I was also extremely disappointed with the stale refresh with the gladiator. Taking away the diesel and giving us no new engine option was a joke. I bought a 23 Jt and was afraid I’d be trading it back in on a 24. Not the case. Glad I got a deep discounted 23. Great video.

I purchased a 2021 in late 2020. White willys. Sold it in 2022. Just purchased a 2024 willys. The new interior is better. Feels like they moved the front seats back a bit? I noticed my dog doesn't have the same amount of room to jump in the back floor. I also feel theres more room between the bottom of the steering wheel and my legs.I could be high though. Anyway I like all the interior updates. Same engine sure. But it's reliable. And I purchased the truck to beat it up. 2021 Willys 39k (in 2020), 2024 Willys 39! I'm satisfied. But your points are valid.

You hit it right on the nose. Where's the 35s? Where's the full float? Where's the V8? Where's the diesel option? Where's the retractable soft top? Where's the 4x4e version? Where's the Warn winch? Who the heck did they poll for what to add? The only thing that impressed me was the Addax Overland camper!

    • @terrymcguire6478

I'm glad i bought the 22 eco rubi, which was discounted by $10k, as there is nothing in the 2024 that was worth waiting for. Is that a cloth wrap over the front of the dash? That's a dirt magnet by far if it is. I really don't feel like they listened to any customer feedback on what to improve. I love my truck but i feel some things should have been standard on the Rubi. I do not have the front camera or the plug in the bed. For some reason the plug was deleted at the port. But considering it's a $68K truck, it should be fairly well optioned. Granted i have the cold weather package, tow package, aux group, color matched fenders, color matched hard top,... but it really irks the front camera is not standard. It's a friggin rock crawler! Should have an under body camera as well like you can get in the Bronco and I think the new Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison as well, which is as much as a well optioned Rubi. Having a 4xe option should have been on the table as well. That would have covered my work commute and I could have saved big on fuel. Dont know it they would have offered that on a diesel though. They should improve the electric range as well. 20 miles is pretty pathetic. The wrangler 4xe really needs about a 40-60 range to cover the majority of commutes.
A 392 option would have invigorated sales. V8s hold mystical power over truck enthusiasts. Plus it has about 30 more foot pounds of torque than the diesel. 342 vs 370. Basically what you want when rock crawling or towing.
Ford eventually listened to its base and gave them the Raptor Bronco and the Raptor R F150. Time for FCA to hire a Jeep CEO that has a set of cajones. Morrison is not that guy.

Era of the V8 is over. Only reason jeep offers it in the Wrangler is so rich RUclipsrs can flex on us poors. They'll never offer a V8 in a vehicle that will actually sell because they have fuel economy standards to meet. Hurricane twin turbo will be the best bet but Jeep has pledged to offer a 4xe in every model in its lineup by 2025 so look for that next year. As much torque as the V8, more efficient. IMHO, it was a huge disappointment. I found more than a little annoying how much Jim pushed, and pushed, just how great the 4xe is, then brought in the Gladiator with zero updates to powertrain, other than only the 3.6l.
So essentially, no float, no updated powertrains, and not one word that included gladiator and any new powertrains. Honestly, I'm getting the sense that this "refresh", is a last ditch effort to generate new interest. i think they're just waiting to axe it from the lineup.
I've been planning to upgrade from my JLUR to the Gladiator, but this reveal just instilled a lack of confidence in the future of it.
I also noticed how when they were going to read some questions from the chat, and suddenly didn't read any. Even saw their faces flush a bit. That's because of the huge backlash on this reveal. I was super disappointed and let down by their lack of effort to bring something more meaningful to the table.

The interior upgrades are cool, and the AEV options and 35in tires are cool when morrison said it would be an option when introducing the new Mojave, but they didn't state if it would be geared from the factory at 4.56 gears. Honestly, middle tennessee dealers where I'm at are selling Mojaves and Rubicons at nearly 20% off MSRP, so it makes it real difficult to justify the price increase for the things they are offering. They missed the mark here. At this point it looks like it was done on purpose to cancel out the model and introduce the Ram Dakota as a replacement for Stellantis.

I wonder if the Willys version will also have standard 33s, rear locker and 4.10 axle ratio like the Wrangler? If so, that's nice. Overland ready after a leveling kit and wider stance. I'd throw a LSD in the front for good measure. I'm paying off my Wrangler this year so I'd love to get a Willys in a couple years to round out the driveway.

The 5.7l hemi should have been an option from the begainning, and at most a 4000 dollar option. The hemi is not a complex and hard engine to make. The 392 hemi in the wrangler is a rip off on the price side of thing. They finally gave the buyers what they always wanted from the factory and then made it wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over priced. I love my Gladiator but more power is and always will be a must 🙃.

I agree. 2024 gladiator is a disappointment. But I was sticking with a 2023 anyway. 10% msrp plus employees pricing...yes please! The 23 grille is way better anyway!

As a current owner of a 23 Gladiator, it was kinda disappointing to see the 24. As much as they were talking about electric vehicles I was certain the gladiator was going to get the 4xe treatment. It almost seems that they are going to phase out the gladiator soon. I hope something awesome will come to the gladiator soon otherwise I fear that the competition vehicles will over shadow it.

