Just heard about Dusty. I'm an old ass man, at work, sitting at his desk, with tears in my eyes.
RIP Dusty.
I’m 65. Tears too!
What keeps hitting me is that Billy has played with the same bass player ever since that 3 hour jam in 1969. Sign me... another teary-eyed old dude.
Me too. I'm devastated...
Hit me hard too brother
Lotta wet-eyed old dudes tonight, brother. Hooked on 'em since Fandango.
I got to experience ZZ Top's World Wide Texas Tour at the Brave's Stadium in Atlanta Ga back in 1976. The best concert I have ever been to. RIP Dusty
Seen them in Huntsville Alabama about that same time I agree 👍best concert I've been to and I've been to a lot of them
I saw them in early 80s before eliminator came. El
loco I think was the supporting record . I believe opener was joe perry group
I saw the same tour at Anaheim Stadium. with Blue Öyster Cult, and Johnny+Edgar. A great show it was.
@@danielgoertz2664 COOL
Saw them on 17 July, 1976, in Tulane Stadium, in New Orleans, with the J Geils Band - AND! I agree. Countless concerts later and feel the same.
You have to understand guys like these. They played night after night, years go by, the same songs over and over again. Occasionally getting asked to play with others and maybe playing something different but it's like listening to the same song for days on end and making it sound better each time. For guys to even stay together like this is awesome. Through all the drugs, alcohol and other temptations during their life and to still step out on stage, give an hour and a half concert and act like they are playing it for you for the first time. WOW !!! Sing, even if you can't, for an hour, some what loud and see what your voice is like. Sit down on a chair, pat your foot to the beat and see how long it takes to get tired. What they do is still something of an art.
since The 70s! They are the real deal!!!!
@@terryfonz4603 since the 60's
The fact that they stuck together for all these years is amazing! And you're right...They've played these songs thousands of times.
@@bflo1000 Nobody can do that!
Well fuckin said man
R.I.P. Dusty, we'll never forget, my son cried when he heard it... and me too.
Me too! 65 yrs old.
X3 56 years old at that moment
the guy rocked the world for 50 years
whats to cry about?
the jobs WE do
he should be crying for us
rock on dusty, you did it right
Always amazed by the sound those 3 guys put out. RIP Dusty
RIP DUSTY THANK YOU FOR ROCKING MY ASS OFF !!!!!!!
RIP Dusty. This was the only time I ever got to see ZZ Top and I was blown away.
I never did :(
Frank is one bad-ass drummer who doesn't get the attention that he deserves......
He's got a lot of help from those percussion tracks.
100% agreed. those first 5 albums are funky as funck.
Best Comment Award...
His evolution, as a drummer, is interesting to me. He clearly got better, and made early, and innovative , use of the new technologies emergent during their early, middle period.
He is great
The coolest grandads of all time, this is rock, nothing flashy or trendy, just music that makes you groove.
How many bands are still around 47+ years later with the original members? Nothing more needs to be said. ZZ Top are fucking awesome and have stood the test of time because the blues never goes out of style!
I was there for this! I left Paul McCartney early to catch ZZ Top, and I was certainly not disappointed! They took the stage, opened up a can of whoopass, and didn't let go until they threw you back leaving you to wonder what hit you! The mix here doesn't really do it justice as to how energetic the show was. An audience of all ages and they were all rowdy as hell! Unbelievable! They've still got their mojo!
Im 59, from Dallas Texas. Seen ZZ Top about 10 times. Theyve always been one of my very favorite bands.
Been drinkin' & toasting Dusty, and the Top, all day.
The tears are flowin' as fast as the beer.
Im with ya Brothers, we lost a monumental mammoth of a legend today,
...and a band that will never be the same again.
I feel so bad for Billy now, his Rock & Roll partner in crime is gone....
Long Live ZZ TOP.... ✌🍺
I salute you , Sir , from the bottom of my heart ! You gotta love that 'lil‘band from Texas , otherwise you‘ve got no heart and soul .
Long live ZZTop , RIP Dusty Hill
@@michaelworse6034
Right On Brother... 🤘
Rest In Peace Dusty Hill :-(
RIP Dusty. You will be missed
He wont be!
Another piece of my youth just died...RIP brother!😥
A phenomenal LIVE band never tired of listening to them after 40 years
Tonight we celebrate. And tonight we weep. We're losing our family.
Rest In Peace Dusty, may the Rock God's welcome you with open arms...
