    Great tips. Very simple maintenance will keep it on the road for many miles. An issue I had on a trailer of mine was that the ramp hinges froze/rusted. Couldn't even drop the ramp down. I had to cut the old hinges off and install new ones with a grease zerk. I should have sprayed them with a lubricant often, lesson learned.

    I used to own a 6X12 Carmate… mostly as a toy hauler/camper. I sold it to buy an actual toy hauler RV.. honestly, I miss the cargo trailer. Soooo much simpler and lighter.

      Thanks! I searched a long time to find the right trailer for us. There are lots of companies out there that make 6x12 and 7x14 enclosed trailers, but they are not all made equal. I saw many that weren’t much cheaper than this one I purchased, but didn’t have the good axle, didn’t have the plywood floor or full interior walls. I think that with something like a trailer, you probably get what you pay for. Thanks for watching!

    Followed your comment on another channel and landed here. Ahhhh Trailers. I love trailers. I have a ton of them.
    I'm very lazy, I loathe filling a trailer......only to have to unload it because it is needed elsewhere. So I load em' and park em. Just picked up a Honda Ridgeline that will be able to move more of the fleet. (All but a few). Lets go have a look at some more of your videos!

    We have a ton of trailers, horse trailers, cargo trailers, equipment trailers, we have a bri mar dump and a bwise hydraulic deck over that were made in Pennsylvania and they seem to be excellent quality, the bwise was actuaclly purchased in PA. The cargo trailer is a sooner gooseneck from OK its all aluminum 27' gooseneck solid as cab be we use to move the utv and have a small camping set up in the front! Good thinking on going with what you felt you were getting the best value out of instead of whats easiest on the wallet, it will pay off in the long run!

    I think a good addition to trailers is back up lights. Not necessarily for seeing where you're backing up, but also to let people who might be walking behind know that you're backing up. I've never known why trailer manufacturers don't include them. It would make it safer for "pedestrians" I think. A very nice trailer Chad! Thank you for sharing! (I like the Super Duty too! The F-350 in a single rear wheel is rare, most of them are dualies)

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 года назад +1

      Thanks, David. Back up lights would be great. I've always wondered why they're not on trailers. If you do need to back up - the car behind you has NO idea you're coming back until they actually see it happening.
      You can tell I love that Super Duty F350. I purchased it new in 2005 and still wouldn't replace it with a new one today. First of all - the new trucks are crazy expensive. I really wanted the 1-ton truck in a single rear wheel. I actually traveled to Maryland to purchase this truck in 2005 after searching for one with the features I wanted (towing package, single rear wheel F350, leather heated seats, short bed, etc.) I don't think a dually would fit in my garage, and there's nothing I need to tow/haul that requires that much payload. Thanks for watching!

      @@PurpleCollarLife Definitely right about new truck prices. It's unbelievable how much they've risen in the last few years. If I bought one, i would definitely consider pre-owned. Your Super Duty is a keeper for sure! 👍👍

      I’m torn at the moment between driving only one hour for my Rock Solid 6x10 in white; or driving 5 hours just to get it in the tan color I like. Same trailer and brand; but just feel it’s worth it for the longer-term happiness; but that extra 4 hours is formidable.
      Otherwise, white is only 1 hour drive away.
      Any feedback at all is greatly appreciated!!!

    I had a 6*12 single axle enclosed for years. It wasn't a v-nose, and pulled like a bear behind my half ton. If I were to buy another, I'd get a tandom with brake axle.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. This 6x12 pulls great. And the F350 has some heavy duty brakes, so I've not had any issues. I would agree that a 1/2 ton would be better suited with a trailer that has brakes - enclosed trailer, boat trailer, landscape trailer, etc.

    I have a quick question so I just bought my uncles ‘96 Ford Ranger I fixed it up and it runs great with super low mileage, I just wanna know does this size of a trailer work with the truck or would the truck be considered too old?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  2 года назад

      That's a hard question to answer without knowing much about the truck. Certainly I wouldn't consider a 1996 vehicle too old to tow if it's been properly maintained, and the frame, transmission, and engine are in good shape. Also - you don't mention what engine and transmission you have in your truck. I'd recommend using the towing guide for 1996. I haven't been able to locate the official ford guide. But according to this website, a 1996 Ford Ranger with the 4 cylinder engine and 3:73 axle ratio and automatic transmission is listed to tow 2300 lbs. trailers.com/tow-capacity/1996_Ford_Ranger_4x2_1875.html

    new to this. wow so much more to consider lol. I think it depends on what you're using it for. holding things? cheap route. landscaper .. higher end I'd say. Either way, neither of them are wreck proof so .. or maybe that's my conservative cheap mind taking over? Lol Im looking for one just to hold my things to prevent from paying these storage people monthly payments.
