Cozy Games Are Just Poverty RPGs

  • Cozy Games have grown in popularity recently, especially on the Nintendo Switch. In my opinion, most of these games are just RPGs with less features... But hey, at least the graphics are cute.
Regardless of my opinion, everyone should play video games that they enjoy despite what others think. I really like Diablo 4 and that game gets tons of hate, so ignore the critics.
Thank you all for watching this short video and a special thanks to my girlfriend Jeanne for her help with this one! Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe and have a happy Halloween. :)

Final Fantasy I is my cozy game. Stepping into Cornelia on a new playthrough feels like coming home again.
"Oh, what's that? Garland kidnapped the princess? Up to his old tricks again, I see. Time to arm up and get to work."

I went the other way. I started with more conventional games, and went into cozy games. Because I hate humans, and I'm sick of challenges. That shit is every day of my real life, and I'm sick of getting more of it in my entertainment.
Especially since games have really just always been so fuckin bad in the first place. Nobody just wants to make a good game.
It's always about profit, and always about doing something different rather than effective. Fuck what works, we can't do something some other dev or publisher has already done! Blasphemy for even suggesting it!
That said, it's a fine balance between the mind-numbing idle-clickers that I can't really tolerate, and deeply-involved games that become far too much effort for far too little reward. Both being absurdly tedious. My Time at Portia has a generally pretty good balance of it all in my opinion. Stardew Valley has a bit too much going on and just turns into tedium without enjoyable gain.
For the most part, I'm fine with people enjoying whatever. But there are a lot of games that I think aren't just a matter of taste, but that even liking them at all is directly detrimental to our society as a whole. Like digital drugs. And buying them (particularly those with a lot of microtransactions and other bullshit) actively harms our civilization by supporting corporations hellbent on killing us all...totally by accident, of course.

Agreed with a lot of what you said. And yes everyone should play the games they enjoy regardless of my opinion or anyone else’s :) The games I mentioned in this video just tend to be some of the big name cozy games, but they are the ones that I think are actually somewhat solid. I just hate when developers put out money grab games that are clearly unfinished, and I hate it even more when they hop on a trend like calling it a “cozy game”.

I'm not sure the title of your video fits it's content. Nor that a cozy game is a simple rpg. Looks at games like My time at Portia/Sandrock, or stardiew valley and they both have combat, and not level, but their theme is around the relationship you make with the NPC, and the world building.
It's a different genre that is not just a gateway, and that even hardcore gamers might like. So you conclude you video on "maybe stop those games and try something like a diablo". Well I don't think you really understand what those games are about. And maybe, you should do the opposite, and stop playing mmo and RPGs and try a cozy game for once.
