I think the 2-across trains may be their compromise for the launch section. B&M rarely does launch coaster in part seemingly because their 4-across, 8 car trains are just really heavy.
Coaster Daddy yas! What type of launch do you think? You think it would be a LSM launch? Or a new type of launch B&M has been developing? Since S&S developed the air compressed launch!
I think there's still a possibility for B&M to make an updated stand up model using a revised restraint system including the vests, but it would require a park to want something like that. Stand up coasters haven't been a major draw since the 90s and given most GP and enthusiasts' opinion of them, I don't see that changing. Ridder's Revenge is also a massive ride that would make the investment cost to take on the records (important for marketing) rather prohibitive for most parks. I think and B&M Blitz could very a very interesting concept. With 2-across seating and a more compact layout a model of that type could really open up a different market for B&M. Every park who operates B&Ms loves their products for the mass appeal, reliability, safety, and attention to detail, but lots of parks don't have the money or the space to build them. With the exception of Batman The Ride they've mostly built rides with fairly large footprints, but a lot of parks are very crowded these days and launched rides offer something very thrilling and marketable in a small footprint. Depending on the cost range of the model it may open them up to business with more budget-oriented customers like Six Flags again as well. As for intensity... I noticed that most of the more forceful B&M products had their forces engineering done by Stengal Engineering. They switched to doing that work in-house around 2004 or so and have generally valued less jerk ever since. Even their more recent intense rides, like Banshee, achieve that in a very flowing, elegant way. They're not "whippy". With the vest restrains especially, that's kind of a waste. Hopefully a blitz style ride would reverse this trend for them, since it's kind of the entire point!
A purpose of stand up is to make a smaller ride more thrilling, which would be very attractive for the next few years. Both kinds of past standups have been very flawed, especially B&Ms which really killed the genre since people actually said they were better. Boring (where's the airtime?) AND headbanging, but the vest can help with one of those!
It has to be more intense than ice breaker right? It would have been nice for it to open next year to compete with Velocicoaster and the Disney rides, but it now looks like Velocicoaster will rain as king in Orlando next year
I think a sideways sitdown launched coaster would be pretty cool (provided that there is no over the shoulder restraint because that would just cause headaches.) You can have three reasons facing opposite directions to add more variety.
I'm calling it right now: It's gonna be a 200 foot launched wooden wing coaster with a pretzel loop and a batwing. Oh, and it also has a splash down effect.
The same sets of tracks(dark grey or black) have been sitting outside Clermont Steel Fabricators for a couple weeks. Still there as of today. Haven't seen their doors open on my way home from work in the evenings in a while.
I'am surprised that it took a cutting edge roller coaster manufacturer like B&M this long to build a launch roller coaster. After the opening of Thunderbird at Holiday World, I would've expected them to build more of these sooner (Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure doesn't count as B&M didn't build the launch system). Can you imagine if B&M went a step further one day and started building wooden roller coasters?😄😄
I don’t think so, because B&M did not design the launch for Incredible Hulk, and problably the surf coaster will have a LSM launch instead of a drive tire launch
What about if it's a spinning coaster such as Time Traveler but with each car being shaped like a surfboard with all seats facing forward? The cars could pivot back and forth as they go thru the layout to simulate a surfing motion.
If this is what we think it is, B&M probably has the most diverse coaster model lineup out there! The only type they wouldn't have would be some type of wood model, but we all know how terrible that would turn out, looking at you Magic Mountain Cyclone!
Besides SeaWorld Orlando, Theme Parks like Kings Dominion ,Six Flags Discovery Kingdom ,Six Flags New England ,Six Flags Mid-Atlantic SeaWorld San Diego and the new Lost Island in Waterloo Iowa would add a B&M Surf Coaster.
I think the B a M Surf Coaster would be based off the elements like Hanging at Knotts Berry Farm with the inversion of a surfer would experience during surfing.
2:14, Only 4.5 million? I'd be interested in whether that includes everything, like shipping and construction. Either way it seems very cheap. This could be a smaller family coaster.
4.5 Million is not the total cost. Under that line the page continues "...of which there remains unpaid $1,432,839.00". Bringing the total cost close to just under 6 Million. Thats most likely just the cost of track fabrication, delivery, engineering, ect. I doubt B&M has much to do with the actual hands on construction process, its most likely actually "assembled" by local contractors. I couldn't imagine B&M not only supplying the engineer, and materials IE track ride vehicles, ect., but also equipment like excavators, cranes, dump trucks, concrete mixers, on top of skilled trades like welders, electricians, steel erectors, ect.