BRILLIANT show by ZZ Top, especially when Billy switches to his Les Paul and starts to blues out, still a great vital band 43 years on!!!
Wow! Two spectacular trios, originating in the 70’s, raging through the 80’s and beyond, each lost a member in just over 18 months time. I grew up listening to, and following these two power trios; where does the time go? Not to mention the longevity of both bands, ZZ Top and Rush, and their members sticking together so cohesively. Quoth the Bard; “...’tis a consummation devoutly to be wished!”
R.I.P. Dusty (7/27/2021) and Neil (1/7/2020)...
P.S.-Also, not to mention, Dusty was about 64 in this vid, so BIlly and Frank are around there as well. These guys are, basically, Medicare aged in 2013, and yet they’re rocking the living #*?%$! out of the place!
Ain't that the truth 👍🇺🇸GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸
They played our high school auditorium in the seventies.
Still rocking 40 plus years later.
One of the very few rock bands that stayed cool even in old age.
😎
🥃
RIP Dusty. Thank you for your music
I consider myself very lucky to have seen the boys 8 times. 7 in Colorado, once at Cheyenne Frontier Days. They were always great. The first show in 1975, they had a live Buffalo, Vulture and about 6 Rattlesnakes. Every show was different. Rip Dusty.
Wouaiss. Ccccoolman😢😢❤
Some people are born to be musicians; some are born to be entertainers; some are born to be unique, unforgettable, and top-of-the-line. Such a group is ZZ Top. They took what they were given and used it all. What a group! Billy's solo on "La Grange" tops just about every hard rock solo, except perhaps Eric's in "Crossroads." He throws in the kitchen sink, plus a few new twists, to me anyway. I'm still trying to perfect it.
SO HARD TO LOSE SOME ONE HOW WE GROW UP LISTENING TO AS A TEEN AND NOW I AM 59 AND STILL GET DOWN TO ZZ TOP REST IN PEACE DUSTY THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC.
Man when he drops the guitar thru his fingers to do the slide after the solo...... Unreal Rock and Roll Royalty right there
Damn I missed it.What song is it?
R.I.P. Dusty. Thank you for all the killer music. You made us Texans real proud, sir.
Billy's solo on Flyin High is amazing! One of their best songs in many years, IMO.
1/2 Million viewers can't be wrong.I used to dance to this stuff back in 1985
AHHH take me with ya, Jesus! RIP Dusty Hill, the best on 4 strings and a great voice, too.
Im grateful I had the privilege to see Zztop live twice and I almost met Dusty and Billy at the Holiday Inn i work at. RIP JOSEPH DUSTY HILL Thank you for all your contributions to classic rock blues im going to miss your vocals you did with Billy Heaven is going to have a wonderful concert with you jimi srv and many other rockers
There is only one ZZ TOP in this world and they are legends of all time and always be.
I can't believe people of RUclips are criticizing this sound......take your god-damned ear-buds off and listen to live music on occasion, this is what it sounds like. And this sounds DAMN good. Glad to have stumbled across this.
Jason Walton well said!
Its a 3 piece band. Plain simple Rock N Roll. Not a 12 piece with dancers and lip syncing.
ive noticed that people are criticizing the sound recording of this specific performance, not the band itself
Jason Walton no shit, ehh...
The bass sound here is awesome!
RIP Dusty, this show was the last I saw them live.... 1983 & 1991 goodbye amigo have a cold one and tell em all how much we miss em'
These men are dedicated far and away. Any of you clowns with negative comments obviously will never understand the meaning of originality and stars of their proud Texas Southern roots. They were the roots and nobody today will know the mark of true professional , gifted musicians unless you are one !!
Over the years ZZ Top has proven itself to be one of the greatest, longest lasting American rock bands of all time. There are few bands with just 3 members who can deliver as much sound as ZZ Top. I've seen this 'little ol band from Texas' live in 1976, 1999, and 2004. (if you like your rock and roll loud, this is the band to see) Even with the passing of time, ZZ Top plays with the same drive and energy that took em to the top in 73.
Never had the pleasure of seeing em iive but the videos do all the talking x
fishinsolitude
Damn straight, here is someone that knows what he is talking about. ZZ Top is still as ROCKING good at 65 years old as they were in the 70's when they "Were that new band out of Texas". Contrary to some of the above IGNORANT comments.
fishinsolitude Yeah I agree! I'm a bass player and this guy is an influence on my playing style!
agreed, caught these guys in Trenton, NJ (2008) ..great seats but had to move upstairs, b/c the ampage was that intense; ears were screaming in short time at show...had to move to top tier to help out...Great show though!!!
