One of my fave games that I would consider a 'cozy game' is Cat Goes Fishing. It is very simple and has a day/night cycle that changes the fish in the sea. It can be a bit eerie at times when you sink to the silent depths of the ocean, but as you rise to the surface, the music slowly comes back which makes the journey down far more impactful

    More cozy games:
Untitled Goose Game - A lovely game set in a little English village where you play as a goose. If you find satistfaction from making people suffer, this game is for you.
Va11 Hall-A - If you liked Coffee Talk, you might like this. Its a visual novel where you play as a bartender working in a cyberpunk megacity. The game is heavily insoired by old school sci-fi anime and PC-98 visual novels (which it's upcoming sequel seems to lean more heavily on). It shares the same gameplay as Coffee Talk wherein you serve drinks and chat with unique and charming patrons, often giving them advice on how to solve or cope with their own problems.
Sims 4 - Controversial pick, but the game is really fun and comforting, especially if you pirate all the dlcs rather than pay for them.

Highly recommend Spiritfarer to anyone who hasn’t gotten to it yet. Management style sim about death + you have a cat that follows you everywhere. Don’t let the platform style throw you off, it’s very very light (not a fan of platformers myself). It’s very wholesome and you have plenty of quests and tasks to keep you progressing.
Another more odd pick is Cult of the Lamb - management meets rogue-like combat. If you are interested in some spookyness added to your cozy, and are okay with trying out a bit of combat (I set it to easy mode and have a lot of fun button smashing), you might end up loving it! It’s silly, cute, a little spooky, and for me it was so addicting! Not for everyone but definitely a great game for its own little niche in cozy category.

I know its a really stupid game concept but placid plastic duck simulator is one of my favorite cozy games ever. Its just about looking at plastic ducks doing things at a pool but its really relaxing and fun. There are events in the maps and ducks that have special quirks like propeller hat duck flying or rock duck just sinking. So if you just want to pop a game and watch plastic ducks being silly i really recommend this game

One cozy game that really stood out to me this year was A Highland Song! It's a gorgeous game in which you're a girl who runs away from home to go to her uncle who lives in a lighthouse. It has you travelling through the Scottish Highlands and climbing mountains, as well as running through nature in a rhythm game.

I find crpgs quite cozy without them being really proper cozy game. Recently I have been playing pillars of eternity in my own pace. Walking around fantasy world some combat but with pause, lot of reading going trought gear, getting immersed in world. Is quite relaxing, I think we can find more cozy games outside the expected genre, or games made to be cozy.

Ever heard of Spirit of The North? It was free on epic two years ago or so, but I think it's worth the price - the game is about you controlling a fox who died and was revived by a spirit, and were then tasked with restoring the northern lights. It's got gorgeous terrain inspired by Iceland, a fantastic soundtrack, and the puzzles it gives you are actually quite head-scratching. The beginning is quite slow (especially chapter 2) but otherwise it's a fantastic game.

If you're a fan of Coffee Talk, VA-11 Hall-A is a MUST. Instead of a fantasy coffee shop, it's a cyberpunk bar. The characters are incredible, the music is amazing (and there's a jukebox to choose which track plays), and the drink-making mini game is very similar to the one in Coffee Talk. VA-11 Hall-A is one of my favorite games and I love returning to the story.

Not the usual 'cozy game' but Baba is You, it's now one of my favorites! It's a puzzle game, which I usually really don't like, but I love this one.
The art style and music got me first (hand-drawn and weird), but the gameplay is so clever, you have to find your way out by moving and swithcing words from the written rules. I do find it cozy even if it get a little stressful, it's very satisfying to play in general, and when you finally complete that level that took you days to solve.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen slime rancher here yet! I’d say it’s almost up there with the big two. Also for my recommendation: coral island. It just came out of early access and it’s a bit rough around the edges but you can really tell the devs love this game and it’s really well made so far. It’s essentially Stardew valley 3D with farming, mining, bug catching, and artifact hunting. The villagers are really diverse and fleshed out too. Everything I loved about Stardew and animal crossing mixed into one game.

