Clinton Sparks! I ran a 13 mile half marathon to Clinton’s Smashtime Radio Vol 6 Las Vegas edition. Great interview and filled in the history on the Mix Unit.
Wow dope episode. Hope Clinton Sparks makes that documentary about the mixtape game. Always wondered how those mixtapes were made. Crazy how Jaime brought up Santee Aly. I was cool with some of the people who sold mixtapes there back in 2006. I would take my CD player there and they could give me all the mixtapes they had and I would pick the ones I wanted. When I started buying mixtapes in 2003 I was getting them from amoeba Music when they had spot on Sunset and Vine til they got busted in 2004 thats when I started going to Phat beats on Melrose which is where I got that Clinton Sparks anger management 3 tape. Man those were awesome times. Being able to get the latest mixxtapes every month and being able to listen to the freestyles and see what exclusives DJs were puting on there mixtapes.
Hella capping again ; drum and bass, hip-house, jungle, trip hop and everything in between had already been done and evolved via the Los Angeles Underground throughout the 90s - coming in during the 2000s (this dude and Aeoki) was late AF! (1:06:13) This dude the original Gene Simmons of hit pop and rock is HipHop ;)
Having this follow A-Trak and Shortkut really shows the difference in egos in the industry. I respect the accolades but this guy is gassed up!!
@ChopsWunda very well said!
A documentary on the mixtape era would be crazy!!
Gary Vee is the Clinton Sparks of Motivational Speaking
1:06:15 TC Izlam created "hip step" in the early 90's blending electronic break beats with hip hop influence. he wanted to make people dance. 💜
Clinton is speaking all facts I was there... And another thing no dj works harder than he does not sleep!!#LEGEND
