We had the same thing happen the other day on a 2 day. Most successful of us used two hooks on the bottom and thats it. Worked like a charm. No need for assist on top. Also that sd jam to sd jam splice is such a good emergency knot!!! I used to tie it thinking it was a uni to uni but its not and its way better and stronger! Dope to see yall had a good trip thos weekend too!
Wow crazy footage and catches this trip. I am so impressed by how often you are putting anglers on fish, when it seems like the rest of the fleet is hit & miss lately. Well done. Great videos. And really interesting about the top/bottom assist hook configuration. I will def re-consider going two hooks bottom only next trip out.
I use 2 hooks 1 up and 1 at the bottom. I make my own assist to make sure their the right length. I bring 20-30 jigs some flat fall some knife and some In between. Go with lien as heavy as the fish will bite on. For night time nothing under 100lb. Bring big gear to man handle the fish. I prefer to fish 7ft rod reel is 30-50 size with 30-35lbs of drag at strike. I usually bring the drag up slowly until I stop the fish until max drag at strike. If I can get away with it I will set the rod on the rail drag at max and low gear and wind as fast as you can. I’m a decently strong guy but my technique works for me since I’m shorter and practice at home. I’ve landed 200lb tuna in 10-15mins using low gear. If you use lighter line lighter drag, but that’s a waste of time for me 🫠.
what a bunch of professionals! Great video.
Thank you!
I would rather be lucky than good any day 🤙🏻

Booked July 2nd - 4th. Hopefully, they are biting. If not, it will still be fun to get out on the water.

Great to hear! Thank you! 🐟
So you guys recommend one solid hook at the bottom or double assist hooks at the bottom ?
Personal preference! I haven’t seen much of a difference between the two.
The bottom hooks are good enough. I agree
For sure!
Perfer single hook versus hook with assist cord?
When is creeky tiki coming back!?
Dennis is welcome on the boat anytime! Not sure when his next scheduled trip with us is though, hopefully soon.
Is the ocean temp up?
Over the last month temps have jumped up a few degrees! Summer is here

Sounds like you’re very prepared for your trips! Way to go 🎣
@@FishTheLegend you need to prepare weeks in advanced for long range trips. I even have a sleep schedule. Everything in accounted for.
