- Opening My Sealed Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction Locked N’ Loaded The Ultimate Fn Box Set.
Today on The Vinyl Record Mission I’m unsealed all 14 records in my 2018 Guns N Roses Appetite For Destruction Locked N’ Loaded Edition Ultimate Fn Box Set.
I had to buy that monster box shortly after they came out. I'd never seen such an over-the-top set before and just had to have one. So much cool content. I think I only paid about $250 for it so I consider that a steal. Those zeroes on your certificate are very interesting.
@@davidlinklater7066 Hi David. You got a screamin’ deal on that AFD box set! Congrats! Yeah that 00000 certificate is highly unusual. The content inside is outstanding. Enjoy and thank you for sharing your experience with us. 🤘🏽
@@TheVinylRecordMission I've had that set for a few years and did not know about the hidden cassette until watching your video. So thank you. Not that I have anything to play it on but it's always cool to find a buried treasure.
This is one of the sickest and most impressive box sets I've yet seen. I love music collections like this and it's pretty amazing. If I had the cash I would probably buy it as an investment to resell later. Although, I would only sell it if I felt I needed to. Otherwise, I'd let it sit as a wonderful showroom collection.
Thank you, Francois! I really dig it! It’ll get passed down to my daughter who loves music as much as I do. They really out did themselves putting this package together. Everything from 4 different formats, vinyl, CD, digital thumb drive and cassette and so much memorabilia too! Thank you for the kind words and sharing your enthusiasm with me. Cheers!
Steve
I think you’re letting the sealed record haters get to you too much, you’re expunging yourself simply for having them, way too much man. The answer is whatever you believe in your heart.
@@arzabael What’s happening, Arzabael. Na. Nobody gets to me. I just love playing it up. They can have their feelings. I’ll express mine. Amen to your last sentence. The heart is where all the answers lie. Appreciate you, young brother. ✌🏽👍🏽🫶🏽
@@TheVinylRecordMission heck yea man.
OMG, I had no idea that cassette was back there! I’ve only had my set a few months but completely missed it.
So glad we could help! The cassette is a really cool piece to own! Enjoy your amazing AFD Box Set! Thank you for watching and commenting. ✌🏽
You miss the Easter egg in the box set. If you go back and take out the second drawer from the top and reach in, you’ll find another little box that contains a demo tape check it out. It’s really cool.
I did show the Easter Egg (Demo Cassette) in the video at 33:15 in. Did you see the number on my certificate of authenticity? Mine is 00000 of 10000 copies. Pre release we believe, promo or for executives? Thanks for watching and commenting. ✌🏽
0000 are promos...nice@@TheVinylRecordMission
That is one beautiful box set.
Thank you, Tony. It truly is a special piece. ✌🏽
You're lucky to own that. I agree, they're the best LA band. They did a great job with all the 7-inch singles.
Thanks, Mark. Ryan has 6 more sealed of these 😳😂
@@TheVinylRecordMission I know - I saw them in his garage. Amazing!
Nice Job Steve glad all worked out positively. Ya gotta give a lot of credit to all those involved in putting that Monster Box together. Not only great music but all those other goodies well worth it.
Thanks, Dan! It wasn’t easy fitting’ it all in under 30 minutes. I did my best. I really wanted to read all the credits. However there’s 25+ people to acknowledge 😂. Would have been a 45 minute video lol. Thanks for the kind words. ✌🏽
Hey Steve - Wow, what a box set! So cool that everything is in great shape. I enjoyed the journey through the box!
Thank you, Buddy! It was challenging to show everything in that box set and speak about it without making an hour long video. I’m glad you enjoyed it. As always, thank you for the kind words. ✌🏽
What a sick box set !!! I'm not into many deluxe sets, a copy of Appetite For Destruction would be good to add to my collection !
Thank you, JT. This one crossed my path and I couldn’t pass it up. It’s my only box set and my last lol. 😂
Your like me then, I prefer single LP's.. Although a desirable box like that is very cool to have ! I still like my Guns n Roses Appetite on Cd, so I can blast it loud in my car ! 😎
@@jtsrecordroom3963 AFD is great car driving music, in my midlife crisis corvette 😂🤣. Just kidding I drive a Dodge Ram 1500.
