      @@mr_m4613which is unfortunate because I’m willing to bet that because of this, Nintendo will not improve the next game and use the same New Horizons formula.

    my take on ACNH villagers is that they’re just decorations. because they lack personality, the only thing going for them is their appearances. there’s a reason NMTs were so popular early on; people just really wanted to get pretty decorations.
    also this is your first video?? this is some insane quality stuff, bravo 👍

    This is a first great video from you! I've been playing the Animal Crossing franchise since 2002 and ACNH is the most imperfect and incomplete of them all. New Leaf is peak Animal Crossing in my opinion and it feels like Nintendo didn't listen to the fans at all and left out the majority of the content we'd been saying we loved about New Leaf for 7 years. Animal Crossing was always a sleeper hit with a niche crowd and it feels like it's returned to that state (which is more than fine by me).
    Yes, I have many gripes about ACNH. I had K.K. Slider on my island in week 3. With no other content at all, I was incredibly bored as ACNH was very much an unpolished, unfinished, and vastly-lacking game at launch. You could swim immediately in New Leaf and we had to wait until July, 3-4 months later before we could even do that. Nintendo over-hyped the drip-feed updates and people burnt out on them within a week, putting down the game until the next over-hyped update.
    Nintendo was waaaaay too controlling in ACNH, basically telling us how we *should* be playing the game the way they thought it should be played, meanwhile those of us Animal Crossing veterans played it the same way we always had. Animal Crossing is a cozy game you play how want and at the pace you want. I have always BINGED Animal Crosisng, not just log in for 5 minutes to do dailies.
    I miss the post office. I miss Pete, Pelly, and Phyllis (Yes, I loved that Phyllis was mean).
    I miss Re-Tail. They did Reece and Cyrus a great disservice relegating them to Harv's island, in what felt like an after-thought.
    I miss a lot of the older NPCs that wouldn't make it past New Leaf.
    I'd hoped Shamppodle would return. And Kicks' shoe store.
    I, my brothers, and my friends all expected the fruits from the New Leaf island tours to return and we were all disappointed when they didn't.
    Villagers' personalities are so white-washed and watered down that it's only the dialogue that each personality says that even differentiates them. They're just too nice! I miss mean villagers. I miss Mr. Resetti!
    I'm grateful that Leif and Kicks are still in the game.
    I'm grateful that we got villagers from the original Japanese game in the 2.0 update (Shino rocks!!) and incorporating Happy Home Paradise as an add-on was fun. I have the stand-alone game for 3DS and love it.
    There are things I like about ACNH, but those are often outweighed by the glaring disappointments of what Nintendo omitted. The pandemic could have made it so we never even received a new Animal Crossing game. That game got me through those tough times and I still play it. I even bought an OLED because my OG Switch doesn't run as well anymore, so now I can have two islands and have both islands interact.

    Even without duplicates of personality types, the dialogue is super limited. I don't see how in the first animal crossing game villagers had a vast amount of things to talk about and now you can talk to a villager 3 times in a row and the dialogue repeats at least once. I remember in New Leaf talking to my villagers so much they would get mad at me. It's so superficial now and it ruins everything. You feel alone. All villagers love you instantly no matter how many times you whack them with a bug net. At least with the rude villagers in the first few entries the game felt more realistic. New Horizons is a great game if you aren't expecting the standard animal crossing experience. It's too different than the other games to fairly compare them to each other.

      @ephemerald5  28 дней назад

      This is exactly how I feel about New Horizons. It seems that even the dialogue isn’t just limited to personality types and rather just EVERY villager will say similar stuff and it gets super old. The interactions in past games like Wild World or New Leaf just feel so much more genuine in comparison to New Horizons. The villagers feel more realistic and less like robots or some type of decoration for your island

    Not to be mean, but if they didn't let you move your villager's houses and do what you want with them, people would be complaining about that WAY more

    Also, this is a great little video! I’m surprised it hasn’t gained more attention. I will say ur audio does sound a bit quiet, but that doesn’t detract from the good points you had made. It’s so nice to see an ACNH video essay that’s recent! Most of em were made before 2.0 haha
    Edit: THIS IS UR FIRST EVER VIDEO? I just got to the end lol, wow! I wouldn’t have of guessed

    I made a new island and it hurt a lot yeah, but I do have a bit more fun now again with the game. I think that hurts me, it's just I spent more time playing the other titles overall (I did play soo much wild world, with a friend though and that's the keypart). I do miss the villager having character though.

    I think another thing that sucks about the villagers is that they were basically replaced by Nook Miles. It was mentioned in a video (if I can find it I’ll credit it here, it was great) that before NH we did tasks to simply be neighborly, but now we are being incentivized by currency. It’s no huge revelation, but I think it shows a lot about where the developers heads were at during the creation of this game.
    I recently picked up New Leaf after a few years and all the villager requests felt so refreshing! It’s always bothered me that NH does have these features, it just takes forever to experience them unless you drown your villagers in expensive gifts everyday.
    I’m excited to see the changes they make to the next game, and sorry for the long comment!
    I love New Horizons, and playing in the fan made “hard mode” has helped reignite that flame

      @ephemerald5  28 дней назад

      No cause I 100% agree. The Nook Miles system is basically villager quests but much less lively than in past games. Whereas in New Leaf the quests would give you more interactions with the villagers. It was a great way to create more of a bond with them. Now they were replaced with a “phone” screen 😭 I love the long comments by the way, seeing how much people care about this topic like I do is so much fun. I’m also a person who just recently bought New Leaf for my 3DS and it’s a serious palette cleanser on the villager front

    Personally, I gave up on New Horizons quite a while ago coz it felt very hollow. I didn’t have any friends to play online with so I was stuck to my own island and I realised very quickly that the villagers didn’t have a lot going on. I was really into building and designing my island for about 6 months over the course of a year or two but then I gave up on it. I ended up picking up New Leaf again one random day and realised that I vastly preferred it. Sure, I miss being able to place furniture outside but that’s about it really. Half the time, I forget it was ever an option. I’ve just gotten the T.I.Y upgrade and I’m one fossil away from finishing that section of the museum. There’s just more to do everyday that keeps me coming back. I know people who still love New Horizons and I’m glad for them but, for me, there’s no reason for me to go back to it.

    It's dead because we moved past the covid days also this is quite normal for the animal crossing community oh and I forgot there is hype for the 3ds animal crossing games like new leaf since the dialog for the characters is better than new horizon among other things.

    I only started playing in 2022. Then didn't play a entire year and now recently started playing again, learning to play ACNH because i forgotten how some of the things work. I also lost one of my villagers. It was a bunny with empty eye sockets who left. Now waiting until a interesting villagers shows up.
    I'm also doing the time travel method to get some things so i guess some things might not work properly because i would get errors or the message that the islands i want to visit from dodo codes don't work.
    Even those treasure islands from Pange plays won't work because i either getting the "This island is full" message or a error that there was a radio signial disturbance error when Orville tries to connect.
    Anyone having experience with Pange plays where this user offers different free treasure islands but their dodo codes never work for me. The islands are either full suddenly once i put in the dodo code or i'll get the radio signal disturbance error.