I would have preferred a thigh extender on the seats like BMW has over the powered seats. Those are awesome for extended drives. Also, a V-6 designed for a screw supercharger over the turbos would have been better with a factory option to order a dual gas tank from factory.

  • @scottsever7656

I totally agree with this video, nothing was mentioned about 35s and 456 gearing for the gladiator. I know everyone has to watch their omissions but Ford had a V6 12 years ago that had like 305 hp The gladiator has needed a V-8 from day one. It doesn’t have to be 470 hp at a $30,000 option. But some form of V-8 or more power out of that V6 without using a turbo. I’m going to order a 24 gladiator obviously with the V6. So I need some pointers on adding 25 to 35 hp to it.

I prefer the old 8.4 personally to the point of getting one harder and harder on my Ram 2500. So, with 30% off a loaded Freedom edition in a color I like MSRP 60,800 for 42K, I'm going 2023.

For the record, adding a rear locker to the Willys is great if it was priced better. I priced a fully loaded Willys online and it’s 60k. For a point of reference, a fully loaded Rubicon Diesel in 2021 could be had for $53. So to me, it’s simply the price at this point. A fully loaded 2.0 or 4xe is 73k. At 60k for the Willys you might as well just spend the extra money on the rubicon

Reading through the comments, I’m glad the hear a lot of the same things I’ve been saying. This really seems like they’ve done the bare minimum to refresh this truck. At a minimum, with how they spent the first ten minutes talking up the 4xe, then to not introduce the 4xe Gladiator was a HUGE disappointment. A hurricane or a Hemi would’ve been spectacular too. It seems to me that they’re, unfortunately, just getting ready to kill this truck. I was all set to buy a ‘24 too, now I’ll just keep my ‘08 JKU for another year. Maybe they’ll do a ‘24 1/2 refresh with a 4xe or Hurricane…?

I agree with you 100% Matt. But part of me wonders if they leaned into the towing and hauling capabilities more to further differentiate the Gladiator as an off-road hauler, not a crawler.
For the 20-23 model years, the notion that it was basically a “Wrangler with a bed” is basically true. And so long as the Gladiator looks and feels that way, it’s always going to be in the Wrangler’s shadow.
I’m not saying this was a good idea, but I could see the reasoning if we’re talking long term growth and not just a few good years of sales from throwing hemis in there.

I would like to see the 2.0 in a ho version in the gladiator. It runs circles around a 3.6. I had a 2020 rubicon wrangler with a 3.6. Just got a 24 willys with xr package and the 2.0 and my good it has so much more power. And this willys is on a 35 and it feels like a rocket ship compared to my 3.6 rubi on 35s. If they had a 2.0 in the gladiator I would have bought one.

The upgrades are all copy and paste from the Wrangler, which makes sense since the vehicles are nearly identical from the B pillar forward. Without the full float axle, Xtreme recon pkg, and the 392, it seems like thy may be letting the JT run its course to eventually be dropped. Maybe we’ll see a Hurricane option, which would help tremendously.

Need your help please. Just found your videos as I was researching a JEEP for a future purchase. When I research them I am finding so many people having issues with a few things. For example, what about the dry start up issue because of the oil filter being empty when you first start the engine? Is the $400.00 accessory needed to be purchased and installed that has the special valve ? Also since you are in there, what about the plastic oil cooler that people are havening cracked due to heat? Then some talk of electrical issues and some say they have a generator and others say no they have an alternator? Too, the Corning Gorilla glass people are cracking them too. The rear final driver sensor people say they need to replace it? So I really thought I would like a new Jeep and do not want to buy one every year as some people do because they are afraid to put too many mikes on them and worry if the engine can even last 100,000 miles or so? Or am I being swayed by some people that have just had bad luck? Hope you understand my concern and offer some good advice. I am into motorcycles too and so far this JEEP is reminding me of some of the KTM models that there are so many issues you need to know and correct before you go any where with one. Thank You Sir!!

I'm out of Jeep alltogether as soon as my lease is up in February. Chrysler has taken advantage of the Jeep "cult" following for years and i'm starting to finally see the light especially with the new options around the mid-size pickup range. Once the top coming off, the doors coming off loses it's "charm" (for me after about a year) then there really is nothing else other than it is a terrific 4x4 in terms of capability. The ride quality sucks, the fox shocks suck, the Pentastar is a gas hog dog of a motor (now you have 4cyl Turbos blowing it out of the water in terms of horsepower/torque ratings). On the looks, interior front, adding a new grille style doesn't do anything for the looks IMO and the technology is still low rate. We needed a turbo 4, a diesel option and of course why wouldn't you bring the 392 option, crazy, makes more sense in a Gladiator and should've been offered there. Bring the same technology from the RAM into the Jeep. Sorry Jeep, you lost my business until you start showing some loyalty to your followers and giving the Jeep line a complete overhaul and a needed price cut to stay competative.

I suspect they're just liquidating a lot of their unsold inventory to save/offset costs and profits, until they move to a fully bev fleet. Additionally, I could see them adding a LE model that's packed with a hemi near the end of '25, as a final "fare-well" before their bev goal -- if it survives that long.
