No longer the only electric estate 1 of 3 however when we filmed this it was the only one, apologies all
24 new mg5 trophy 0miles £23k on the road March 2024 @...Luscombe Leeds. driven 2500 miles averaged 4.5m/kw. have regularly exceeded 5m/kw. GOM is pretty accurate. Easy to drive , loads of room. only negative rear middle seat is not for an adult too hard.. very pleased with it. only used public charging twice and it worked no problems. Other than that charged on Solar excess at home via Givenergy charger so free fuel.
That’s the way to do it, I think the seat will get more pliable my friend travelled in the rear centre on one of our road trips and was happy. Thank you Alan. We’ve currently the new MG3 on test 😀
Thank you for the review.
Don't understand why they didn't design the rear seats so the base folded up and the back folded flat - would be far more practical.
It’s something that’s not used very often in vehicles nowadays, I loved the Cortina estate for that.
Ps you’re welcome and thank you 😊
@@PlanetautoUK Always folding my back seats down - mind you, I have a wife who seems to think I need to do regular runs to the local recycling centre!
@FudgeMaths 😀 our Civic permanently has the rear seats down too, biking, tip runs etc
Great review! Thank you!
Thank you Tabas for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it.
Great review, I do really like this car. A proper, old fashioned estate, puts me in mind of the Cortina estate my dad had when I was a kid.
That is cool! Ben’s granddad used to have one too - he used it as a funeral car. Thanks, @Ambienfinity 👍
@@PlanetautoUK That makes me feel old LOL
Your only as old as you feel, after a swift run does not count 😀
@@PlanetautoUK 😆
🏃♂️
Thanks for this review. I was planning on changing my MG5 pre facelift to this new version but decided to stay with my one.
You’re very welcome Keith, the only reasons to change are Pilot and the app, if you’re happier with out you’re all good, both impress 😀
It's a huge improvement, if it's still on sale in 2 years its top of the list for a replacement estate car.
Thank you David, what are you driving currently?
@@PlanetautoUK Estate? Last non ev in the stable: Jogger Extreme.
What exactly do you mean, David? Have you test driven one of these?
Trophy with 16 inch? Would be a lot better than the more expensive 17s
Could negotiate with a dealer 🤔
MG4 Estate incoming fairly soon 👍
It’s going to be interesting to see it, and it should do well. Thank you, Will. 👍
Too bad this isn’t available in the US. I have had a 1990 300 TE, 2006 Volvo V70R which I still own and currently a 2021 MBZ all terrain. Love wagons!!
Very cool, we have a C124 230 CE - some rather nice estates there, yes the US doesn’t seem to want any Chinese cars currently, it’s a shame as they’re improving significantly day by day.
Not a crossover, a rare beast.
Yup, an electric estate car 😀
I must admit that I do like the look of this car, and from your comments Ben I think it would comprehensively tick my boxes. However there is one elephant in the room, and that is the high level console, I absolutely detest them and it would preclude me buying one I’m afraid. The versatility of my Honda HRV continues to amaze me, had a big load from the nursery in the back over the weekend including two 8’ trees! (60+ mpg) Keep up the good work Ben look forward to the road test.👍😎
Wow, that’s madness, that’s why I liked the Picasso - They’re very good, especially in this latest guise, yes floating consoles look cool however do limit space a bit, thank you George
2022 plated ? when was this shot ?. Love the idea of V2L as we have a caravan so on site running the 3Kw van would be good
not many caravans are less than 500 kg lol.
We had two, one Silver one Grey, the last one was Autumn. Yes the addition of V2L is certainly welcomed. Thank you Steven
There’s a few, cool retro looks too.
I’ve had a look at the MG5, as really want an EV estate, but it’s just too small for our needs. Needs more boot space. May look at a used e308 but both of them need more useable range. Only other alternative on the horizon is the MG4 estate (if it ever arrives!).
The market for an estate car is still there, isn’t it! It’s the reason why Volvo are bringing out a new one. An MG4 EV estate with more boot space (than the 5) and lots more range is going to suit so many, but until we see one in the metal, no one has an idea yet of how big it’s going to be. Fingers crossed it fits your needs. Thanks, @ISuperTed 👍
There's the vauxhall astra estate, or the 308 estate. Or you might consider an enyaq, id4 or etron Q4 if you don't mind an SUV crossover.
There’s many alternatives just not another electric estate, well not just yet Kipperdog
@@PlanetautoUK There are currently 3 EV estates on sale in the UK: The MG5, Peugeot E 308 SW estate and the Astra electric sports tourer. Porsche also claim that their Taycan cross tourismo is an estate. Unfortunately these are all small estates, so you have to go for an SUV crossover if you want the extra space.
We started this review in April last year and finished it in October, and then released it a few days ago due to bereavement, it was the last car my mum took a road trip in - I honestly didn’t realise since then 2 Stellantis electric estates had been released, thank you 😊
I very like the concept - but it doesn't look appealing (exterior and interior). MG should make a nicer (more expensive) version.
There is talk of an estate version of the MG4 in the works. Thank you.
Which is faster on this electric car. The degradation or the falling second hand value ?
Neither its its sales figures plus the pre facelift is still selling for 15k in good condition 😀
No range when fully loaded, night the jogger estate miles cheaper and bigger. And twice the range.
How technology has advanced over the years. My large 16 year old Mercedes E Class diesel has a range of 650 miles at highway speeds, with no degradation in range since new ?
Who told you that 😮 it holds onto range regardless of a load and there’s the fact it’s a hybrid the Jogger. I loved the petrol one we had on test, but it’s not electric estate car.
Ok, Steve we have a Daimler Benz C124 built by engineers not accountants, Coupe e Class however the MG has more space costs a fraction of the price to charge compared to petrol and a 7 year warranty.
Glad you’ve found a solution that works for you. Thank you, @pstanyer1
@@PlanetautoUK Eight year warranty on the battery. It's in the smallprint of the warranty.
