There is a learning curve to properly launching a Fusion Sport to get the most out of the launch. An experienced owner/driver would have had a car on the Mustang in the first 100 feet.

I did a street light dash when I was stock against a stock 2.7 fusion sport and just edged it. I was not much faster. So tuned v tuned would he interesting.

Not anyone who owns a fusion sport. The transmission in it is crap where the 10spd keeps the mustang on the boil. If they Fusion had the 8 or 10spd. It would have a much better car. Hell my father in law has a 2.7 f150 with the 10spd and untuned that thing is way better than the 6.
On an e30-e50 tune they’re even faster. These cars are seriously quick. Get a hold of one of the ‘15-‘18 Ford Edge Sports. They have the same engine and trans setup and are just as quick! If you were closer I’d lend mine. Even on 87 octane it runs 13.4’s. On e30 it’s in the 12’s.
Love my Fusion Sport. Unleashed tune on 93 and there is not much on the street that can get me from a dig. Runs high 12's on only a $300 tune. I'm too lazy to do e30 or it would be even quicker
Most performance vehicles run much faster than high 12s lol. What are you racing from light to light other than performance cars on the street lol. I bet your trap speed is garbage
@Catholic Firefighter bought my car for 39 sport was 17 and it's still cheaper to own.5$ to fill my tank,no maintenance and goes 11s all day long with acc boost. Sport was nice "for a fusion" but not anything to be hooting and hollering over would never go back to it for my 3.transmission is the definition of slush box 😂
@Catholic Firefighter also in case you didn't know an s4 from 2013 with pulley and a tune runs 11.6 on pump matching the wr holding sport which is upgraded turbos ,trans gutted e85 etc etc.
As an EB owner I have to say the EB can only be at its peak shifting it yourself. Even with the tune it doesn't shift when it should. Good race though!

It sounds like the Fusion is having issues near the top of the first couple gears, like the revs hang for a second. The Mustang stays with it during this and when the Fusion gets into the higher gears, it stops doing whatever it’s doing and pulls much harder
It sounds like the trans tune needs to be dialed in a bit. Mine shifter much harder from 1-2 and 2-3. The "hang" mid 3rd gear is normal, though, because the torque converter locks in the middle of 3rd which sounds wierd, but doesn't adversely affect acceleration. It makes 3rd gear almost act like a cvt for a moment.
Sam, I think we've found the car you need to buy now that the Z isn't an option: Fusion Sport. Now, to find someone that would part with theirs....good luck
The superior transmission really shines and let's the mustang stay close. The ffs' s 6 spd is not great, wish it had the 10spd. Even the 2.7l f150 has a 10 spd.
I love the comments on these videos. People barely know the Fusion Sport exists, much less how capable it is (with or without a tune). Ford did a terrible job of marketing these.
I had one. I miss it and am thankful ford did a terrible marketing job. Because nobody knew. Blew away porsches, R8's and srt's indiscriminately. Comfortable and beautiful. I miss it....
That was not an even match 😂😂. A OTS tuned ecoboost with no bolt ons vs a pro-tuned, bolt on, & methanol is of course slower than the Fusion 😂😂. Get a bolt on, methanol and pro-tuned ecoboost up against it and then you'll have an even race. The weight difference on this isn't enough of a leg up.
I agree. Those stats for the ecoboost were weak. Was it even tuned lol, sounds like the high-performance package to me. My FP tune which is very modest cranks out better numbers than this
@@invalidusername_5101 My sport is fbo on e30 and i put a car and a half on a (really loud) scat charger from 60-140. Not sure what mods if any, but exhaust definitely was not stock lol.

I've was never implying the Fusion couldn't beat muscle cars in a roll, my whole point was saying a roll race would be more appropriate if the cars are similar spec . Because drag racing in a AWD car with similar whp is a obvious W for the AWD car.

if you're going to race a mustang GT you're gonna need to launch it properly, traction control OFF, Sport ON, Launch at 1800-2000RPM do not hold RPM for more than a second or two before releasing.
@@codylentz573 you probably just had a better 60ft on that run, nothing to do with sport button. Sport off makes transmission shift slower at high rpm.
From my experience with a 2017 Fusion Sport, Traction Control "on" won't let the car launch. Just turning traction control off makes a huge difference. Sport Mode alone has no noticable difference on the launch. Also brake boosting with traction on the car is slower than not. At least for me personally in both stock form and with a Unleashed Tune.
My Ecoboost makes about 380 crank with my mods ands tune. I beat a new MKV Supra last night in a roll race, idk if it was the 6cyl or 4cyl but either way they got gapped.

I was trying to race the Supra but he didn’t want any and then outta nowhere a 19’ Charger RT came flying up hauling tail so I got behind him and went to go after him and as I dropped gear and hit it the Supra hit it and I started pulling away from him.
Its to bad Ford never sold more of these now now becoming understood vehicles. Hard to find really good condition sports they never sold many. You guys think they will go up in value a bit because of this?

