    I love this! I visit Paris as much as possible, and use all forms of public transportation. The Metro is definitely my favorite. I've recently began riding more buses to see more of the city, but we walk approximately 10 miles per day around the city. I've been on every line! Thanks for the RUclips posting, it's like going home!

    • @mangococonut4918
      @mangococonut4918 3 года назад +2

      These are the oldest trains on the metro. Additionally, the same type of "selective door operation" trains, as you put it are also on lines 3, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. There are the trains on line 11, which are the absolute oldest on the metro, and the ones on lines 3, 10 and 12. And as strange as it may sound, these are opened with door knobs of some sort. And then there are the ones on lines 7 and 8, which are also with "selective door operation", but with buttons instead. There are the same trains as on line 7 and 8 on line 13, but line 13 has been a little bit "automated", if I can say so, so they don't have that thing. Aaand, that was some info on the Paris Metro.

      Hey, that's like me! I lived in Paris in my teens, from 1980 to 81 ... The Paris Metro began my ongoing fascination with subways. :) I used to skip school, just so I could explore various parts of the city by metro or by bus (no trams back then).
      I've been back to Paris a couple of times, and actually avoided the metro because of all of the mental illness that is constantly on display in the metro ... Lots of "clochards" and people acting odd. I think they've cleaned it up a bit, though.

    • @condits55_66__77____99
      @condits55_66__77____99 6 лет назад +4

      MP 89 trains (like most subway trains) are supplied with DC voltage and are equipped with three-phase asynchronous motors. In order to convert the provided electrical power (DC voltage) into a form that can drive the motors (three-phase AC voltage), and furthermore, to achieve that the power is used most efficiently (i.e. get the optimal torque or acceleration), power electronics like GTO inverters are utilized. The distinctive sound is caused by the alternating magnetic field that stimulates some mechanical oscillations in the windings of the induction motor. These mechanical oscillations propagate through the air, thus becoming audible to us.

    It's interesting how almost all the stations have the same shape - elliptical ceiling and walls, which does look nice, but gets quite boring as they all seem to have white tiles... Looks a bit sterile and dull unfortunately... I think it would look great if they tiled the stations with colourful tiles and patterns and used different lightings like at 2:34 . Give every station a bit of unique character... :)

      No, and I do have a few examples in mind. Some stations have only one entrance/exit at the front or the back depending on the direction of the train. Some stations have access in the middle of the platform and not at the end.
      Europe, Saint Lazare (line 14), Passy, Anatole France, Volontaires, etc.

      +Malcolm Hartney I dislike the new trains intensely. And there is even worse news- they have installed those ridiculous platform doors (like on parts of the Jubilee Line) on all the central Paris stations on Line 13. I hope this is not a foretaste of more of them to come. By the way, the new trains are now on Line 9.

      Hi Voxley19, I am going there in a week's time, via DFDS ferry so I shall inspect! Now have quote to leave INF. At least 500 are going. We must meet soon! MH

      @voxley19  7 лет назад +1

      +Malcolm Hartney Try and check if La Fourche station on line 13 has the dreaded platform doors. You must find out if you hold the world record for time in the INF.

    • @malo66
      @malo66 7 лет назад

      Perú nunca ha diversificado su geografía para ofrecer un buen número de ciudades con industria y trabajo a lo largo del país, para que no tengan que hacer una emigración interior. Lima no está preparada en infraestructuras de transporte, ni los distritos diseñados ni para absorber un 33% de la población del país.