B&Ms cost 20+ million, so parks usually pay when one period of development/construction is completed. Once Step 1 is done, they pay X amount, and then on to Step 2, etc. Since designing a rollercoaster, and having the track fabricated is incredibly labor intensive and time consuming, if a project falls through, the manufacturer still wants compensation for that work.
Hello there Coaster Daddy: They could make a launched inverted model akin to the recently removed Volcano: The Blast Coaster at King's Dominion as that was a very popular and much-loved coaster at the park and they could probably come out with a much more reliable variant that still kicks ass as Volcano has had issues with the launches that was its downfall. I think a launched inverted coaster could be a hit with coaster enthusiasts and one with 9 inversions as the first model could be a huge statement for the new variant and could make it popular and then the volcano couldbe rebuilt and B&M could resurrect Volcano: The Blast Coaster at King's Dominion and that ride would be back and better than ever. Dunno what you think but a launch on an inverted model would make a lot of sense in my opinion as how loved the very unique Volcano was as it was the only launched inverted coaster in the world as there never really has been one sense. Well There is Dueling Dragons in china with a launched inverted side that goes upside down so I lied there as that would count. Whoops.
Yeah I've always said it would be awesome for KD to replace Volcano with a launched B&M invert. Unfortunately I think that is just not going to happen though. I think they'll get something like a wing coaster tbh. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
@@coasterdaddy7123 What do you think of the variant as a possibility? I mean I seen some pretty cool B&M launched layouts dome in NoLimits2 and it actually looks like lit might be a concept that could take off and be popular. I mean going by how popular Volcano was so I think it would be a good next step and would innovate on a current coaster model of theirs. Hey it might just spawn a few new inverts as well and would give parks another launched coaster option as that is going pretty crazy right now. Hell the new Jurassic coaster project at Universal Orlando is launched and that thing is being built really quickly as from what I heard 50% of the layout is complete i figured I point that out as a park you haven't mentioned in the video that is getting a launched coaster and i could see the new wing being a launched wing instead of a traditional wing cause volcano was a launched coaster and would be parity to that so a launched wing would make a lot of sense in that regard. and they actually have made trains that are 2 across and 2 row in the past if you look at the current trains on Steel Dragon 2000, the longest coaster in the world. I think that might have been a precursor to the surf coaster trains if you look at them.
Why doesn’t anyone think it could be b and ms first two ppl per row sit down coaster? They never made a coaster like that and that can be a first for them. With inversions ofc
Nothing new in the coaster community! Lol a lot of times we know everything there is to know about a ride, sometimes even the name months before announcement 😆
Does B&M even still manufacture parts for their stand-up coasters? I mean I know all B&Ms are pretty universal, so if parks have multiple of B&M's coasters, they could use a part from others to fix it, but the stand-up coaster is pretty much dead at this point and Idk how parks who have B&M stand-ups still have parts for them.
@@coasterdaddy7123 That's interesting, since I figured it'd be hard to manufacture spare parts for a ride model that isn't popular anymore in today's age. Like take all of Arrow's coasters. I'm glad S&S are able to maintain and provide the parts for Arrow coasters, but there is probably a day where they'll find it hard to manufacture the parts, since Arrow was the original manufacturer (but they have all the blueprints, so I don't think so). I think with B&M, as long as they are still existing, I think it's safe to say that they still be able to provide parts for their stand-ups, and since all of them are universal they;ll be able to take a part from let's say a floorless coaster and use that :)
I could see B&M making another stand-up, but the trains would be significantly redesigned, and I don't see any parks willing to shell out the money for what is essentially a prototype.
It doesn't make sense that Sea World would add another launch coaster the following year after Ice Breaker. Ice Breaker is a family coaster, that lacks the intensity, however I just cant see them adding something very similar the following year.
why all people use the photo of Ocean Park to explain the surf coaster. Maybe the concept art is really surf coaster XD. Ocean Park is one of my homes :D
I personally think that the new B&M surf coaster will be a good ride if anything we’ve learned that B&M coasters are usually really good so I have a good feeling about this
Agreed. I'm sure it will be solid. Maybe not as good as an Intamin Blitz (if this is B&Ms version), but much more reliable while offering a great ride.

Wouldn't surprise me none. With today's technology it seems like every park when they're planning a coaster the information or layout gets leaked.
