I set that small joystick to move also the AF points and when you push it in, it doesn't matter where the focus point is located it goes immediately to the center focus erray you have set up .... that works amazingly good for shooting soccer and football.....
....and here it is folks...after 26 years of shooting NIKON flagship bodies, THIS is why I am moving on over to the other side of the aisle! It’s a chunked boy that doubles as a melee weapon...sweet.
Lifelong Nikon shooter here and I'm thinking about the same. I love my D850 and D4s (passed on the D5) but looking at the D6 specs compared to this....hmm. Maybe I'll tiptoe into the water and keep the D850 for wider angle lenses and use the 1DxMkIII for telephoto...Damn it, Nikon!
Honestly I still prefer optical evf. If canon could do a hybrid it would be the perfect combo. I love mirrorless for video but not for photo. There still is not an EVF good enough that competes with what its like when you look through a good optical. Especially the optical on the 1dx series its massive and so bright its a joy to use.
I shoot Track Cycling at Velodromes, I have a 1D MK IV and a 1DX MKII and I will be buying the MKIII very soon and I will be using all three because an EVF is still not good enough for fast sports. It's that simple.
I've actually shot much lacrosse, but it is high school, and mostly girls (which is a FAR different game than boys) I plan to get the Canon R6 soon though.
One if the best review on youtube! After watching it, I’m trying to decide between 1DX Mk3 and R5. I most shoot photos and not much video. I usually shoot events, so very dark places and people moving fast. With my 6Dii, 5 out of 10 shots are blurred & can’t use them. If money is not an issue, which one do u think is better?
Hi KruiserIV, no we didn't test this. But anecdotally it does seem faster than anything we've ever used before (mechanical shutter). Also worth mentioning two things: 1. It's the only camera in existence to shoot (let's say appx) 16fps with absolutely no buffering (pretty much). 2. Everyone has a pre-production camera, and Canon was very explicit in saying that the camera will perform better with final firmware. Will this affect the shutter? I don't know - but I would imagine that Canon is doing their best to be accurate in their specs.
Vistek | Your Visual Imaging Experts Haha. Well you have an ally in me. The whining about what video features aren’t & should be in DSLRs, when there are affordable and capable cinema cameras out there, is beyond irritating at best. Kudos to you sir!
Hi again KruiserIV - this is 100% purely anecdotal. It was Evan's experience when using both cameras. Lots of things affect autofocus performance, such as your settings, the scene, the subject. the lenses, ect. Take the anecdotes as that, and not as empirical proof.
If you listen to what was said in context you would understand why. Focusing on one object and not needing eye AF. Canon AF is still one of the best systems out there even compared to an A9. The A9 is good if you have a subject moving all around the viewfinder. If you are shooting where the subject is in the middle of the screen, the A9 offers no advantages over any other professional offering.
There was a video testing the 3 brands focus reliability and it went Nikon-Canon-Sony. It was generic jogger run towards you done like 100 times as a "sports' test not a true real world. But my experience is sony is fast but sloppy, you shoot 10 frames and like frame 4 and 7 are completely out of focus. Nikon slower but more accurate, also shoots thru nets like volleyball better. Just my experience, and i tried after the A9 firmware updates
I love this camera Could I buy it, if I wanted to yes I could, do I need it ,no.I have Canon and Fuji cameras . I wish camera makers, producers would make a video camera only because I am so sick and tired of hearing photographers complain about cameras not shooting good video.
Hey man love the video, definitely worth a like 👊 I uploaded a video yesterday about how to start freelance videography with an iPhone! I’d love any comments or feedback you had on it 😊 thanks in advance and keep up the great videos ❤️
As well as photographer, I'm an arborist who uses a chainsaw. I think those little "falling off" arms need some muscle !!! The 1DX mk iii is a featherweight compared to truly heavy tools. It's not light, but still a chasm away from "arms falling off" ... enjoyed the feedback though, very interesting points ... Cheers, M. D. Vaden / www.vadenphotography.com
@@vistek LOL .. it would make an eye catching intro holding a STIHL saw & CANON body !! More unique than Polin's "sniff test" ... Yesterday, it didn't come to mind, but when 400mm lens is mounted, the kit can weigh close to a Stihl climbing saw MS 201 T
It is weird that complaints come up now when pro bodies been around for more than 20 years. I feel they're actually smaller and lighter than when using camera plus screw on battery grip. I carry 2 or 3 with me all day, it stays on a harness till i lift it up a few seconds to shoot, or i use a monopod.
I am not so sure about some statements made in the video. I come actually from Canon and still use for my Wildlife work the Canon 1DX Mark II together with a Canon 600mm 4.0 III. And I was actually awaiting the Canon 1DX Mark III. Am I disappointed now with the 1DX Mark III? I would say I am not convinced this is the camera I would buy next for my work - not at all. The 1DX Mark III shares basically the same sensor technology like the 1DX Mark II. No change. Also still 20MP. For Wildlife this is really poor as cropping is quite limited. At least 24MP or 30MP I would have expected. I also cannot see any catch up in Autofocus with the Sony A9 - this is the benchmark today. If you ever used the Lock-On function on the A9 for fast moving objects, well, there is nothing comparable on the market today. And you pointed out the buffer - well, I never had the buffer of the 1DX Mark II as a limiter in my work. And by the way: all the nice functions in Live View are of Limited use for Wildlife as you hardly use a 600mm 4.0 prime in Live View. It’s most of the time used with OVF and here we have just a slightly improved DSLR compared to the 1DX Mark II. My conclusion is that I will not go for the Canon 1DX Mark III but wait on true professional mirrorless version. Knowing this camera may take 1-2 more years to wait what is ok for me. If I would have to make a decision today it would the Sony A9.

Wow,,,, I love the sketch of the Olympus E10 in the back ground Wow,,, bring back memories from the year 2000 !
I'll pass the comment on to my very talented girlfriend. Thanks!

I recently got a R6 mkii but i still love my 1DX mkii. It feels so responsive and authentic.

The 5D mark iv autofocus is better than the a9??? Lol yeah right sure it is.

Thanks so much for the comment and the support, Eric.
great video
Thanks Ronnie! Really appreciate it.
Should take battle: Nikon D6 vs Canon 1dx m iii
Does the 1DX III provide actual 16 FPS? It's been said by several others that it doesn't. Were you able to do any actual tests?

Great review, so glad I stayed with Canon.
The A9's autofocus is worse than the Canon 5D IV's? That's a definite first.

My daughter plays girls lacrosse in the UK. Not a big sport over here. She plays in goal🥍

I have to ask when you compare to A9 do you use a long Sony Lens?
Helloooo Canon goodbye fujifilm 😎🇺🇸
Hm 🤪a9 or a9ll is fast to focus ..... but he Said he did not use it so long 🙌🏾
Quit yakking so much about the technical aspects and start talking about actually shooting/photographing SPORTS like the title of the video says.
Дикое рубилово в деревне Ивантеевка снимали местную пьяную команду перед сенокосом. Затвор Canon 1DX mark iii вхлам разорвался, треснул
Skin tones look dead, and please don't tell me because it's pre prod camera, final version will the same I'm 100% sure
Watch it in x1.25 thank me later
