My Miller Legend welder wore out after 22 years in June. I adapted it to also power air compressor.I replaced it with a Miller Bobcat air pack. $11.500. I run a 11ft bed packed with parts storage for truck road service. The air pack is a sweet unit, up to 200psi, 200 amps and battery charge, with very little real estate space. For over 40 years i have used the miller legends for battery charging as you have a lot of diversity. Now that the welders are inverters you can no longer charge batteries thru the cables, which limits options on replacing worn out unit. this air pack is a sweet unit where i get more bang for the buck in a lighter compact size.
I have a enclosed Knapheide box with those cheap spring door closers. One thing I do like I can lock all the cabinets from the back by pushing in handles on each side and padlock.
Hey shout out from my home town where yall compressor is coming from, Mobile Alabama! And my husky 365xt has been eating a little after the storms. Thanks for sharing yalls industry with us.
some trucks i used to be around, we would cut the compressor off the tank to reduce the foot print and mount the air tanks under the bed. then put the compressor and motor on the side top boxes. (yours are full with generator and knack boxes, but it would get it out of the bed and make more room for you)
Great video. Lots of thought, common sense, and experience combined into how you setup your equipment. If you do all of the little things right.... the big things will usually take care of themselves. That is one of the many reasons why you guys are successful. I have been looking building a 4500/5500 dedicated tow rig myself with some type of hauler/ flatbed on it. I can't wait to see how you lay yours out so I can learn from your setup before I embark on mine.:) thanks Tim and keep the videos coming.
I see lots of folks running the F550 and 5500 rams with the 220 wheelbase Out west pulling those 6 and 8 horse living quarters trailer. They use a 3inch ball because most of those big goosenecks are rated at 30 plus thousand pounds. From the discussion I’ve read the length difference is mostly between the cab and the tire.
Good stuff Tim, good idea on the service truck , it will give you a little more scope if You have a break down when out the country, should save you a little on down time, safe travels:):)
Those are some nice service trucks you guys have and I figured they would have a lot more stuff on them but I guess you're doing it right with what you absolutely would have to have during a fix or break down you can handle yourself and then general maintenance but if you can keep each truck around $100,000 that's not bad at all really
I'm in no way speaking for Tim, however, I know there is no way I would want to pull a trailer off on some of those trails they get on. That would be a disaster and you'd be asking to get stuck all the time, especially with a trailer that heavy(fuel ain't light). They are some nice trailers though!
Got a 2014 150,000 miles 5500 with 6.7cummins.with a new engine for sale with a cm skirted flat bed and new rubber for sale used it to pull cattle trailer and back hoe Then for a tool truck.

I have a Ram 4500 with a CM tradesman bed, I love it. My gooseneck pulls amazing. The longer wheelbase makes it pull real smooth.
Service truck are so personal, there's no perfect tools, but that's nice
Sure is a good channel. Nice calming way he speaks. Like hanging out with a good friend.
Thank you.

Got an 08 5500 service truck. These Ram trucks are some hosses man!💪🏻
Next thing for the service trucks are ranch hand type front bumpers. Hate to see the remodel jobs they do at 55mph.
Like thunder struck ones able to take a deer hit and no damage

Great video Tim hope y’all have a good time in ga be safe
Thanks for the review I'm always interested in other service trucks and beds.
More good info on service trucks. Thank you
you can put a goose neck or 5th wheel hitch on a 84" c/a which is what your 2 trucks are.
Great video

You can hook up to a gooseneck with the long wheelbase
That is good to know. I wasn’t sure if you could or not.
@@cotontop3 one of the outfits that works for us has a long wheelbase 550 and they're always hooked to a gooseneck with that bed
congrats on the new truck

Thank you for your choosing Johnson Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram for the purchse of your two new trucks.
I am soon going to be purchasing one for my personal use.
@@cotontop3 awesome, looking forward to assisting your family again. I shared your video of the trucks
You should look into a thundercreek fuel trailer

You’re right a trailer is a nightmare when it rains. We have been there done that and not doing it again.

Hello Clay, if you don't mind me asking...how much? And what state are you located?
👍
How do you guys like the rams? Holding up good?
Do yall still have the pneumatic hose maker? If you do would yall sell it?
I don’t remember you talking about a welder at all. Don’t you have one yet or don’t you need one?
Both trucks need front mud flaps .
Are there any aftermarket air pressure systems to at least keep two or more cabinets clean on the truck bed?
прив1т з укра1ни ,ваш обзор на дож рем 5500 клас я теж займаюсь шиномонтажем ,1 внас таких машин немае
I thought after your pickup you were done with dodge
Your out of Columbus ms?
Correct
What made you take the hose machine of the truck?
So will you be trading in your silver Ram?
His 3500 is owned By TDK Logging so would say hard no. Sounds like hes gonna get one that will be personally owned.
Are the 4500/5500 rated at the same horsepower as the pickups? I know the Fords and Chevrolets used to be detuned.
They are detuned as well, they are more worried about reliability than the power in commercial applications.
You would have base hp and torque not high output
Do you have any idea what they weigh fully loaded for bear?
You prolly would not want to know. Lol
In ya'lls operation would there be a pro to purchasing an old single axle fuel truck; or, is it more efficient without?
Just another engine to burn money in an already not so profitable industry.
Wait you live is Columbus Mississippi
Yes
@@cotontop3 dang I love closer than I thought you should do a meetup some day. I’m from Hattiesburg
Do you haul fuel to the woods with the tank in your truck?
Yeah I keep clear fuel in it and we can use it for trucks if we need or put in a machine also.
NOOOOOOOO I was hoping for a Ford!
