    Sarah I just need to thank you. I gave birth to my first baby on feb 11 and I had a wonderful, peaceful (albeit intense!) unmedicated birth and I’m telling you that a HUGE reason I was able to have a beautiful experience was because of all your videos I have watched and your birth class! I was afraid of birth most of my life and the more I educated myself through your content as well as other things I arrived at birth unafraid! AND MY LABOR NURSE SAW MY PRINTED OUT AFFIRMATION CARDS FROM YOU AND RECOGNIZED IT RIGHT AWAY AS YOURS!! she loves your content and was sooooo kind and respectful of my birth preferences and it was like an answer to prayer. My only regret is that I didn’t get to talk to her more (I came in at an 8-everything went faster than expected and her shift ended right before my baby was born). But it was all a powerful amazing experience!
    To anyone afraid of birth- you CAN do this! Keep watching these videos and educate yourselves so u can be prepared for all scenarios. Flex and flow like Sarah says and be confident that birth can be beautiful and u can do it!

    My son was born in May 2021 with shoulder dystocia and in a compound position. It was a very traumatic experience, I wish it was talked about more. I educated myself, watched every video and read every book and still was not prepared for this. I pushed for 5 hours and 2 minutes and delivered vaginally, his head was crowning for almost 2 hours. He had a VERY cone shaped head!! Thank you for talking about this. Please do a video about delayed postpartum hemorrhage! I almost died 5 weeks after birth due to this.

    I love that coffee and questions videos are back! ♥️ 2 c sections and one technically successful vbac immediately followed by emergency surgery due to full uterine rupture. We are so thankful that everyone is fine! Birth trauma is SO REAL! My question is, after a full rupture, how long would be a good ammount of time before possibly conceiving again? I'm not sure we will, still working through all the emotions almost a year later, but I like to be prepared and make a plan. Thoughts?

    I had a 9lb 9oz baby just over a year ago and he had shoulder dystocia. The doctor tried to corkscrew him around but he was pretty stuck. The nurse did end up pushing pretty roughly on my stomach/public bone but I had an epidural so I didn't feel any pain. The baby did, however, give me a nice fourth degree tear. It healed fine and everything but it was somewhat concerning in the moment. All ended up fine and he's the cutest little toddler now 🥰 I wouldn't say it was a traumatic labor for me, but there was definitely a lot going on haha

    When I was born I had a shoulder dystocia. As a result I sustained a total brachial plexus injury to my left arm. Could you talk about why this may happen. I can't ask my mother cuz she doesn't have the best birth memory ( for obvious reasons) and I think likely she doesn't actually remember it all. My dad unfortunately missed the birth due to unforeseen circumstances and so he can't tell me what took place either.

    Hi Sarah! I had been meaning to ask you to cover shoulder dystocia, so I was happy to see it in this video. I experienced this with my son, and in our case they were pressing down hard on what I thought was my pelvis but it must have been the pubic bone! About 2-3 weeks after delivering, I experienced a lot of pain in my lower left side. I could barely use the stairs or walk and it lasted about 3 weeks. Could this be related to the shoulder dystocia? Secondly, my OB said since it has happened once there's an increased risk of it happening again. She said for a future baby she would be totally okay scheduling a C-section, and is also fine with me having a vaginal birth. We are trying for #2 so it's been on my mind. What are some of the bigger risks with shoulder dystocia and when does it become an emergency? Sorry this got lengthy, thank you so much!

    Hi Sarah! I love watching your videos. I’ve been watching for two years now. Hopefully for future C&Q….I am currently due with our 5th child the first week of July! Even though this will be my 5th birth…I still feel super unprepared. With all of my previous babies I was induced and got an epidural, and this time I desperately want to go into labor on my own and have an all natural birth. The tricky part is my mom lives an hour away and the hospital is a half hour away. In your experience, how quickly do labors move with a 5th baby? I know the contractions every 5 minutes for 1 minute long in 1 hour rule, but does that apply for fifth birth? I’m nervous about labor moving too fast to get my mom here to watch the kids or to make it to the hospital. How can I prepare myself? I feel totally stressed out about it and it’s just now March. 🤣

    Hi Sarah! I was wondering what you think about this. I am 26 weeks pregnant and had covid a few weeks ago. It was pretty mild as I was double vaccinated and boosted but I since heard that it is my hospitals policy to induce women who had covid during pregnancy at 38 weeks. My last 2 babies came right when they were due naturally, so I would hate to intervene unnecessarily. Do you think it is medically necessary to do that seeing as though I really wasn't affected badly by the infection to begin with? I want to advocate for myself not being induced but I would like your opinion. Thanks in advance 😁

    What is the likelyhood of a second labor being mostly not painful?
    With my first, I didnt feel contractions until i was probably 6cm. I didnt feel the need to ask for an epidural until about 8 or 9cm. Is this likely to happen again for my second? Or could it be more painful?

