Could be one of many things, but one thing for sure was wrong there, the clutch centre lock nut should be very tight, 128Nm if my memory is right. Yours came undone far too easily. And staked once tight. When the clutch basket was out the torsional dampening springs were way too loose, but the bike is 30 something years old.
thanks Keith.
check the timing chain ajuster early cbr1000f had problems
I will do one day in the future thanks 👍
Jesus Jon reminds me when my clutch developed a bad rattling sound on the Kawasaki GPZ500 bought all new plates heavy duty spring put it back together same noise still there stripped it down only to find out the woodruff key none existent managed to get one one after about buying 6 different ones worked perfectly after that as you know the 33 year old Kawasaki still runs like a dream.
You’ll sort it got to be something simple you shouldn’t be getting any clonking sound from it when you took it apart turning backwards and forwards bet that’s what’s causing the the rattling sound sounds like something lose or worn out what’s the wear limit on the friction plates hope you fix it easy 👍👍🙏🙏
Hi Derek yes the gpz sounds and runs great. I'm thinking its something to do with the balancer shaft as to me it sounds like the engine is out of balance. I'll get it sorted. 👍
Hi from Germany, really love your videos and the way you just “do” things. Great. So tell me, I am missing the solution for that rattling sound. Did you succeed?
My clutch springs were exactly the same as yours, definitely beyond limit. Got new ones too.
I am still working on my cbr and I’m looking forward to hear it for the first time.
All the best,
Markus
Hi kicksmart. There is a later video out with the engine rattle gone. Good luck with your CBR.👍
Hi there Jørgen from Denmark first of all thanks for your brilliant channel 👍 are you sure that you aren’t missing a bolt on the adjuster for the balance shaft just saw it on your video that there is missing a 8 mm bolt
Hi jorgen glad you are enjoying the channel thanks... Yes I've also been investigating the balance shaft the Rattle does seem a little quieter when I make a adjustment but im not to sure im understanding the correct way to do the adjustment correctly. 👍
Good day, I always follow your videos that help me repair my cbr1000f. But from the video, he doesn't understand if in the end you changed the bell. I'm Italian and I don't speak English, how you work I watch it in the video even if I don't really understand yours words
Hi ROBYMEI. Sorry I didn't understand what you mean by the bell. I did change the complete until with a used one. 👍
@@jonyr1TT good evening. yes, I wanted to know if you changed the complete bell. because from the video you can only see that you put everything back together. I wanted to know if you had changed or replaced the piece with the springs. sorry but I don't speak English. I always follow your videos but not speaking english i look more what you do so then i fix my honda cbr 1000f too
Hi yes everything was replaced with the other unit. 👍 thank you for following my videos 👌
@@jonyr1TT good evening and congratulations again for the videos, which helped me to disassemble my cbr 1000f
thank you.
Gutted for you mate, hopefully you can sort it out 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Thanks Gary I'll get it sorted out im sure. 👍
Dude, I feel your pain.
Thanks bret. I'm sure I'll sort it sooner or later 👍
Any update on the CBR buddy? Look forward to your next video 👍
Not sure sorry can't be arsed with it at the moment but it will be back hopefully I can get it back on the road for next season. 👍
Try petro patch for your hole in the yamaha tank available from motoring shops. I used it on a kawasaki tank years ago did the trick.
Hi thanks kawasaki yes im taking the same route hopefully it will last. 👍
Indeed - keep yer chin up Johhny boy - I've sent you a beer to help with that - you'll get there in the end buddy - you always do!
Thanks Mike. I will do. Cheers 🍻 for the ☕ coffee much appreciated and needed 👍
A lot of the noise.may be carbs not siync together...has a rough guess 2 cylinders are out...its only a guess.
Thanks Darren. Any and all help is very much appreciated. 👍
Those loose springs in the crutch basket aren’t gonna help. I was thinking about the bolt blueing you’ve been doing I’ve been doing that to now I’m thinking I’ll try doing it again with bees wax and hopefully keep the black finish what I’m after. I enjoy ya style and content new subscriber tho I watched u rebuild that gpz1000 ages ago lovely job on that too
The springs do shake about a bit but it looks like they are sealed in there.. Yes the old gpz I love them bikes 👍
Omg dam it! Hope it’s a minor issue 🤞🙏🏻
Hopefully it's something simple and a easy fix., 🔧🔨🔧🔨
Hey chap can you tell me what did you use for inlet rubber for carbs not paying 100 if I can I saw a video you might use rad hose
Hi Steve. I used silicon coolant hose.👍
What a b*tch. yeah I meant the clutch springs at the back of the big cog for clarification.
I wasn't aware of the balance shaft issue, must have missed those ones...
The audio isnt very good but is it running on 4 clys? Check the choke plungers are sealing and do some head scratching.
Could you post a video of taking it slowly from idle to about 2500 rpm? when you give it a quick rev it sounds like the rpms are taking a long time to return to idle. like a fueling issue.....
Good luck, Lol and balance those carbies and reset pilot air screws to stock just incase an "expert" has been tinkering.
Thanks bob. Yes it does seem a bit slow on the revs and im not to confident the home made carb manifold boots are leaking and it now as a straight through exhaust on it now. I need to sort the Rattle out then give it a test ride. 👍
@@jonyr1TT try refitting the boots with 3 Bond brand sealant or heaps of grease. Definitely not bathroom silicon etc.. lol. Have you had a spray about the carbies and hoses with wd40 to hear if the revs go up. Have a fire extinguisher on hand because this is also an excellent way to find out if your plug leads are stuffed..
And yeah, WTF was rattling in that removed basket? Does the other one do it? sounds like somethings rooted in there mate.
Three bond silicone wd40 🔥 extinguisher lol. Nothing is rattling in the clutches its seems to be coming from lower 👇 near the front.
Hi mate how you doing I've a n reg honda CBR 1000 f for sale in running order needs lights an some body panels it's got just over 50,000 miles looking around £300 for would make nice bike again got keys an log book get back to me if you know any body who's interested thanks mate
Hi mate sorry no I don't. I'd have it but just don't have any spear cash for the foreseeable future. 👍
