    I just ordered the other day a new Dual touch screen stereo system equipped with android auto and I am so excited to get this installed in my 97 ranger!!! I dumped a grand into new tires, repaired ball joint and replaced another ball joint and also an alignment.... Going to replace both seats, replace the carpet interior and do a complete restoration of the outer body all dents, chips etc. and get it completely repainted professionally. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

      How did the new radio end up working out man??

    • @noobistproductions
      @noobistproductions 2 года назад

      Worked out great! Awesome quality and the stereo was sick, only issue was fitting into the dash it ended up a bit deeper than expected so at least an eighth of the screen on top you cannot see (like the time etc.) but otherwise great equipment!
      I've ended up purchasing a decommissioned police cruiser since then and now I drive that since the Ranger isn't as reliable, and I don't have the funds to work on it right now.

    You can use the "nails method" to remove the radio - a couple 8d nails on each side of the radio to push the locking tabs and the radio comes off.

    Highly recommend you solder these connections and cover them with heat shrink. If you don't know how to solder, find a friend who does. The compression splices used are good but WILL fail over time. Vibration, moisture and bi-metallic corrosion will have you replacing them very shortly.

      Bullshit. I owned a car stereo shop and restored a hot rod 20 years ago. All the crimp connectors are still fine and the Alpine amp still works 20 years later.

    You can remove the radio with a cheap tool from Walmart that fit in the holes on the radio and just pull it out without removing the bezel.

    This is the hard way. The stereo has the holes in the front for the easy to remove stereo tool.

    • @JeffTheHokie
      @JeffTheHokie 5 лет назад +7

      Removing the bezel allows you to secure it from the front AND the back of the hole, and to carry it inside if you need a better workspace. Sliding one of those cheapo plastic adapter kits into the hole and doing nothing to secure it from the other side will not give you good results. Seriously, it's 2 7mm screws and a few seconds to get the bezel off.

    What year is the ranger you’re doing this on? I’m not educated on stereo installation, it would appear that the interior for the ford ranger doesn’t change or get updated over the years. Comments say looks exactly like my 96- looks exactly like my 2011? I got a 95, I’m here to say, it looks the fuckin same. Somebody help me out. I’m an idiot or somethin

      Up until 97, rangers had single din head units. 98 and up has double din, like the one in the video.

    My factory stereo on my 1998 Ranger only had one wire harness plug in and the antenna plug. It had two wires hard wired into the radio I had to cut. The new unit works fine, but now the parking lights and dash lights are constantly on in the accessory position or when the truck is running and there's no way to dim the dash lights, lol.

  • @Rebel9668

    I think I'll skip the crimp connections and solder them and put heat shrink tubing over the soldered wires.

    This video sucked. Everyone knows how to crimp wires together. The tough part is the cheazy adapter kit that needs to be assembled which is totally skipped here.