ZZ Top is one of the few bands that actually got better with the passing of time! Really like their New Works and the concerts top
48 years and still one of the strongest and coolest sounds around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best bass sound I have ever heard. Farewell Dusty.
Billy Gibbons is the most underrated guitar player of all time. These guys are R&R royalty!

If you're talking to the general public maybe but if you're talking to musicians especially other guitarists pretty much all of them will name Billy in their top 5
I grew up with ZZ Top and I appreciate their music now more than ever.
Billy Gibbons has been blowing my mind from day one...and that day was just about 45 years ago. The way he plays has such feeling, soul and tone...all I can do and have ever done is just shake my head in awe and disbelief!
Been playing covers of ZZ since '72. I've always jammed the first lead to Lagrange but since I'm retired and have the time I've been working getting it precise. OMG! What a Texas blues masterpiece. I've got it worked out but it's going to be another month or two to get it to 160bpm.
Whoever’s responsible for mixing the band is doing a fantastic job. Let us not forget the sound guys. 👍🤟🏼

Man...this is awesome! These guys are still bringing it over 40 years later. I can only hope to be able to stand upright at their age..much less rock a festival. Nice job guys!
We've lost so many of the great ones, Dusty, Greg A., Charlie (Daniels and Pride), Johnny (Cash and Winter),June Carter Cash, Neil, Ginger, Jack Bruce, Ronnie, George Harrison, Stevie Ray, Ray Charles, BB King and many, many more. All I can do as a former drummer is just remember the songs and tunes, and keep them alive in my mind.

ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE!
NEVER!!!!!!!!
Good music (of all kinds) will LIVE FOREVER!!!!! ( except rap).
Real rock and roll not this weird shit they have today
You gotta love this...I've seen ZZ Top a number of years ago...they were great...and this show is equally fantastic! Rock on!
Rest in peace Dusty got to see you three times once at Harrah's in Cherokee n.c. and twice in Charlotte great shows each time
This IS one of the GREATEST rock bands in the history of rock!!
I'm just sayin'.
AFTER ALL THESE YEARS....Z.Z.TOP is still very much alive and doing well.
I love this band It would seem that they are like many good things, they improve age.
One of the best Bands ever!!! I love ZZ Top! !
sure is
Never underestimate the Power of a 3 piece Band....... been a Musician for 45 years, "nuf said".
One of my top, all time bands. No better blues, funk, rock band out there. My top three guitarists, those whose songs I've learned the most, are Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson, and Billy Gibbons. Epic.
***** Appreciate him, but not my style.
An absolute stellar performance....what a tight trio...awesome .... joy.
This is amazing. I love this band. Sound is perfect. The older they get the better they get. AMAZING!!!!!! Dusty, get well soon.
Seen ZZ Top at the Ozark Amphitheatre about 3 weeks after Dusty passed, may he be at peace, and they still rocked a hella show! George Thoroughgood (sp?) Opened for them. Went with family and it's a show I'll never forget ❤
While Dusty has passed his presence was very much felt and celebrated with love, live music and beautiful memories 💕💋😍
RIP Dusty😊
Im 62 and my younger brother turned me on to these guys and their music !! I would pay the price to hear these guys play their stuff any time, makes the shit we are listening to today ," OBSOLUTELY NOT WORTH A DIME "!
What can you say, heavy, funky, blues, rock. Always gets me how their sound is so damn full with just the one guitar and a bass and drums. Always seems like there's somebody else playing rythym in the background but nope. They would blow the roof off of any place they played. They know how to put on a show. And they're so unique looking, sounding, and singing. Nitty gritty southern rock, Texas rock, or whatever you call it.
I love ZZ Top. Sounds as good now as they did before.
MY BUDDY AND I MADE IT UP TO FRONT ROW AT THEIR 8-28-1975 CONCERT IN DENVER! STILL HAVE PICTURES OF THE BOYS, RATTLESNAKES, VULTURES, THEY EVEN RAN A BUFFALO UP ON A SCAFFOLD FOR A MINUTE, TILL IT WENTCRAZY! STILL MAKES ME SMILE!
