  • Rick Steiner on Big Van Vader
10 time World Tag Team champion and Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer "The Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner discusses being in wrestling school in Minnesota with Vader and well as knowing him from WCW and Japan. Steiner also talks about the situation that caused Vader some trouble in Japan in the 2000's and reportedly broke his ties with Antonio Inoki and allegedly upset some members of the Japanese underworld.

Vader was one of the greatest and most-underrated heels ever. A big menacing guy who was agile and the true master of the Powerbomb; sorry Sid and Diesel

Rick Steiner is legit one of the most personable people I’ve ever seen do a shoot interview. It really is a shame that he isn’t a major part of wrestling today. Makes it all the more fucked up how Flair buried him and prevented him from being NWA world champion

Damn. Vader had to have run into some really bad dudes for Rick Steiner to go quiet when talking about it.

@@30907bng dude. Just understand 1 thing. You cannot deal with 500lbs dude that is 1.5 times higher than you. You physically cant. No matter who you are. If you are 175-200lbs guy you won't do a single thing to such a guys. But he. He on his turn can kill you with a single slap in the face. It is simple as that. He shouldn't even be a boxer or MMA or whatever fighting shit you can apply to a guy. If you are 500lbs even Tyson in his prime would not prefer to mess with you in real life. Such giants can accidentally kill people not even noticing that. And hey MMA is nota real life fight okay. They have rules. Try to fight gorilla or orangutan. They are not professional fighters nor they had any training besides fighting for their females during their lives. But they are way heavier than you are. Gorilla can pretty much crush your chest with a single hit without any boxing experience. Do you think 500lbs guy had no power, strength? Andre could lift you with one hand holding you by the throat and slam you to the ground if he wanted to. Without your help by the way like it happens in wrestling

@ Evgeny Kondrat while you’re right about that stuff, he was talking about another wrestler who was going to fight Andre, not himself. The wrestler was a big guy as well, obviously not as big as Andre but still pretty damn big, and he was actually a fighter with world-class experience. It’s known that Andre got punked. I’m a huge fan of Andre but you can’t just assume the bigger guy is always going to win the fight lol

They reward the town with free wrestling shows for their cooperation. Free tickets. And the wrestlers, some Japanese but all American wrestlers go to their Restaurant for dinner after the show. Just like a lot of American gangsters the Yakuza have Restaurants also lol. It's a crazy experience.

I managed a restaurant down the street from AWA business headquarters. Brad was a regular. He was a quiet, humble, soft spoken man. Never loud or arrogant like many of his co-workers. He never got drunk and caused a scene like so many of his coworkers. Brad was also kind of small in stature. Honestly, you would never know by looks that he was the extreme badass that shoved Vaders head in the toilet. Yes sir, you are correct he was simply too humble to sell tickets, He couldn't interview.