Few other recommendations that weren't mentioned on this list:
Spiritfarer is an amazing cozy game. Can't recommend it enough.
You're essentially finding passengers/spirits on your boat, sailing between islands, and fulfilling tasks for them so they can pass on peacefully. Beautiful game, wide range of characters and a very touching story. Have a tissue box handy.
Any of the Atelier games are super cozy. My all time favorite personally. You just play as a cute anime girl trying her best to become the best alchemist. The crafting/alchemy part of this game is really unique. And there's always a colorful cast of characters.
Dragon Quest Builders 1 & 2 if you're into a somewhat more story focused Minecraft
Dave the Diver -- dive for food during the day and run a sushi restaurant in the evening
Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator -- run your own potions shop, from making the potions to haggling everyone to maximize profits
VA-11 Hall-A if you're a fan of Coffee Talk, it's more of a cyberpunk bartender vibe lol
DREDGE I really like and I consider it a cozy game lol -- uhh fishing for eldritch horrors lol? Can be kind of scary at times but thought I'd put it out there lol

I'm not sure if any of these would fit in, but personally, I find some factory and city-builder games to be on the more laid-back side of tension, such as not only Factorio (when set to peaceful mode), but also Satisfactory, Autonauts, Captain of Industry, Dyson Sphere Program, Cities: Skylines, and Common'hood to name a few examples.
In fact, I do kind of wish that there were more of those kinds of games with such chill Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley vibes to go along with them, like with Common'hood for example.

Idk if everyone would consider it a cozy game but I LOVED Chicory! If you're an artsy person who loves colour or colouring you'll probably really enjoy it. Apart from colouring and making art, the puzzles are really fun and unique, characters are delightful, the different collecting missions are great fun and you get unlock all these unique stamps and brushes that come with fun sound effects which remind me of playing with kid pix. Sunhaven seems really good, it's like Stardew.
I'd also recommend Gris, it's cozy because it's puzzle based on characteristics of terrain, and tells a story wordlessly, instead via visuals, gameplay, pace and stages, so well. I found it worth it for how dang beautiful the entire thing is alone, beautiful and melancholy vibe. You do get chased by a giant black bird but you don't really fight it, it just pushes you in a direction. That's from what I remember.

One game I love is Sky: Children of the Light.
...Would I say it's a good cozy game? Honestly, not really. Once you're done exploring it becomes a grindfest. Get your candles, maybe one day you can afford something kinda cool...
But I still think more people should try it. It's free. It's pretty. It's "MMO" (only 8 people a server, but in small enough areas you WILL run into others). The barrier for socialization can be a little rough, but you can still crudely communicate through emotes (of which there are MANY, the primary progression of the game is unlocking new wacky emotes for your character... very fun). Do I recommend it long term? Probably not, if overpriced FOMO content gives you anxiety. I've played just over 100 hours and I'm at the point I don't find the base gameplay that fun anymore, but it's simple and straightforward enough that I just throw on a video or podcast and get both my dailies and the media I want to consume done at the same time. An imperfect game with immaculate vibes

In all seriousness though Littlewood is so addicting and so underrated. The time being tied to stamina is genius cause I don’t have to feel guilty about going to bed with a ton of energy left like in Story of Seasons

cavern of dreams is a pretty neat game. 3d platformer where a young dragon looks for his siblings.

Id say pokemon! The mechanics are pretty easy, (idk about yall) but i don't usually end up dying ever, the scenery is so pretty! And you're just collecting a bunch of pet friends! Idk, i think it works!

Highly recommend Potioncraft. You play as an apothecary and collect herbs and make potions for customers. The gameplay is interesting but not super challenging and you can go at your own pace.

I uninstalled Palia because of the storage. Not cozy if I can't store everything I want and always have to play storage manager. I want to go play the game not decide which things are important enough to keep.

I really, REALLY wanna know if Fashion Dreamer is totally worth it. It looks like such a fun cosy game, like something as braindead as "dress this person up a certain way" is what I need for my busy life right now. Can anyone confirm if Fashion Dreamer is worth getting or not? Please and thank you!! ^-^b

I personally didn’t play it, but I just watched a video that it’s not worth the price. It’s literally just dressing up the character and making clothes. Theres no storyline or anything else to it. They said on sale it’s worth it, but not for full price.

@lisaann2556 as mentioned, I'm not looking for a whole lot of story or anything, just some simple gameplay. So this might be perfect for me! ^-^ I've been playing Suika Game after work everyday and that doesn't have a super deep story, but it helps me relax after a busy day.

I really like sunhaven, definitely a star dew knock off, but I really enjoyed it like I enjoyed star dew. Lots of fun characters, multiple towns to progress. Combat that’s not hard but not always easy. It’s definitely on the furry side, but it’s a good game in my opinion.