Just as good in a Dodge Ram 1500 or a Vette !!
I wish I would’ve known about this box set. When I did find out the only thing available were the CD box set.
Thanks Steve for showing off this amazing box set.
Hi poets dream! it was my pleasure to share this amazing box set. Guns N’ Roses will forever be one of my favorite LA rock bands, especially as it was during a very influential time of my life. The CD box is also pretty amazing from what I’ve heard. Thank you for the kind words. ✌🏽
32:16 "This is a bandana... I probably wont open that." That's probably the one item in PVC packaging that will offgas everything 😅
What a gorgeous set- glad to see it worked out! I have the pedestrian CD box; scored it off Discogs sealed for $25 (yes, i opened it 😉 ) Great vid and congrats! 👏👏
Hi Leonard. Ha ha ha. I did take the bandanna out of the PVC packaging before putting it back into the box. The thought immediately crossed my mind as I was putting everything back into the box that the bandanna would be the only thing left that had PVC and could potentially off gas. Can you imagine my entire box set destroyed by a bandanna lol!
Not this guy!
That’s a great deal on the CD box set. I’m sure it sounds amazing. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. ✌🏽
Thanks so much for taking methrough this killer set✌️🤘
The pleasure was all mine, DBD. I’m glad you enjoyed it. There is so much killer stuff in this box set. Appreciate you! ✌🏽
Great to see no sealed shenanigans inside the shrink on such a big time box set. 😮💨
I was impressed to see they didn’t use PVC inner sleeves. It was well thought out.
DUDE..! sorry I'm late🤘 edit: that thing is so massive and beautiful.. Holy gee, I wanna live in it 😁
😂😂
Our collection has no shrink wrap, no aftermarket outers, only aftermarket inners(when necessary). Love to see you shitcanning that shrink wrap man. We also have that same “AFD” box set! It’s as immense as it is awesome!
No outer sleeves? That means you leave all your records in their original album covers naked? Are you not concerned with ring ware or splitting seams from taking the vinyl in and out of the covers?
@@TheVinylRecordMission
Yeah, our records are naked. We have less of an issue with static and we kinda enjoy that we can so easily access the records. No noticeable ring wear and any split seams are from records we have received in that state. We like that you can just grab our Supersuckers gatefold and just unfold it. It’s weird but it’s our collection.
@@francisswings I respect your choice. In fact it sounds truly liberating. To be free of all the extra cost and worry sounds wonderful. Enjoy your collection and happy listening. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ✌🏽🫶🏽
This was a cool video I have issue number 5 love it enjoy
Thank you Rick! Enjoy 🤘🏽
Somebody somewhere with a stack of rare album covers is bound to have put Herb Alpert records in them, shrink-wrapped them and sold them as still sealed. Or maybe had rare albums with mint covers and scratched records so shrink-wrapped them. I used to work at HMV and half my day was shrink wrapping CD's and records. They liked it done a certain way so I had to learn how to get the seam in the correct place etc. Once I'd practised a few weeks a got pretty exceptional at it.
lol I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten a few of those over the years. I’ve heard of that unfortunate practice before.
What's up Steve!
Good to see you well. I started watching one of your videos and I'm thinking you look familiar and then I looked at your avatar and I remembered I did the Record Stores Across America video for your store over 7 years ago. Really digging your vids!
Coreyyyyy!!!! What’s happening buddy!!! So great to hear from you! I hope you’re doing well. Thanks for reaching out. I hope you enjoy our content. Too bad things didn’t work out with the brick and mortar. Our love for music and vinyl will never die! ✌🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Steve the other two members-guitarist Izzy Stradlin & drummer Steven Adler. I definitely agree who grew up when they first appeared & love their music they have & will go down as one of the greatest iconic rock-n-roll bands ever. I was born in 1975 so when that album came out blew me away. I’m still listening to them & band like or influenced by them I am still listening to-will be turning 50 in March and there were people who said to me that that music is just a phase & you will grow out of it….Well I turn 50 in March and I still have the long hair & listen to GNR as I did back then now….so how about that phase I would grow out of? 🤔🤨😎🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸🎸💿💿
@@MetalGreggNY75 Right on, Greg! I love to hear that! GNR will forever have a special place in my heart! Now that you mention the other two band member names I remembered them. Thank you for sharing their names with me. Rock on 🤘🏽 brother man! Thank you for sharing your story and watching the video. ✌🏽🤘🏽 🤘🏽 💪🏽🫶🏽 🎸
Nice boxset.
