Promotional Videos for Salmon and Trout Fishing Huge level of interest in Salmon Fishing Videos A film I made about a fishing trip to the Newtyle Beat on the Mid Tay in 2013 will hit 10,000 You Tube views in the next week or two. There is a lot of interest in fishing related videos and they are a great promotional tool - nothing like seeing a few sea-liced springers being caught to grab a bit of attention. If you run a Salmon fishing beat or a Trout fishery and you are interested in talking about a promotional video, give me a call. And you can check out the Newtyle film via the following link:- ruclips.net/video/-ozOGidHeO4/видео.html
The Perfect Length for a You Tube Video How long should a You Tube video last? The simple answer is that 2 minutes is a brilliant length for a film but then so is 3 minutes, 8 minutes, 15 minutes etc. It’s all about the content, the motivation, the message(s), the audience(s). In the end the ideal length comes down to a combination of many different factors. For example many organisations use You Tube to host lectures. If a lecture lasts 30 minutes the ideal length for the film might have to be 31 minutes by the time that titles, intros. and credits have been included. An alternative might be to split the lecture into 2 - 3 bite-size chunks to make life easier for the recipients. Another example might be a promotional film for a wedding venue. Well that would be much shorter - possibly a couple of minutes as a full on promo. film. But think about it for a little while. If your daughter is going to spend £10,000 of your money on the wedding of the year is she going to stop watching after 2 minutes - I don’t think so. She might stop watching if she does not like what she is seeing, but provided she does like it, a film would be able to hold her attention for much longer than a couple of minutes. But obviously there is a good argument for front-loading the film with the most powerful messages in the first couple of minutes. Then if she does stop watching she has seen the best bits. Taking a different angle, what about “captive” audiences? Some films tell a story or document an event or a project or maybe a way of life. Films that focus on a subject which generates a lot of passion will in turn generate a lot of interest and commitment. Interested people will be happy to spend lengthy periods watching a film if it touches them, features them, connects them to something they feel part of or affects them. So for this item I will finish with a very specific question. How long should a film about 6 Salmon Anglers fishing on the Newtyle Beat of the River Tay near Dunkeld in Perthshire in May, 2013 last? Well the perfect length for that sort of film is 7 minutes and 45 seconds. And surprisingly in this example the film was not front loaded - the best bits i.e. the biggest fish caught come right at the end of the film. So anyone watching has to stick with it till the end to get the most out of it. Check it out via the following link:- ruclips.net/video/-ozOGidHeO4/видео.html
Promotional Video Production for Salmon and Trout Fisheries The Salmon season has been under way for a couple of months in some parts of the UK and the Trout year is with us too. So if you own or manage a fishery it might be time to start thinking about the best way to promote your business. Promotional video has a huge amount to offer in terms of describing the physical nature of your fishery but there is much more it can do. You may have heard the phrase in sales that people buy from people who they know, like and trust and video is a great way of presenting you, your people and your fishery in a really great light - nice people, loads of knowledge, working hard to make that fishing experience enjoyable and productive. If you are thinking about producing a promotional video for your Salmon or Trout fishery and you need advice from a professional film maker with 45 years of Salmon fishing experience, give me a call. And today I am showcasing a project I made about the Newtyle Beat of the Mid Tay in May, 2013 - Enjoy! You shouldn't keep a fish out of the water for any longer than 30 seconds, otherwise most will die within days of being released.
