Thanks Tyler. For some reason I feel like I relate to you more than some other RUclipsrs I follow... but, either way, your presentation of information is something that resonates with me, for sure! Thanks man, keep it up!
@@TylerEdwards hey man might sound silly but the fx6 a7siii and c70 have low bit rates 4k 120 and all under 300mbs then you have c300 mkiii 1dx mkiii at 2gbps like is there qaulity advantage and why did fx6 go with the low bit rates...even though it does have avci 4k 60 600mbps
Good info! Pleased to hear Atomos have finally provided firmware which adds a full video range input option. People have been asking Atomos to add this feature to their recorders for quite a while as the standard video input displays and records crushed blacks and blown highlights and gives inaccurate reading on waveform monitor when recording log footage.
For real. It’s about time they updated it haha. It was collecting dust for a while because it was useless to record with. That and the false color is much improved to where I actually use the Ninja V much more now haha. Thanks for dropping by!
Excellent review. Most of those points could be added in by improving the firmware, but they probably won't do it just to keep it separated from other models.
I'm poking around RUclips looking for a good reason to upgrade my 1DXM3 to a C80. But... seeing how beautiful your footage is, I'm almost persuaded to stick with my 1DXM3. How long did you keep your 1DXM3 in service? Great video. Even if it's four years old.
If you are still here bless your soul hahaha!! Great review and straight to the point. I miss my 1DX ii but couldn't handle the 4k file size and for my documentary work it was not conducive to shoot 4k all day. This new version is what I'm kind of after. Thanks for the review.
Hello there I am a bit late, but I do have a question based on the existing cameras right now R6, R5 if you could get a canon 1dx 3 cheaper than an R6 will you get it instead of the R6?? Your personal opinion. Also in the place that I am living I can get also a c200 second hand at the same price of an R6 but I think for the work I do the 1dx 3 will make more sense, since the others Rs overheat. And I do a lot of gimbal work. Thanks in advance
do you recommend this as a good stills pro camera..........veggie wise it will have to be mushrooms............yes i watched it to the end thank you for your time
Hey Tyler, thank you for all your effort in putting this video together, I used to have a 1Dxmkii really disliked the 120fps, found it too mushy, However yours in this video looks much better, what are your thoughts? Also can you output the 120fps in 10 bit log over the HDMI?
I think the 10-bit color depth and log really helps the 120p in this camera. I believe the 120p outputs over hdmi as 60p but I’ll have to double check on that. I need to test it for sure! I appreciate you watching this video!
@@TylerEdwards Thanks man, really good info you are providing, I actually replaced my 1Dx mkii with a C100mkii and a eos r, but will prob upgrade to a C200 or C300 mkiii if and when it comes out.
Good stuff bro 👍🏾. When it comes to canon we use the word “IF” a lot. If canon would’ve added this, “IF” canon would’ve put this in. As good as canon cameras are we’ll always be wondering why did canon leave out this feature. My favorite vegetable is corn.
I would love to get my hands on one of these, but I think I'm going to wait for the R5 before a major purchase. Maybe something I would rent for a big project. You had tons of SICK shots in this that really got me drooling over this thing, but again, I gotta wait! Loved the Colorado and Charleston content! Got me missing the USA. Thanks for keeping it under 3 hours! Yeah, I found it entertaining, but I'm twisted. Artichokes FTW!!!
I’m trying to decide between 1DX Mk3 and R5. I most shoot photos and not much video. I usually shoot events, so very dark places and people moving fast. With my 6Dii, 5 out of 10 shots are blurred & can’t use them. If money is not an issue, which one do u think is better?
Hi, thank you for doing these videos. It is very useful. Do you know if it is possible to record 10 bit on one card and 8 bit on another at the same time? Thank you. I'm into paprikas.
Man I was freaking out until now about 5.5 raw not being highlighted on the video menu, thinking I'd been sold a faulty one the other day! I got this thing here in the UK for £5400 which was kind of too good to be true considering it's usually still at the 6k price tag so I was obviously extremely suspicious as to why... It was when you said that you had to enable Canon Log first that all the worries melted away. THANK YOU!! Subbed.
Thanks for making this! Might be a stupid question to ask, but I'm considering getting a C200 or potentially this 1DX III. I know they're different cameras, but any thoughts on your preference in terms of quality but also usability?
It all depends on your needs. For strictly video, c200 all day. Xlr, built in ND, ergonomics, lightweight 8-bit codec, etc. If weather sealing and photos are important, the 1DXIII is a better choice.
Like your real world opinion and matter of fact approach. Great synopsis. I want to live in a world where the first 2 minutes isn’t about liking and subscribing to someone.
To get the best image out of this camera totally depends on the skill of the user in camera operation and post production. For exemple when you have the silly hat shirt on your skin tones are way to magenta. You musta been filming in 4 bit at the time eh?
Do you ever use it for photo? I use video and photo so i was considering this camera. But i heard about the oil splatter issue that comes with the 1D’s. Have you heard it or experienced it?
Very informative so it didn't feel long at all... I would love all those features you mentioned added via firmware but I didn't see Canon adding that stuff (besides the time-lapse) as I think it could hurt sales of the mid level Cinema cameras. However maybe they learned their lesson from the last 5 years where they let Sony add all the features and lost significant market share to them.... and one last thing.. Cucumber.. very refreshing..
Ya I don’t see them adding anything I mentioned honestly but it would be sweet for sure haha. Thanks so much for watching! Cucumbers are delicious! Stay safe and healthy!
Tyler Edwards Really it all depends on the project. I own a RED Scarlet which I only use on clients that have budget to justify it, I also own Blackmagic & a bunch of canons... I usually rent for larger budget jobs but I have been using the 1DXii daily for photos/side projects/broll and just want to know if you can see a major difference between the II and iii since you’ve been using it. I’d hate to buy $6500 paperweight hahaha.

Great video Tyler! Not too long at all, I dig the longer content. This is basically my same exact feelings on the 1dx iii. Thanks for sharing bro!
Haha ya bro. I really wish we didn’t live exactly on opposite sides of the country lol. I wanna collab on something!

Great looking footage - nice work Tyler! I'm sure the camera is good, but the operator clearly knew what he was doing.
Many thanks for the kind words and watching Curtis!

Some of the best footage I've seen out of the 1DX Mark iii, great video man

What are your go to lenses for videos with 1dx m III? Amazing content by the way!
It’s great to hear about what this camera is like from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Footage looks good. Thanks

Nope!

Terrific. What lenses do you use most? What is your raw video to C Log ratio? Are the raw files huge?
It would be really neat if you compared canon log 1 vs 2 vs 3. Can't find a video on this
