You've got to give Andy Williams' stage orchestra some credit for this lovely performance. Evocative, emotive, perfectly in-tune. The percussion's emulation of a clock ticking to reinforce the passing of time motif. No rushing, seemingly effortless but from way down in the emotions.

His range of octaves were off the charts. If anyone views Finn from wings of Pegasus, he does a analysis of Bobby doing this song, the range was 20+ octaves. Bobby was a blessed individual with such a god given voice with no vocal training. The bit with Bill saying "I didn't think it would be a hit" was a joke of course...they both wanted to do it, but Bobby is said to have "won a coin toss".
They each had "solos" throughout their time together.
The original song back in 1955 was so popular, that 3 different artists charted with it.

I loved your reaction. It is a classic, beautiful song. No one can match this, no matter how many try to cover this. I'm so glad you reacted to it.

I like it that you let the song finished without pausing. Not that pausing is no good, but....Great reaction coming from a guy. Most gal reactors would hold their hearts, fan their faces with their hands, smile and even cry. They just get swept away with emotions by this love song. I can understand why. I always enjoy watching their faces.
Many great singers tried to cover this song. But none could own it like Bobby, not even Elvis, in my opinion.

The incomparable Counter Tenor voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers. Done 58 years ago (Live) on the Andy Williams Television Show in (1965). No one has sung this song better than Bobby Hatfield and no Orchestra has performed this song better than the NBC Studio Orchestra of the Andy Williams Show. Together they created the greatest live performance ever. This rendition of "Unchained Melody" has become the quintessential version of them all. This arrangement has been used ever since by every singer and orchestra. The host Andy Williams said it best at the end "Beautiful." Awesome reaction and welcome the standing ovation at the end.

Most people don't know that the song was written in 1955, I think. Don't care who else sang it or when, Bobby's is the gold standard!

Perfect vocals and orchestration. Considered the greatest live performance ever. Other tapes run a second or so longer at the end of the song. Bobby flashes a little smile. He knew he had nailed it. Great how you give some background at the beginning.

This was my youth, love so much, danced many times to Unchained Melody! In the early 2000 they performed fairly close but I couldn’t spare the 75. for a ticket. Such a regret… should have tightened my belt someway! Thank you for your great reaction!

This song was made in 1965. The 60s, 70s, ,80s,and the 90s were the best time for good music.