Put the Fusion against an s550 mustang with a 5.0. A 2.3 mustang (especially 10 speed auto) is faster than a stock fusion sport. The Fusion Sport was essentially a bust. I drove a bran new one off the lot, it was unimpressive and slow.
I think the trans is what really disappointed enthusiasts. Its very slow and doesnt really seem to put all the torque down too well. A manual option would have developed a much larger aftermarket for it. Or even at least a performance auto. Then it would be so much easier to find mods for it. Right now I think there's literally 1 or two fully bolt on air intakes you can buy, 1 set of downpipes for $1300 from a small business. 1 decent exhuast that's only axle back for a grand. No good turbo upgrades. The best you can do right now is a tune and better fuel. Hardly any cosmetic mods that aren't ricey as hell as well. Ford should have stuck with it and let the fusion join the ST family, too bad they hate cars now 😮💨
This might be the dumbest comparison video I have seen yet. You've got a slightly modified car versus a more heavily modified car which originally both made around the same HP stock to begin with. Now you've got one with nearly 130 hp and tq more than the other (~36% more power and only 12% heavier) and you expect it to be a fair fight? Not to mention the Sport is AWD vs RWD, but i dont think it matters too much in this case. Why not race against a stock or tuned GT with about 460hp and more similar weight? Bad comparison of cars tbh.
Oh, now that I watched with headphones on, I see what's happening. Sam arranged an embarrassingly lopsided race, and is very clearly sandbagging the Fusion. You can hear him let off the gas several times in the dig race to the point where he is just kinda cruising at the top end. The first big "pfff" is the BOV, and you can see the mustang lurch ahead immediately after. The the Fusion takes off, but a few more small "pff" sounds reveal why the Fusion stopped pulling away so hard. Sam, if you are gonna set up a slaughter like this, then sandbag to make it more interesting, don't use a car with a blow-off valve vented to atmo. I want to see the REAL race. Let the owner drive it against a 392 from a dig with traction control off. Who here does not want to see that race (other than Hemi owners)?
Why a dig when you know one car is AWD, I've never understood that? You say you want to see a real race and go on to mention something that's not a real race or fair comparison...
@@invalidusername_5101 because drag racing (as well as most other racing) is traditionally a race from a stop. Roll racing was invented by street racers that don't know how to launch their car. Drag racing is not just a test of power to weight. You can get that from a sheet of paper. Real racing includes the first 60 feet. I'm well aware of the fact that roll racing is gaining in popularity, and I have nothing against it, but a true drag race starts from a standstill and runs 1320 feet. That is a fair race. Unfair would be an 1/8th mile race where the launch is more important, or 1/2 mile where power is more important. There's a reason 1/4 mile is the standard.

People that race professionally and the people that came becore them are the ones that decided that was the best distance way to judge a contest of acceleration. When they start doing bracket races from a roll, I'll stop suggesting dig races. Btw, I also prefer dig racing in my Fox and my bike.

On a roll it was a lot closer than expected. Some eco boost owner was acting like ITLL be 9 cars ahead which clearly was closer than anyone expected

@@elusivexse this is correct. The 2.7 makes so much torque down low they had to limit it quite a bit to keep the drivetrain intact.

Right now I think there's literally 1 or two fully bolt on air intakes you can buy, 1 set of downpipes for $1300 from a small business. 1 decent exhuast that's only axle back for a grand. No good turbo upgrades. The best you can do right now is a tune and better fuel. Hardly any cosmetic mods that aren't ricey as hell as well. Ford should have stuck with it and let the fusion join the ST family, too bad they hate cars now 😮💨

This might be the dumbest comparison video I have seen yet. You've got a slightly modified car versus a more heavily modified car which originally both made around the same HP stock to begin with. Now you've got one with nearly 130 hp and tq more than the other (~36% more power and only 12% heavier) and you expect it to be a fair fight? Not to mention the Sport is AWD vs RWD, but i dont think it matters too much in this case. Why not race against a stock or tuned GT with about 460hp and more similar weight? Bad comparison of cars tbh.

Depends. Most tuners if you buy the hand held from them they will throw in the tune for free. Average handheld is 400-600$

Oh, now that I watched with headphones on, I see what's happening. Sam arranged an embarrassingly lopsided race, and is very clearly sandbagging the Fusion. You can hear him let off the gas several times in the dig race to the point where he is just kinda cruising at the top end. The first big "pfff" is the BOV, and you can see the mustang lurch ahead immediately after. The the Fusion takes off, but a few more small "pff" sounds reveal why the Fusion stopped pulling away so hard. Sam, if you are gonna set up a slaughter like this, then sandbag to make it more interesting, don't use a car with a blow-off valve vented to atmo.
I want to see the REAL race. Let the owner drive it against a 392 from a dig with traction control off. Who here does not want to see that race (other than Hemi owners)?

@@invalidusername_5101 because drag racing (as well as most other racing) is traditionally a race from a stop. Roll racing was invented by street racers that don't know how to launch their car. Drag racing is not just a test of power to weight. You can get that from a sheet of paper. Real racing includes the first 60 feet. I'm well aware of the fact that roll racing is gaining in popularity, and I have nothing against it, but a true drag race starts from a standstill and runs 1320 feet. That is a fair race. Unfair would be an 1/8th mile race where the launch is more important, or 1/2 mile where power is more important. There's a reason 1/4 mile is the standard.

@@invalidusername_5101 how does it not make sense? Drag racing is about power, weight, AND traction. I'm not the one that decided on 1/4 mile being the standard. People that race professionally and the people that came becore them are the ones that decided that was the best distance way to judge a contest of acceleration. When they start doing bracket races from a roll, I'll stop suggesting dig races.
Btw, I also prefer dig racing in my Fox and my bike.

I was wondering about that to, it's 310 and 350, and PP 330 and 350, wasn't there mention about year or so of a dealer installed Ford tune doing about 10% more power?
