Might be unpopular, but I want DSLRs to stick around. I know camera development and production is market driven, but I'd like DSLRs to stick around. I'd still like to think there's a specific audience that still likes them
Honestly I'd rather look at a mirror then a tiny screen, at this point the technology is so amazing and over the top that yesterday's camera is still more then 99.9999% of photographers can use.. It's all preference. I'll just go back to the basement with my FM2 and rodinal now.

DSLR is way more reliable in my opinion. Battery life, hardy, lens choice, and close to zero wait time.
Last of its kind? Did Canon or Nikon confirm the end of DSLR bodies? No. Do DSLR bodies from either company sell more than Mirrorless? Yes.
What I wish Nikon would include in their mirrorless bodies moving forward is a slide shield to cover the sensor upon lens changes or at least drop the shutter mech automatically.
Their was an old film camera that used to do that. (All Nikon DSLR cameras do it, when you're not shooting the shutter covers the sensor).

Nice video, Lok. Just one tip : with the Canon cameras you should bias the camera towards focus, not speed/release! If you set the bias to speed & release priority it will shoot at 16fps/20fps no matter what (whether in focus or not). If you set both settings to focus priority, the camera does its best to maintain focus, meaning it may slow the fps slightly in order to maintain focus. This results in more correctly focused images. That camera should virtually give you a 100% hit rate on a motorcyclist driving by, even a much lower end Canon camera can achieve that. Obviously, as with all cameras, if other vehicles get in the way it will lose focus.

Personally, I want this camera as a long term workhorse shooter. My 6D II is ok image wise, but it's not rugged enough or weather-sealed enough for situations I want to be in.
Worth it upgraded my first gen 6d from 2012. Amazing camera.

What is QXD?
You buy a really expensive pipeline, buffer and write speed in an incredibly rugged camera body. It won't be the last one till they start making mirrorless cameras in an equally durable camera body. The pros want it to be able to withstand a good amount of abuse. The mirrorless bodies also need to come up with a solution for how much dust they tend to get on the sensor. Many of these cameras go into the field with dust, sand and grime.
Those things are pretty much the only reason to keep making these that I can think of. I kinda hope that people aren't buying a lot of EF-mount lenses in 2020. Having a large amount of EF lenses is bound to be keeping A LOT of people from switching. And I guess that the more people do make the jump, the more good deals you can get on used EF gear. That would actually making the system better for people who don't need an upgrade.

The 1DX is really great when we need to get rough with other unfriendly reporters, I had my A9 cracked twice by the 1DX2.

Anyway just to say that i'm pretty sure you don't need a big rugged body that can do 16fps mechanical shutter to be a *"PRO"*
4 years is a really long time frame, so it will be hard to make a quick conclusion if DSLRs are going to be something of the past. However, it really does show how Canon seems to be focused on improving their sensor-based AF and it makes us all giddy for the incoming EOS R5. On a other note, what if 1DX Mark IV will be the camera that incorporates hybrid OVF/EVF? Hmm......
Begs the question why they didn't put a hybrid in the iii. I think there's one more 1D.

I do Paparazzi, I want to stay stealthy most of the time and the tape help to make the white lens less noticeable.
Just got my 1dx mark iii. Wow 🤩.
My most favorite feature of the new Canon 1DX Mark III is the freeze function. The camera goes to “sleep” briefly after taking a few shots with the camera. The autofocus points and camera information disappear from the viewfinder and the camera becomes unresponsive for a short time. It is an indicator how boring the shots are you currently take, a kind of AI. Nice, Canon, I like it, did not expect such brilliant feature on a 6500 USD camera 😂 LOL
I'd rather a Camera that:
1.No video.
2.No Silly "selfie" screen.
3.No Pop up flash.
One of the reasons I bought a used D3... Sadly when i moved up to the 850... well you know..

I was for a decade shooting with DSLRs, Canon, Nikon, ... you name it. Mostly for Wildlife. But for me the Sony A9 changed everything. Especially after Sony pushed on the market pro grade Primes like the Sony 400mm 2.8 GM and Sony 600mm 4.0 GM. I can do now everything what I can do with a DSLR and more. As a Wildlife shooter, you can maybe imagine how great the Lock-On function of the Sony system is for me. I get images I would miss with any DSLR. Also with the Canon 1DX Mark III because you hardly use a DSLR in Live View Mode, especially not together with a 600mm 4.0 Prime. So no, the 1DX Mark III might be nice but it is like a dinosaur from old times. Not my thing.
Yeah... one can shoot 5.5k60FPS 12bit RAW and has a buffer of 1000raw files.. the other only 4k30 8bit. and buffers for 30 seconds after 100-200shots.. who is the dinosaur here?
@@MikedieONE The 1DX Mark III of course. Because when I need a video cam, I will get one. For stills the 1DX Mark III is garbage and from yesterday. Everyone investing so much money into this dinosaur will see a substantial depreciation over the next 2 years as DSLRs will be dead then. Same situation like at the end of film. So better sell all DSLR gear as long as you get something for it. You like to hear it? Guess not. Reality is brutal for you DSLR freaks.
@@MikedieONE you really feel obliged to defend this camera don't you? Everyone has their preferences, for stills the Canon might be better, but for a lot of hybrid shooters mirrorless will just be a better option. Different people need different camera's.
Problem with the A9 is I cannot shoot few minutes in raw non-stop without filling up the buffer. Not until Sony change to CFexpress I can only use my A9 as a spare camera. Plus the new Canon 400 and 600 are actually a bit better.
Photo Living The Canon 400mm 2.8 III and Canon 600mm 4.0 III are NOT better than the Sony 400mm 2.8 GM and Sony 600mm 4.0 GM. I know that because I own all of them and we use them for our Wildlife work. So don’t tell her something like this if you cannot directly compare by yourself. The linear motors used in the Sony GM lenses make these lenses much, much faster in autofocus than anything what Canon can offer. Also sharpness is slightly better. That’s it. And for the buffer, let me make it very clear that you don’t shoot like with a machine gun. So that’s also bullshit and a nonsense argument.

I'm not done with mirrors yet, I still feel they have an edge over mirrorless at the momment, give it 4 years tho and I think things will be different. Tho let's be honest film and the dark room is the way to go!!

Fujifilm just released the XT-4, it has 30shots per second in digital sensor mode. It's crazy, you should check it out.

If you use the itr tracking mode it will kick the sony's ass all over tge show. Has deep learning. You just need to use it.
The focus tracking on this camera is amazing. If you cannot keep it on a motorcycle, you are doing something wrong.