I had an original copy of Appetite for Destruction with the robot sleeve, i sold it though because i never played it.
Hi Rob. I also have a copy of the censored cover, but I’ve never had the OG raping robot sleeve. That’s a hard one to come by. I understand selling a rare record because you don’t listen to it anymore. One day I hope to be able to begin doing that. I can find myself collecting records, not just for my own listening pleasure but for the listening pleasure of my friends, family members or anyone who happens to come over to our home. When they if I have such and such an artist? I like to be able to say yes I do. lol 😂
It’s kind of silly, I know. Thank you for the kind words about the box set. It really is a treasure trove of Guns N’ Roses music and memorabilia. Take care, Rob. ✌🏽
Hi, the biggest cause of the misting/hazing is the shrink-wrap which on many LP's are PVC. I had the wife of a fellow record collector friend of mine, whose wife is a scientist working in the plastics field analyze some shrink-wrap from a number of records and she found that all of them had varying amounts of PVC in the plastic mix. She states that the shrink-wrap has a mix of PVC because it makes the shrink cheaper and glossier. I am now going to remove the shrink of every still sealed LP I have. These are only still sealed because I have not gotten around to listening to them yet. The joys of being a record collector. Ah well keeps us busy, I guess.
Hi Peter, I agree with you 100%. I agree that anything made from petroleum products can’t be good for our records. As found by your friends wife even small trace amounts of PVC in shrink wrap can overtime off gas. I’m in the process of removing all the shrink from my records, sealed and unsealed records. If there is shrink wrap on it, it’s getting removed. it’s going to take a while to go through my entire collection but in the end, it will be worth it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to watch the video. Take care. ✌🏽
i have similar problem as for numbers, I don't know how many of mine are still in shrink, not too many I hope, but with about 12,000 LPs it is going to be a painful experience. Its life. An Australian politician, Malcolm Fraser, once said in response to his harsh draconian financial policies "Life Was Not Meant To Be Easy". I do like your ideos.
@@peterrech2307 Agreed 👍🏽
Appetite is one of the greatest rock albums ever. I have two real issues with the vinyl release. The first is the choice to not use all four sides of the vinyl and instead opting for image on the forth side. GNR made sure that sides A and B played in a particular order. The smart choice would have been to end disc one with Paradise and start the second disc with My Michelle.
My other issue is the mix of this release is a mess and at times unlistenable. Everything is mixed way too loud and the high notes are so harsh that by the time I got to My Michelle I put on the CD because the mix was much more natural.
I totally see where you’re coming on this. I could’ve done without the holographic sided record too. I wish they would’ve stuck to GNRs intentions. I would have still bought it knowing they committed a Cardinal sin lol. ✌🏽
Cool brother
Rock on and stay blessed
You know it brother Joey! Rock steady baby! Blessings back at you! ✌🏽💪🏽✊🏽
Nice box set. I nearly bought a banned cover Appetite a few months ago. They wanted £60 for it here in England which is an ok price but it had too many creases and dings on the cover for my liking including a split down the spine. It did however sell pretty quick for the full price so somebody must have thought it was good enough. To me another 20 or 30 quid and you could order a fairly minty copy but it's that seeing it in the wild that almost sucked me in. Thanks for showing the box it's very cool.
I’m like you, Brian. I’d rather pay a little more for a better copy. They are tough to find in the wild. I’m glad they included the original cover art on the gatefold cover and a poster of it. It’s one of those historical moments where pop culture clashes with cancel culture. Music history is also fun to collect. Thanks for the kind words, Brian. ✌🏽
I bought the appetite for destruction robot rape cover a couple of weeks before seeing them at monsters of rock donnington park. It’s still NM & NM 36 years later. An epic day forever in my memory
@@bdi8541 Right on! Congratulations!
great box set
Thank you, Carjo. ✌🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That's what you call a box set haha. I've never seen one that large. I've always wanted to find the Led Zeppelin can set. I can't remember what it's called really but I know it's pretty heavy and I believe the records come in the cans like reels of film.
