This is real old school Maiden. A very different feel during the Di’Anno era but you can hear the roots of the classic Maiden sound developing.

It's not just the change in singer, this was pre-Nicko and pre-Adrian. Dennis Stratton was big into the twin guitar sound.

I've been an Iron Maiden fan from the 80's. I always wanted to go see them live, but my parents never allowed me (although they let me to see a Deep Purple concert...). When I was already 30 sumthin' in the 2000's, I got to see them first time. Man oh man, I almost never ever sing at a live venue... But it was like a religious experience, where you know the words of every song and you go in to this 'zone' and you just have to sing even every guitar solo. My favorite live band.

Seen Maiden numerous times over the years including as a support act for Judas Priest in the late 70s in the UK. Yep the first singer was Paul Dianno, he sang on their 1st n 2nd albums. Every time I've seen Maiden they have been outstanding I'm still a massive fan to this day. Love watching your reaction to Maiden it's like you are there. I've only got 1 slight criticism, it's the hat you are wearing !!!!!!!!!

A live version with DiAnno can be seen on "Live at the Rainbow" (1980), which could be another concert special, and it's inly about 30 minutes long. OR..unedited footage of a TV appearance from Germany 1981 is also on RUclips, a little over an hour long.

At a Maiden concert there are teenagers, people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and everyone is having the time of their lives, and everyone is getting along regardless of the age difference. It really is a generation bridging experience. Everyone is having an exhilarating time and leaving with a big smile on their face.

I saw a video of them on the current tour in Florida, from just a few months ago. It's a fans recording so not worth watching but the point is, they opened with Aces High and Bruce at 60 years of age came charging out on to that stage like a 20 year old. I'm 49 and wish I had half that man's energy.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada June 5, 2008 it was the "Somewhere Back in Time" tour where they only played songs from their first 7 albums. I've seen The Stones, Clapton and SRV. but Maiden was easily the best concert I've ever been to. It was also the 56th birthday of drummer Nicko McBrain, so Bruce led the band and the whole crowd in singing happy birthday to him. If you ever get the chance to go to one of their concerts you have to go! UP THE IRONS!

That advert was the first time I heard Iron Maiden, but of course had no idea it was anything other than just a tune used in an advert. All I knew was that it was fast and punchy and had great sounding guitars. My Mum didn't like it.
Then one day I was on my way to a friend's house and on the next street I could heard the song being played through someone's window, and I was amazed that someone had the album of what I could only assume was Lucozade's Greatest Hits.
Fast Forward few years to late 1989 and I had a few Maiden albums and was rapidly becoming a massive fan. I got Live After Death and nearly fell out of my seat when I heard the song again.

Yes, Paul...well, after the first two Albums, and the great sucsess, and a long US-Tour, Paul couldnt handle his drugs/alcohol consum. So, Maiden had to cancel the last few important gig's of the tour. And Steve was pissed of course. And he kicked Paul out. And they found this guy called Bruce. In my opinon there is no Iron Maiden without Bruce. Paul wasn't that bad, but the last years he shows his real Character. A jealous, insulting, honorless egomaniac. Sad but true.

I really wish he wasn't in the band, when you have Dave and Adrian I don't think you need a third guy. When I went to their concert I wore a t-shirt that said "My Maiden doesn't include Janick".
