As a young Angolan, it was very interesting to listen to, thanks for your service in Savannah, it made a lot of difference to help reduce the grip of communism in our country
Thanks very much Freddie and Koos! Spent some time in Angola and your account has me jotting down notes again as you jog our memories. Running and jumping off a moving Bedford with full kit was not one of the most fun things to do, Koos! 😅 If you didn’t lift your rifle high above your head you would get hit in the face with it!
Very enjoyable - speaks nice and clearly. Liked 'guns' versus 'rifles'. Liked Tsipise stories. Spent several visits there. Also Angola Ops and Savannah. Thanks, fellas!
Very good stories Freddie and Koos. I grew up on a farm 15km west of Tshipise had wonderfull times at Tshipise grew old on the farm and know live in Musina. Take care Koos keep up with the good stories. God Bless
Good one Ferdie, once again story from the heart and actual facts from someone that was right there in the thick of it on the ground just a pitty you could not have given that T34 tank a direct hit from your five five gun. Dig out a few more of your stories, most enjoyable they are.
Thanks Ferdie. Recollection of your experiences brought back some cool memories. Did basics in 4th field potch where I met my wife. Nicely told brother. Peace out .. Derek
I sat next to Magnus Malan at a Mess Dinner in Pta. Miserable s.o.b. He evidently had no affinity for the navy. That aside it was brilliant. It brought back many memories of my (pre-navy) national service (2 SAI Walvis Bay)
Would of been a big croc scoffing this Gunner. Great stories. 5.5 inch gun a old work horse. They must of busted there arse getting that gun out of the river with brute force and block and tackle .
