    The reason the screws aren’t bigger the handles on the VAT is because it interfere with the build plate going in and out and if you made them bigger like an angle or something then you would have to always be adjusting them because you would have to make sure they were clear of the build plate so you can’t really complain about them not being bigger without impacting cost and possible design changes to the build plate which don’t make a lot of sense

    • @Monocure3DProTips

      They could be longer not wider without issue - also I think they should be Aluminium not plastic. Yes, I understand they are trying to make these cheap, but I'm sure 50c for some decent screws wouldn't affect the price that much!

    I am a little confused as to what I should do. I just received saturn 2 today, but however, I also just found out elegoo updated all of their line up to the next ver. I was very impressed especially for the new FDM line up with speed of 250 to max 500, and it cost less than my old ver $399 saturn 2 that came in today. Guess what else is $399? Their new saturn 3. I am very confused why the now older ver saturn 2 would cost the same as saturn 3. This is my 1st 3D printer and I am now more confused than ever on what I should do. Return or just keep saturn 2?

    Hi,
    I just bought the elegoo saturn 2 Resin printer (I'm new to resin printing).
    I wanted to print the test file of the two towers (In the usb key)
    When I was looking and browsing the files of the usb key provided with the printer
    I saw a file named: SATURN 2 Machine parameters20220831 in g-code extension.
    Believing that it was a parameter to install to adjust the printer,
    I runed it and then it says that the printing was done (the printer didn't moved)
    After that I printed the two towers and everything went well and the towers quality is very good.
    Did you manage to read the file content and if yes do you know what it does to the printer.
    I also opened it into a text editor and I don't understand nothing.
    Thank you for your return

    @andrewtaylor2369 Год назад +6

    Must be an Australian thing to go against the professional way of levelling a plate. There is a reason that Elegoo include a LEVELLING card. The plate needs to be slightly higher than the FEP sheet by 0.1mm so you get enough suction. Your test piece proved you had to much suction on the first layer. Try levelling it again with the card and see the difference in your prints.

    You should NOT level the plate with the vat on. Never ever do that! They include a card, but really should use 2 sheets of paper. Remove the vat, place the two sheets, hit home, press the plate firmly down on all sides, tighten screws while holding it down firmly with the other hand, and return to the main menu screen. Do NOT leave the vat on while leveling the build plate...

      Thanks Jason for your comments. We have been levelling resin 3D printers using this method for more than 5 years. The problem with using Paper is that it is not necessary the same thickness as the FEP.

    • @jamesa1995
      @jamesa1995 Год назад +5

      actually - its super common to level with the vat on and its more accurate that using paper. There are plenty of videos using different techniques of leaving the vat on even with resin in it and levelling.

    • @JasonHartsoe
      @JasonHartsoe Год назад +4

      @@jamesa1995 and would be incorrect. The purpose of leveling without is to go past the vat fep. The fep gets stretched during each layer and why it needs to go past that little bit to ensure a tight fit and press during each layer cure. While you get a close fit, if course it'll likely come out ok, but still not the perfect level. It's just an improper lazy easy to level. When the company itself provides video that shows the proper way to level, rest assured they've done the research and time spent testing, quality assurance, beta testing with others etc. in order to provide the best property method as does the entire industry. That being said, everyone can do what works best for them, but that doesn't always mean it's the right way or best way. It just works. But your stretching the fep before it's leveled which can cause one area to be stretched more than another, even if it's minor which over time will wear out. Luckily, they're replacement. So it really doesn't matter much.

    • @jamesa1995
      @jamesa1995 Год назад +5

      @@JasonHartsoe the purpose of levelling is to ensure its flat, you use a piece of paper when levelling to compensate for the fact that the fep is there.......so you would be incorrect.
      People can do things they way they like, personally ive tried both and levelling with the fep is a lot more accurate than using a piece of paper. If you wanna sook so much you can also just use a spare FEP sheet instead of using a piece of paper or the VAT.

      a bit late but Elegoo Saturn2 8k advantages is that have a bit higher precision printing than Mars3 and can print more things at same time for larger surface area saving resin in the long term when printing many things at same time. Also Saturn2 8k can print larger models. If you want the best printers in the market , in my opinion are Saturn2 8k and the prozen 8k.. This last one have a bit higher precisision than Saturn2 ,but is significantly smaller. So you can't go wrong with either one. But for the sake of title of precision is Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K Resin 3D Printer . There is a video in youtube that compare printing in same models albeit the slight differences they show could be something about the Resin used or settings.