That was the famous, or infamous, "World Wide Texas Tour"! Saw it in Charleston WVa. The live snakes, the vultures, the Buffalo/bison, cacti, etc. - All on a slightly tilted huge stage in the shape of Texas. So cool for a small town high school dude. Love ZZ Top!
That's crazy. I've been to Charleston. It was pretty small town. You guys are so lucky.
Z Z TOP the best southern rock band of all time !
Texas creates so much musical greatness. ZZ Top, Pantera, and Selena.
And Stevie Ray Vaughan
Johnny winter and Waylon Jennings also
How could we forget Buddy Holly!
And let’s not forget Willie Nelson, Michael Martin Murphey, Jerry Jeff Walker and the Lost Gonzo Band.
@@thomastarwater6035 agreed, all amazing life long great music.
They're getting up there in age too. I still think they kick ass.
As long as they tour, I'll continue to go see them. I never miss them. Whenever they're in my area, I'm there. They never disappoint.
50 years!
71 this year. They’re all 49ers.
Still smoking hot to look at too
Saw these guys play a few years back...no BS theatrics....no crap...just 3 blokes playing great music. Brilliant
Best rock'n'roll blues band to emerge from the USA.
I first and heard and seen their video give me all your loving when I was in Italy 1983.. what a song and band yeah
wrong - elvis and tcb
both!
Can't be beat!!! Been listening to the top for 40years! Awesome!
Saw them here in Ireland, it was an amazing gig. The highlight of my year;-)
The incredible master of the pinch harmonic note on the guitar..........
I first saw ZZ Top in 1973. Were they better then, of course they were 40 years younger. I don't do anything as good as I did 40 years ago. They still rock! Enjoy what they can do now.
***** I agree man, I do everything so much better than I did way back then, I'm a musician and play drums, keys, guitar and sing far better, they are just having a bad night, the sound man could do something, I'm hearing this over a 7.1 theatre system and it still sounds bad.
they are still amazing....one of the best bands ever and no matter how old they get they will be awesome!!!
Just another day at work...rockin n a-rollin with just a few friends there (Live) and a lot friends here (RUclips). Thanks G, from a Native Texan.
You can't ever get sick of blues-based basic rock. It sounds as good now as 30 years ago.
Damn right - the blues is the truth, the blues will never die.
Never ride my motorcycle without ZZ Top loaded up! Much Respect!
Seen them several times since 74. Great Show EVERY TIME. One of the best in the business!
Bass tone : mastered. Guitar tone : mastered. Badass moves : mastered. Crazy cool jackets only the ZZs can handle : mastered. What else ? We
You forgot the skins - Frank Beard in back beating that kit to death...very basic, very rudimentary, and the driving force behind this three-man band, Mario. He's been there since Day #1 too so...one has to imagine, what good is a sports car with all that shiny paint, hot wheels, leather interior, chrome and polish...without an engine worthy enough to pull the load? That's Frank - doing it the only way he knows and only the way FRANK can! Billy? The drive train (transmission, driveshaft, differential, universal)...and Dusty? That rock-hard, power-tuned suspension that keeps the "body" from "bottoming-out" - yeah, you get it. Just, I said it first. :) R.I.P.
@@davesatterfield3892 I can but agree. What a trio ! Spot on, Frank Beard !!!
LOVE ZZ TOP, very underrated, their style, look and feel very fun and unique..they make great music for 3 people.. gotta love the TOP!
We played this concert today sunday to get him off to work. Gave him energy thanks!!:))

I was fortunate enough to be at Bonnaroo this year and saw Paul McCartney then had to hustle over and see ZZ Top. I missed their first couple songs but got to see 3/4 of the show. I gotta say, ZZ Top was one of my favorite shows of the entire week. Those guys can still rock after all these years. And their cover of Foxy Lady was awesome.
Rest in Peace Dusty. Its been one hell of a ride.
3 Man band?????ZZ Top Rips it !!!!!!!!!!!!Been going on for 40 yrs & still going strong!!!!!!Sound as good as ever,1 of the best Southern Rock bands ever, only 3 in the band probably the best Southern Rock Band !!!!!!!!!!!!

u guys are crazy. zz top still rocks after all these years. Billy is still one of the greatest guitar players of all time. 3 guys at their age still putting out music at this high level is amazing. Latest album is maybe their best ever. real top fans appreciate this. they rocked the hell out of panama city beach earlier this year. good job boys!
