Long live the Cool Bean
Those Colorado ladies must love it when you ride them with your rome blacklabel bindings and your k2 thraxxis boots
Your mom didn't seem to complain.
K2 have killed it with their line-up this season - although would still love to see the SP there
Jones Storm chaser or special effects? Have you had a chance to ride the newer model storm chaser?
I finally got mine out this afternoon for a few test laps and I ended up riding it until the lifts closed. Carving is certainly different, but totally doable and really a lot of fun. Forget about engaging the nose, it’s just for pow. Get it on edge under foot and ride/steer with the back foot. I think the 148 is a good size for me… even with my little 8.5 boots on the 280 waist.
What’s your weight? I’m around 160-165 pounds. And I got the 144. Wondering if I should have went with the 148
@@davewolf3751 I’m 175lbs. Angry’s bigger than me though and he liked the 144.
@@TheDerekHyde I just took it out today on a super deep pow day and it was epic! This board floats like a dream. Unlimited float. The 144 is plenty enough for me. Thanks for the info.
Hey I already have the alchemist and wanting to get a more powder specific board for the deepest days that i can also use occasionally for a different carving experience on groomers. I’ve been thinking either the special effects or the sushi. Could you suggest me another board I could consider for this 2 board quiver? Thanks
I already have a rock board.
Sushi is a little more versatile due to its torsional flex.
Yeah went for the Cool Bean at high discount instead, been looking at volume shifted in order to try something different from my custom camber and evil twin.
Can't wait to ride it and thank you for making me question my preconceived idea about what a snowboard is.
Will miss switch riding but I mean, have 2 boards for that already so skipped going for a gnu riders choice.
Miss riding switch? More like time to challenge your concept of riding switch.
@@AngrySnowboarder fair point, should've seen that one coming.
@@AngrySnowboarder when you're right your right, no issue riding switch on groomers with this one, assumptions is a cold bitch.
I own a Bataleon Omni (2016-2017), riding ~50/50 freeride and groomers - would this thing work just as good as Omni?
Or should I look for anything else?
Thanks!
It's going to be a lot more directional and a lot shorter.
If you have to choose between the party wave plus and the k2 Special effects, what would it be? I know it's both not really your cup of tea ;) But with boot size 14 I love the wider boards, can even carve a bit on them. Thx, mr. angry snowboarder!
Party Wave plus will fit a 14 better.
Thanks for the review mate! I can’t decide between this one or the Party Wave. I’m 154lbs, 5,7 and size 9. What size would be better for me on this one?
44ish.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks man! Which board would you choose for pow and trees? I already own a longer all-mountain board but i'm looking for this surfy riding on pow and trees. My available options are the 44 Special Effects, 48 Party Wave and a 48 Yes 420.
Please help me ! K2 special , bean or korua dart/dartplus for powder, tight trees and sending some small natural jump?
They all have their pros and cons. The Special Effects will be the best in tight trees it has the most torsional flex. But the Dart will land better off natural features as it has a bit more tail.
Quick question
I have capita spring break 147 and I’m leaning forwards to this one.
Wich size should infer? 144 or 148?
Im 1.76m and 650kg
Thanks
650 kgs?
No of course not.
Im
65kg and 1.76m high
44
Would you get this or a cool bean for a more “all mountain” board riding in Utah?
Neither.
I’m 6’2” size 12 boot and 200 pounds - I ride a 163 skunk ape in powder and 156 Jamie Lynn in park. What size is right for me on this board? Thank you
44
Damn, I'm a K2 addict. Considering this one.. 6'2 160lbs size11s I'm assuming I could get away with the 148 but I've been going a bit bigger with boards lately (158 Excavator, 160w Manifest team) and loving it for our heavier pnw pow. 152 be fine or too much board? Never ridden a board this wide, that plus the rocker and 3d shaping is why I'm curious
44 you don't want the 48.
@@AngrySnowboarder Wow its that big/wide eh?
Hey Avran, I'm looking for a powder specific board that primarily surfs and can turn on a dime for tree runs, but can also hold up for charging steeper pow. I'm considering the K2 Special Effects, K2 Excavator, Bataleon Surfer, Rossignol Sushi, Weston Japow (and possibly the Telos Lumerian), how would you say these boards compare? Thank you sir
I'd say you're all over the board.
@@AngrySnowboarder As in they're all too different to compare?
@@ralphhorsley9529 yeah!
@@AngrySnowboarder Ah sorry my bad, perhaps instead of comparing them, might you be able to please advise which would be best for what I'm looking for?
@@ralphhorsley9529 excavator out of that list is really the only one to consider
Nice little bro peeps lost 🐑 sheep. Real nice bro
Seems fun. It's too bad they replaced the Cool Bean entirely, they changed just a little bit of everything for this board. I was going to say it got sushi'd but they seem to be different enough still. Are you buying one or going to pass?
At this point I own too many volume shifted snowboards.
Found a 21/22 in a 152 for stupid cheap. Am i insane to try riding this with my 8.5 boots at 175lbs? Coming off a 154 excavator and 151 Superpig. Looking for a pow board/slush slashing screw around deck.
You’re fine.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks man. Quick binding question, between K2 lien AT and Cartel X, which would you suggest?
Lien AT
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks man.
I am 6,3 195-200pounds size 12 boot, thinking between 148 and 152,what would be your advice and why?
48 because you don't need a boat like the 52.
Thanks!
@@ivanspanjic1099 Hi, Did you get to ride this board in the 148? I’m thinking of getting this…and similar size to you
Rear foot steering board- Beasties new favorite board, and it's laid back so he can chug Alfredo while doing it.
#alfredoboiz
Am I wrong in thinking the softer flex and short length would make this an ideal pow board for the lighter ladies?
No you would be correct as they market it as unisex.
Would you go 144 or 148 for 180 lbs US9 boots. Thinking about getting one. Thanks in advance!
Either. 44 for more tight trees and lower angle. 48 more carving and open terrain.
comsumed!
OH no! Buy up all the cool beans, the prices wil go of the rof!
After ordering last years model at 40% off, I’m now reading the comments… It seems like your answer is always the 144?
I ordered a 148 Special Effect. It’s actually narrower than the 144 Cool Bean, and while it is 4 cm longer, some of that is just the pointy nose. The recommended weight range is lower as well (190+ vs 220+), which seems to jive with you saying that it was softer and less aggressive.
My early season & icy board is a 156 Rossignol Krypto. My better board is a 154 Dump truck, which I do actually like (I’m a glutton for punishment). I had bought Genesis X Re:Flex bindings, but hated them on both of these boards. I’ve been looking for something more surfy for them. I’m 5’8” and 175#, so I’m pushing the weight limit on these boards now. I want more float. The 144 SE is only recommended up to 160+. What the F is that +?
I was wondering the same thing and wrote K2 to find out.. they told me the “+” is another 10-15 pounds.
basically a softer, less aggressive riding cool bean?
nvm dumb question. forgive me for my sins
Spray 6 skiers, chug 1 zima, and say 5 hail Randy's for your penance.
Is this like a Never Summer but only better? #asking4afriend

so its not better than a coolbean . Time to buy all the used coolbean !
Bear Valley's store has a slew of them new in stock.
@@AngrySnowboarder gotta tell me what shop. im north of the border
Nice review,
I know you probably don’t give a shit, but if you get an opportunity the Libtech Skunk Ape would love to be reviewed by you.
Been asking to ride one for the last 2 years.
Looks surfy AF
