    Here it is, folks! One of the greatest muscle cars ever built, the 2018 Shelby GT350R. Ever since driving the standard GT350 a few years ago, I've always wondered how much of a difference the R would make in regards to the overall driving experience. Ford went a long way in making the R one of the most hardcore track cars to come from the USA. Under the hood is a 520HP, 5.2L V8 with a 8,200 RPM redline and a 6-speed manual transmission. Just that sentence alone hits all the right marks in my book for an unforgettable drive. Enjoy!

      High Hopes that’s the biggest downfall of the new GT500...it not coming with a manual option. If it does come in manual in the future, it will be a great car. What makes the GT350 more rare though is its manual transmission and flat plane crank. GT500 doesn’t use the flat plane crank.

      I love American cars more than anyone but the viper is a terrible example, it had huge potential and they made a super low effort try and didn’t even get a sub 7 second time, old viper, C6 ZR1 or ZL1 1LE are all way more impressive than the ACR

    • @iluvcakes19
      @iluvcakes19 5 лет назад +4

      @@1240Dax your comment would be funny if it wasn't ignorant. The ACR is a great example and a bad ass car! That thing is legendary! Also the Ring attempt was grassroots, done be privately by fans, not Dodge. There were numerous things that went wrong during the attempt. Do a little research. At one point they were on track, no pun intended, for a sub 7 min lap time but the timer got caught under the driver's foot... a couple laps later after not changing tires they crashed. The 7:01 time was a warm up lap. Lol. But it must be said that the Ring favors higher hp cars. The ACR will really shine on smaller, tighter, more technical tracks... ya know, the kind with lots of turns? Exactly what the OP was talking about.

      @1240Dax 5 лет назад

      @@iluvcakes19 Can you read? I never claimed Dodge themselves did it, i was fully aware that it was a grassroots attempt judging from the fact i said low effort, it just is a waste of a great car, several things going wrong don't exactly scream great attempt to me, the car is amazing, the attempt however was not, that's why i mentioned a couple cars that had way better laps.

    Your video is very well done, much better than mine! I could not help but notice that the chassis number of your car, JR343, is only one number after mine. My chassis number is JR342, delivered to a Northern Ohio dealership June 18, 2018. I purchased it June 28 and had it delivered to my driveway on the back of a flatbed truck, same day, and I backed it into my garage with 10.2 miles. Mine is white with blue stripes and has an identical option list. Today my car has 748.5 miles - not yet broken in, still driving it gently. I was invited by Ford Performance to drive this car in Atlanta, in July 2016. It is the most capable, most track focused car I have ever driven. I published two RUclips videos when my car was new, but I do not have the equipment to video while driving. Good job of highlighting this car's capabilities in your presentation.

      Dolby109 true. I bet Ford will continue to improve the GT350. They already have started to for the 2019 models. Eventually make it a 600hp n/a track monster, improving upon their already great magnaride suspension, and chassis improvements, etc...there are a lot of things they could do to improve it. As long as they keep it manual and n/a, it will continue to be special and great.

    The 2 Best “Well balanced all around HIGH performance American Coupes” you can by today are the 16-19 Shelby GT350 & the 16-19 ZL1/ZL1 1LE.. they do everything well, and swing way above there weight on Track/Course with cars costing more than double there MSRP’s

    Just purchased a lightly used '17 - agree this is the greatest Mustang ever mass produced for track duty (owned a '12 Boss 302 prior). The way things are going, I don't think we'll see another Ford with this level of NA engine/transmission/suspension combination, along with all the other performance modifications from the factory - it almost ceases to be a Mustang. This car could be a future collectable...Excellent video, killer footage and narration!

  • @xevious2501
    @xevious2501 5 лет назад +1

    I Agree, People who have bought those then sold them were completely out of their minds!. Few cars come along that are as special as these Shelby Mustangs. And yeah these are Factory ford Shelbys not Shelby American Mustangs. Yes 911's are great, but we dont have enough fingers and toes to count all their various 'special' models, far too many for any to considered truly special. A 911 is great but its anything but unique and special as theirs just too many of them in all their variants, completely the opposite of the shelby mustangs. The GT350 is the last great naturally aspirated manual gearbox (which is fantastic) analog sports car. As such its soon to be extinct from the roads, no more manuals means people will no longer know what its like to truly be connected to their vehicles. A drivers car is one that deeply connects the driver to the machine, and remove must nanny driver aids that prevents the driver from not only making mistakes but also truly experiencing what a does. Soon the landscape will be nothing but flappy paddles and electric engines. now thats not to say cars wont be fast even fun, they will, just like those electric Go-karts are fun, but that Organic Anaolg experience with its soundtrack from Valhalla will be lost to time. but only for specs of time when owners need to return to whats REAL, removed from whats DIGITAL This car like most mustangs has something than even most exotics have, and that character and soul. This is a car that maintains a spirit, a very real spirit. unlike most cars thats are so over-engineered they loose all character and soul. theyre just a machine. The GT350R dosent just make you aware its alive, ,it doesnt just talk to you, it shouts at you. And dare i say i none of the 911's do that. none. not even the 918. and one can say that about the entire mustang lineup, they all have character, loads of it, again something that money cant buy. And really its always been the case with the Mustang, and why its lasted for so long. Least we forget the mustang has not fallen out of production since it went into production back in a 1964. how many singular models of cars can make that claim? not many. The mustang has been everything at one or more times of its life, a gem, a wreck, the butt of jokes to a pebble beach star, and now, once more the brilliant racing sports car that puts to shame rivals costing several times more. And does it apologetically because its earned it namesake. Mustang holds a special people in people minds and hearts world wide, and not because its flawless, no rather its flaws is what gives it character, its qwerks makes it human and its price makes it one of us. The peoples sports car.

      "And dare i say i none of the 911's do that"....well, a 997.2 GT3 or GT3RS...will indeed stir your soul. I've had two 911 C4S's, modded with exhaust and Numeric shifter and Numeric cables, BMC air filters along with FVD tunes....and they were lots of fun too. I have 2018 GT350 now (on its second engine). When I get garage space I will get a GT3, 997 variety to keep the 350 company.

    • @joshh1377
      @joshh1377 5 лет назад +2

      Horsepower is great but not the single factor that makes something an iconic great car. The new one may be amazing but it’s yet to be tested by the public. It’s heavier, but there’s a bunch of tech that should make the track package solid around the track. It gets back to the more traditional muscle, which the recent 350s aren’t. Gone is the FPC, it’s going to SC,d, etc. Think about Porsche. They will go high HP (gt2 rs) but only if balance is right. Outside of that, they go for balance, lightweight, nimble, then the power that is appropriate. The gt350 has a special feel. High rev, balance, sound. I’ll say reliability is an issue on some. Buts it’s got a unique feel. Not yet sure about the new one. Maybe it’ll be amazing but I’m not yet ready to say it’s iconic simply for the big HP numbers and some tuning tech in its handling.
