My father passed away last month and he had been working on restoring his 1967 912, fully stripped and painted Aga blue, engines&trans fully built and still going through every part restoring what he could. I’m 19 and I worked with him taking apart a sprite he’d had most of his life but now I’ll be taking over the 912 restoration. This brought me to tears.
these 912s are my dream cars. not the 911s, not ferraris, or lamborghinis, not even a bugatti. these represent lots of thought in engineering, along with keeping more luxury vehicles at least in the sight of the middle class. truly beautiful cars, perfect lines.
Your homage to your father is so heartwarming. He is so proud of you. Good happy relationships via father son is something I understand and have. Vehicles can help that happen. Obtw, fantastic Porsche, great color choice.
My buddy has a 1976 Porsche 912 in SoCal in Baby Smurf Blue. It has a VW Engine. I didn't realize that the 1960s and other 912s had an air cooled Porsche engine. Very nice 912 restoration. $$$$$$$
My Guards Red '68 912 Targa with Fuchs wheels was one of the finest cars I've ever owned. It looked great, ran like a top and didn't require anything but routine maintenance and the TLC any Porsche deserves. I eventually sold it to move up to a newer '73 Viper Green 911E Targa, which was also a fantastic car. I drove the 911E for years as my daily driver and I never tired of it, or the looks and "thumbs up" it always got out on the road. I regularly look at the pictures on my office walls of both cars sitting side by side, and dearly wish I had them back again. Each had its own character, its pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses (very few!) but, at the end of the day, they were both Porsches with that undeniable Porsche pedigree that sets them apart from any other car in the world. There truly is no substitute!
As grown up men we are all sons of fathers and there is that special connection. I remember when I bought my first Porsche 20 years ago how proud my father was back then. Life treated me well and I was able to buy additional Porsches since then. Unfortunately, I am not able to share the joy and excitement of a new Porsche with my father anymore since he passed away, which I miss tremendously. However, your story runs so much deeper and expresses wonderfully the love for your father as well for the Porsche. Thanks so much for sharing this with the world!
Wish I had produced a video like this when I had my 912. It was a 69 tangerine. Last year 0f the 912. Most evolved of the engine and the chassis. Won my local PCA region auto cross with it. 310 point car at Monterey. And still beat most of the 911s in the autocross... Will forever miss that car...
Just finished watching an old movie, Downhill Racer, with Robert Redford. A very similar looking 911 is in the movie. Mustard with steel wheels and small hub caps. Love the look.
What a beautiful story. I have 3 boys, now grown men, and we shared a passion for cars. It makes me wonder how my boys will remember me. You honor your father’s memory by embarking on this wonderful project. As you said, full of positive memories. Porsche’s are truly special.
My ‘68 912 was the favorite. My father, who had a Karmann Ghia, never understood Porsches until he had to drive my 1960 Drauz Super Roadster from Lexington, KY to Dahlonega, GA. He loved driving it. It was kind of a thrill to see him cruising onto the college campus.
Sure miss my '69... absolute magic happened when both the tachometer and speedometer needles were perfectly vertical at 4000 RPM in 5th gear. Exactly 75 MPH. At that moment, everything clicked and you you could feel that all was good with the cam and transaxle and happiest to run all day like that. I also missed how well it stayed tuned compared to the 911's of that time. Maybe someday I'll find another....ivory white. Thanks for the video.
On the Porsche channel, wow. It's good to see that not everyone at Porsche these days is focused on minivans and money. There appear to be some still focused on tradition, humility, and propriety.
it’s all about the passion… beautiful to have a car with a soul… driving in loving memory of your fahrer … i have an 1965 elfenbein 912 😃again beautiful story, told with true passion, congratz
I have the same 912 Bahama Yellow but 1968 I feel the same love - same passion - same emotion than you. Congrats for your movie - it’s makes me shiver ❤️ 912
What a super video. Better even than the old Petrolicious films. I prefer the car in red but restoring to its original colour was the right thing to do.
This is a statement from me as to why kids and adults love Porsche. I had a poster of the 928 in my garage , which was a dream to strive for, I got one and now I am looking for my 5th Porsche.
I absolutely loved this video. My father loved cars, sadly he passed away before we could work on anything together. Now I have my own son, who is really into Porsches, and my dream is to work on a project car together with him.
Love your video. My dad and I loved cars and restored a couple through the years. My father past away 31 years ago. This video brought back some really cool memories. Thank you for showing your amazing Porsche and telling the story about you and your father. God Bless!
One of the greatest Porsche love stories I have even seen. It resonates so much how I feel about the Porsche passion. Thanks for sharing your story and I hope you continue to enjoy your 912 for a very long time.
agreed. my dad recently passed away and he had a 53 year love affair with his 1967 912 Porsche. he ordered it from the Stuttgart factory and picked it up back on June 16, 1967. the car turns 54 next week! all original still... refurbished engine in 2019. oh how he loved his grey "old fox' and what adventures he had with it (the car has over 200K miles). I'd love to put a video together about his story. one day!
Ausgezeichnet. This story rings home to me about my German father and I (an Aussie boy ) and projects we did together. Thank you for your storey brought a tear to my eye remembering my dad
I'm an electric car engineer fixing up my 912 - just got back from a test run. My dad and I worked on his Lincoln Continental as I was growing up, but same concept... and carburetors!
Very cool! You are actually driving this in the back roads near my house. I have a 991.2 Turbo and grew up in the 70’s loving the 911’s. Congratulations on a perfect Restauration. I’m sorry to hear your father passed. I love the love you both had for cars and for each other. Enjoy the Munich and Oberbayern area! Peace out!
What a nice story , the connection and relation with your father , a true honer . And finally the gorgeous original colour restauration . Also fantastic to see the passion from this man , a designer himself for this car , Fantastic !
Much respect, brother! You have a fan in Slidell, LA. Thank you for keeping this beautiful part of Porsche history alive and well! This is a lovely tribute to your father's legacy and your life.
Such a great story and a car that evokes so may memories for me. My father had a 1967 Bahama Yellow 912 from some time around 1967 to 1970. We lived in the San Francisco Bay Area so I cant help wonder if this could be his car! I remember when he traded is for a 1970 Audi 100 LS i was sad to see it go. I love this story because my dads love for so may things shaped who I became and even though he, and I, have had many wonderful cars over the years since, the 912 has always been the favorite in my memories.
Was für ein tolles video. In many thoughts I feel like your father: I want to drive a Porsche once in my life. Der 912 in „orange“ ist der Wahnsinn. Vielen Dank für diese herzliche Reportage. And it‘s so much bettet than watching Netflix. Grüße aus Straubing
Wow, I could totally relate to this story. Unfortunately, ours, now my 911 is still parked and waiting for restoration. Hopefully one day my 911 will have ending chapter like this story. Thanks for this video, very inspiring.