    Hi! I have a question about mindset and deadlines for you. I’m roughly 5 months pregnant, my husband is deployed and is supposed to return when I am like… 38 weeks. This is my fourth baby, the first three had to be induced at 39 or 40 weeks because of baby’s gigantic size. Do you think that there is at all any chance that my husband getting home and that wave of relief might throw me into labor on my own for the first time? Thanks for your input. Also any comment on how my body will handle intimacy after 8 months of nada? Should be just bypass it altogether until after baby? Lol.

    Hi Sarah!
    I have had two successful vaginal deliveries. I found you during my second pregnancy and binged watched your videos. Your videos helped me accomplish my goal of being further dilated before getting an epidural for my second delivery. With my first daughter I tapped out @6cm (19 hrs into labor, labored for a total of 23) with my second I tapped out @9cm (14hrs into labor, labored total of 16.5) I had your breathing technique video playing while I labored at home and am freaking proud of my self for meeting my goal.
    My question to you is, for my next baby how would you reccomend going all the way with no epidural? With getting to 9cm I feel confident I can give birth unmedicated but don't know how to mentally prepare for that.

      Hire a doula :) I realize it's not free but we thought it was worth it. And know that you CAN DO IT. You are not less capable than all the other women who have ever done it without an epidural. Go into it knowing you won't get one.

    Hi Sarah, I absolutely love your videos! My question to you is: how likely am I to tear on a future delivery on the same spot I torn with the delivery of my first baby, if I had a reaction to the suture lines and my tear split open again and healed like that?
    Thank you 😊😘

    • @lyss222
      @lyss222 2 года назад +2

      I just want to share my experience because I worried about this, too. I had a third degree tear from my first and it didn't heal well, I had the stitches tear a second time after a couple of weeks from constipation 😭. With my secons I ended up with somewhere between a 1st and 2nd degree even though he was a much bigger baby. The tear did happen in the exact spot of the scar tissue from my first tear and my ob said that was likely why I tore. But recovery from that tear was 100% easier than from the third degree. I really had no issues whatsoever and very little pain from it! I didn't do anything differently, he was just optimally positioned on the way out.

    (For the next coffee & questions)
    How common is it for people to give birth without experiencing the pain of labor/contractions (example: I went in for an induction 3 weeks ago and less than 45 minutes after they placed the Cervidil my baby's heart rate started going nuts - marked variability and prolonged fetal deceleration - it was super scary and I ended up getting a C-section within 3 hours of getting admitted)? So I wasn't ever in labor and don't even know what contractions feel like! Such a weird feeling to have a baby without knowing what labor is like.
    Follow-up question! What would you have done if you were my nurse in this situation? My nurse first attempted changing my position (left side, right side, hands & knees), then pulled the Cervidil, eventually paged the doctor in due to the marked variability. She was on board with doing the C-section rather than waiting it out because they said it was highly likely to happen again in which case it would have been more of an emergency situation. Found out after delivery that baby's cord was around his neck.

    I got to the hospital at 7cm as a FTM and delivered my baby 2 hours later. It wasn’t fast enough to be precipitous labor, but should I be worried about making it next time? How can I watch for signs that things are moving “too fast?”

She was stuck for 1.26 mins and they tried corkscrew and mcroberts didnt work. She was born without any injuries and i didnt tear. I am now 32 weeks pregnany with my and daughter who is measuring slightly bigger than my first and they are trying to push a c section. It is a hard decision to make.

    • @anniewiebe
      @anniewiebe 2 года назад

      Depends how short, but even then you never really know! Some people go into preterm labour without having a short cervix, and some women with a short cervix go past their due date! A short but closed cervix (meaning effaced but not dilated) will likely be less risk than a funneling cervix (dilating and ballooning open on the baby's side of the cervix but not yet dilated on the vaginal side).

    Question from your other coffee and questions video- in a couple videos you mention food and gift cards for nurses, but isn’t it illegal for healthcare providers to accept gifts - like a kickback? I understand we’re not talking about a lot of money, but I thought healthcare providers were required to turn down gifts, even small ones? That’s why I’ve never brought gifts when in the hospital- but maybe I’m wrong?
