glad you got your marriage back on track keep up the good work guys loving all the music
SHE COULDVE ASKED ABOUT HOW IS IT FEEL TO BE NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY OR SOMETHING
Loved it!
Annie mac is seriously such a good interviewer. So relaxed and comfortable
you could literally make a drinking game out of Oli saying "you know what I mean" lmao. The album isn't for me, but I respect the choice that has been made. He's healthier now and that's all that matters.
i wish more fans could be like you, there’s no need to trash a band just because the music they’re making doesn’t appeal to you personally.
I like BMTH then and now. They play another type of music I like.