dont lie.
Thanks for sharing. My condolences to you and your family. I’m sure he’d want you to finish the project. 🙏🏼
As a fellow dad, I am sure he will be very pleased and will remain with you in spirit and in your heart.
@@안사요안사-h3p aww :c sorry you didn't lose your dad at 19 years of age. What a disgrace you are
there’s always these kinds of sentimental comments looking for likes in any restoration video.

What beautiful story, what a beautiful car.
Such a wonderful Story about people and Porsche 😀❤
Your homage to your father is so heartwarming. He is so proud of you. Good happy relationships via father son is something I understand and have. Vehicles can help that happen. Obtw, fantastic Porsche, great color choice.
Best looking 912,I’ve seen the dipping of the chassis. The Germans. Don’t mess around when they restore. Quite impressive. Great story!
Beautiful Story, Thank you
I miss you, Dad.
Love this car and color ❤

Traumhaft schön ..

Great and deep story.....Thank you for sharing .....I could understand all
The picture in the meadow when the car was complete looked very similar to original Porsche advertising. Absolutely beautifully made video.

A very Beautiful & Sad Story ! Your Father must have been very proud of you
This beautiful heartwarming film is what Porsche is all about. Legacy !
As Anders says at the end, well proportioned and engineered car😃

What happened to it?
that Bahama Yellow paint job is so much better than the red.
Thank you for preserving the history of such a motoring icon, a humble beginning of the Porsche 911 era! Your dad would have been proud.
Beautifully done

What a great story and Bahama Yellow is so much nicer that that red it was for a while.
Thanks to you recommended, aagain! Great video for car enthusiasts.

Beautiful! Your dad would have loved that car. You restored your Porsche to a Porsche. Well done.
Coming from someone looking and wanting a 912, this was a great story.
Nice to watch a video about the time a Porsche was a car, not marketing.
Such a moving bitter sweet story
So wonderful you share your father’s passion for cars and Porsche
He sits beside you 💛

A labor of love, and I think your father is smiling
I have a 65/66 912... your passion has reignited my need to compete this project started in 09.. Great history as well.. thank you
To me he was lucky to have you as a son, not only for having a porch. Great Job!
So cool.
Beautiful story, beautiful Porsche.
And yes, one Porsche is enough, mine is a Black Carrera 4. A Porsche is unique, no need to have many.
That color is amazing

Really cool restoration and the color is amazing! I love the bahama yellow and mint green from back then.
What a moving story. It's more than a car. It's a history for many families. Can't think of any other brand would fit in a position like this.
LOVE💛
😍 Ein wunderschönes Auto!
Nice to see the respect for the practical 912. Handles like a dream. Great every day driver car. I miss the one I had.
a beautiful father and son story ... and an art piece yellow Porsche car ... kudos
This is going to sound crazy, but this is the exact same reason that I LOVE the 924, so cool, not trying too hard