Steve, have you got a good method for describing how to tell if a inner sleeve is PVC or polyethylene? I've had a few records that seemed to be pretty easy to tell that the inner sleeve wasn't polyethylene and I think it was PVC. The sleeves were a little tougher and I don't think they wrinkled either? I can't remember for sure though. But something just seemed different about them in their feel and look.
I'm kind of worried about missing one and thinking it's polyethylene but yet it's really PVC. Do you have any tips on how to tell for sure?
Thanks for doing these videos. You got me to realizing I'm going to have to go through all of my albums and find the ones that I think did have PVC sleeves. The reason is I put the PVC sleeve back in the record cover and then of course I'd use a polyethylene inner sleeve for the record and put it into the polyethylene outer sleeve cover on the back side of the album. I wasn't thinking that the PVC would do anything to the record then. But it definitely sounds like it can. It can go through the album covers and still off gas and ruin the record and I wasn't aware of that until your videos.
Thanks if you are able to provide any tips on confirming if a sleeve is PVC or not.
Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
Hi Brian. I know the Led Zeppelin Box Set you speak of and it’s a lot more money than this GNR box set. You can usually tell PVC based products by their thickness. PVC inner sleeves and outer sleeves are thick and more ridged than polyethylene. You definitely want to rid of all PVC inners and outters. It’s a daunting task but will be worth it in the end.
@@TheVinylRecordMission Thanks for the reply Steve and I started yesterday. It's a shame that I knew better than to use the PVC sleeves so I didn't. But at the same time I kept them inside of the album covers which was the wrong thing to do 🙂 It should be a lot easier for me to find the PVC sleeves since I know they won't be on the LPs and they should likely be in either the box sets or album sleeves.
Hey Steve...not a huge fan of the band, but if I were, I couldn't live without having this. Kudos to those involved into putting this together with so much thought for the Guns 'N' Roses fans! What a presentation! And I don't think one could call this a money-grab by any stretch at $500 - it appears that fans really got their money's worth with this set. (Curious...does Ryan have one of these too? - If not, would you have traded it for that Elvis 45 if he had asked?) Best to you both.
Hi M2M. Believe it or not I rarely listen to this kind of music anymore. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own it because of its sheer uniqueness and abundance of featured items. The band does have a special place in my youth. Ryan has 6 or 7 of these box sets. I got mine from him lol. That little brother of mine has some crazy finds! Great chatting with you. ✌🏽
Steve
the original price was $1000. $500 was (one of) the discounted price(s) when they didn't sell.
@@billymuellerTikTok Hi Billy. Thank you for clarifying. I wasn’t quite sure of the release price. It is shocking to me that they didn’t sell out at $1000 a pop. Thanks for checking out the video and contributing. 🤘🏽 ✌🏽
@@TheVinylRecordMission I grabbed it at $500 a few years ago and I saw it dropped even lower than that
Where did you get that t shirt???? Absolutely have to get me one!!!!!

If I never hear another GNR song anywhere it will be to soon.
@@Plextortion 😂😂 I feel you. I have the same feelings for many groups and songs as well. I will rarely listen to this box set. At one point in my life, when I was 18 years old, I couldn’t get enough of GNR. But like all good things, it came to an end eventually. Now it’s more for the sake of nostalgia than listening. ✌🏽
I watched a video a while ago Steve where a guy opened a ton of sealed vinyl and quite a lot of his gatefold sleeves had stuck themselves together. He tried to separate one and it just ripped it was not good.
Hi Brian. What a disappointment for that guy. I’m hoping I don’t experience that as I continue opening all my sealed records.
Hey bud still waiting for the verdict on how many out of the 200 are damaged. Still gonna guess less than 5
I’m far too busy to give a timeframe on that. I may even decide to sell some of the sealed records and only open the ones I’m going to keep.
@@TheVinylRecordMission I see my friend, I look forward to following along with whatever you do do
Would anyone argue that a sealed record is worth less than an unsealed record? Just yes or no, and don’t be an overly technical contrarion
