These will go up in value after they depreciate for 5-7 years. The same is happening to the 2014-2015 Z/28. I have one i bought mine last year. The Z/28 was a lot different than an SS 1LE but i think the R has enough exclusivety plus carbon fiber wheels that will eventually make it go up in value. I think low miles Z/28s will see 6 figures soon. I can see the same for the GT350R. Manual 6 speed, RWD, no BS car. If Z/28s are going up this will go up since it was built to beat the Gen 5 Z/28. I'll be looking to add a GT350R to my Z/28.... maybe a black one or leadfoot Grey. Both cars are seriously badass 😎.

You can always drop off your stang gt to shelby america for the shelbification. That btw is how traditional shelby’s were done back in the days, not straight out of ford factory. In any case, I too believe that it will go up in value because there are not that many cars with a flat plane crank v8 and even less with a manual.

    • @devinearthman7283

@@dankmemer2774 To be fair the current day Shelby mod program is completely unrelated to what these cars are, and to be honest not really in the same spirit of the originals either. No one will value a modern aftermarket-modified car even with the Shelby name the same way as a factory designed and made Ford which spanked 911 GT3's at the time for under 70k. Today's Shelbification packages are mostly appearance and go-fast-in-a-straight-line-focused. Despite Shelby the company having little to do with the current GT350 development I feel Ford made something more in line with the spirit of the originals than whatever Shelby itself is actually doing these days, sadly.

As an engineer in the industry for a long time ...I can assure you one thing, OEMs will NOT be making cars like this in the future...low profit margin, manual only, FPC, pure driver's car. Now...regarding value...23,000 in 5 years is roughly 12 hand built engines per production day....it is rare... considering Flat Rock will pump out around 1,100 Mustangs per day....is it McLaren rare? Obviously not.
Now, of 23,000 cars let's call more than half of those will have high mileage with track beat downs on them (kudos to those drivers btw), of the 12,000 or so well kept 350s, let's say 5,000 are original with no mods and haven't seen winter...Now the question remains....How many owners will be willing to sell their baby come 2040?? When the world becomes full of snowflakes, electric cars and that muppet AOC is banning cows, planes and anything American to the core, I'd be betting that there will be about 5% of owners putting their youth on the market....soooooo...maybe about 250 well kept amazing machines for 60 states and provinces I wanna say???
Let's call it a few good gems per state...Dont get it twisted... I'm not saying this car will take in a fortune...but it will DEFINETELY retain value and a well kept lower mileage 350 can appreciate in the right economic climate. If people were paying that much markup to get one when there are tons of powerful sports cars from all OEMs available..There will be people that will so the same in the future.

  • @BackyardBarbellClub

I disagree entirely that these won't go up in value overtime solely because of production numbers. A perfect example is the E36 M3. Today, you can see them selling for $30k+ now, when you could have bought one for under $10k about 10 years ago and prices are only going to continue to go up. They made 46k of these and these are not nearly even half as special as the Shelby GT350. This is also the last manual V8 Shelby that Ford will ever make. That isn't even including the fact that it is a flat plane crank naturally aspirated voodoo engine as well that they will also never put more RnD into ever again too. Especially as everyone switches to lame electric cars that don't have an exhaust note like the Shelby.

What makes the GT350 so special is it has the most powerful N/A V8 Ford has ever built. It's the only flat plane crank V8 Ford put in a Mustang and this engine is not put in any other vehicle. The "R" version is the first major series-production car with carbon-fiber wheels. The production #'s don't have anything to do with it because 23 thousand or so is still low as heck when you talking about hundreds of thousands of regular Mustangs built every year. Your reasons for this vehicle not being a future collector car are flawed as every one of these cars will most likely be sought after in the future.

I think you're dead wrong. The 350Rs will go up in value. You're missing one key element to your statement, and that is the 350 is a special car. It has a unique engine and could be the last N/A 6 speed great Mustang ever built. Now if they reuse that engine, it's game over. If they bring out another 350 in a few years, that will hurt it as well. They only made around 3,000 of the 350R's. That is low enough. Just look at the 2005 Ford GT. They made around 4,000. You pair a low production number with a special car, and that equals = appreciation. The 2015 model years are already going for $150K +.

Too bad that people forget their history. In 1969 Chevrolet sold about the same production that year that the GT350 sold its whole production period. So to say the GT350 cannot become a classic because of its numbers is, on its face, an illogical conclusion, based on numbers anyway. Plus, the terrific attraction of the FPC engine as a result of its sound and performance even adds more to its attraction over something like the '69 Z with its standard engine design even with the 302 being recognized as a fantastic engine.

It seems the reviewers say the main reason the R is better is the CF wheels and Cup2 tires (grip and lightness). The new 2020 GT350 base version seems as good, especially without unnecessary and very expensive to replace wheels. (people remove to avoid using and damaging)

@@rembo183 I own a 2019 R. It's definitely a bit more track-focused than the non-R but is fairly comfortable on the street, especially if you choose the regular suspension damping (there's a button on the steering wheel to change suspension modes). I agree that in most cases, the non-R is the way to go. I only bought the R for it's exclusivity.
