I used to be the window light only guy! Nothing wrong with it, but shooting RUclips videos with window light fluctuating in and out can be SO frustrating! Using a proper video light gives you that tasty consistency and will pump that production value 10 fold! Hope you guys enjoy! COFFEE TIME!
Lighting can change the overall quality of your film/video. It is very important to manage how ever each setup differs from situation to situation. I love reflectling lights from a white sheet & usually block off direct light. Makes a world of a difference. Its a great video Pete, Thanks !
I’m liking this because it went OVER two minutes haha. Dude peter - huge inspiration to me. Just bought my first DSLR (canon 77d) and uploaded my first vlog. You’re the man my bro.
Hi Peter, because of a comment I left on one of your previous videos my channel literally jumpstarted and blew up. I want to thank you for changing my life in such a great way. I'm really grateful to be a part of this community :) Actually lifechanging to me.

dear Peter, do you have any recommendation for me for lighting for videos, designed for educational purpose for patients? I am doing some videos for patients in the field of infertility and OB/GYN. regards.
I know how you feel man has been one of those guys that has really stepped up my game when it comes to content creating I remember when I first started off I wasn't really that great especially the fact that all I was doing was making many blogs about coffee which honestly I was trying to be something I wasn't but then I started learning my voice a little bit which now my content is totally different from where I first started off and I have Pete to thank for that
Welcome back Two Minute-ish Tuesdays!!! Just what I needed. I have been looking to change my in the house setup and I was out for my morning run and thought two things 1) Why is it so cold?" and 2) "How's Pete lighting his new setup?" Thanks for the help with #2!
Been reading a lot about lighting in photography, but love to see more about video too! I never realized how important lighting is until I started shooting video
I'm not a regular here, but find myself at times binging through Peter's videos. I do love that RUclips's platform has made it so accessible to learn from such awesome people, even though I don't take advantage of that as often as I should. This is the one channel I value over any others when I'm looking for a review of a certain piece of equipment or learning new techniques for shooting or post. Keep killing it Peter. Hope to someday run into you through the industry and keep learning from you.
Of all the photographers I follow on RUclips, you're the most consistent with cinematic visuals. The one key light looks so much better than over lit studio set ups. 👍
A good friend of mine, the lightman of Inez van Lamsweerde - once the world's number one fashion photographer, preferred to use one (big) lightsource, as he told me.
Great video Pete! You should do a review on the YONGNUO YN360 Handheld super awesome light and portable. Just picked up a couple the other day and they are amazing!
Nice to see the minimalist set up. Do you, Peter or anyone looking at this, have any recommendations for lighting that doesn't necessarily break the bank? For the most part, I'm a window light kind of guy I'd love to not be limited by the time of day. Thanks for anyone's thoughts!
I got a Neewer Bi-color kit with 2 lights and light stands dimmable lights, 3200-5600K ac power and battery powered(batteries not included) i used it to light some of an interview and just highlight the talent. I googled it and apparently they have a kit with barndoors mine didnt come with barndoors the kit I saw ran for 99.99 I think mine cost like 65 or 80 or so when i got mine that doesn't have barndoors.

So good! I just started and used your older video about lighting to get started...not sure I got it perfect but it saved me a ton of money while I'm starting out!
Would love to see a more in depth video on how to use lights! this one was great! kind of when an episode of a series you are watching ends and you are like NOOOO I WANT MORE!!
Love two minute Tuesday. Peter your videos have inspired me to create my own and finally make a RUclips channel!! I’m halfway through editing my first video now!! So thank you!!
You should do a video on how working in photography/video made you a better photographer/cinematographer. All the crazy last minute stuff that happens or goes wrong where you have to improvise to save the shoot, or sometimes when you just can't
I think what makes a youtuber famous is their own little "things". For Peter, coffee, onewheel, and that awesome "PFFWHATSS UP EVERYBODY"?? Oh and those DOPE CAMERA effects that we haven't been told how to do yet :D
I got two Yongnuo YN360 light wands and a couple pieces of white foam board to soften and reflect light. It's a start they've been great, lol. Make the best with what you have. GREAT VIDEO.
agree there, Rembrandt do look very good on his particular face. Also he didn't talk about it but that blue back light is also reflecting on his side face, it's very subtle and hard to notice (that's why it's so good) but gives a very nice 3D/sci-fi look to the overall video. I don't know if he did it by purpose but great job Pete!

Dude u are sooo creative. Thank you for mentoring me for the past year and a half.
You know it's getting colder in Toronto when Peter busts out the OG leather jacket!
I thought he was just trying to look dramatic xD
I've been obsessed with leather jackets since I first saw Grease as a kid.
Long live leather jackets! 🤘

Why buy that when you can buy a jacket that no one has to die for? It's weird to wear animal skin...

Probably the most challenging part of any studio style work.
dear Peter,
do you have any recommendation for me for lighting for videos, designed for educational purpose for patients? I am doing some videos for patients in the field of infertility and OB/GYN.
regards.
With just one lighting is aesthetically pleasing and not over done over the top like other youtbers do. I like to see shadows casted over your face.
Thanks Pete! These 2 Minute Tuesday's really help. I've been needing to dial in my lighting. You're the man!
same for me! Agreed

Work lights aren't as high quality but they work
Thanks for the info! Just trying to gather as much info as I can before I pull the trigger on anything
ah are you taking like flood lights like you would see in a construction site? Thought about those too

I'm always w8ing for yr weekly vids man..... Fav channel on utube for me
How did you do that effect when you “dimmed” the light ? Not literally the light but that diagram thing with the numbers from 3:18 - 3:25
He bought it. Plenty of sites that sell those for after effects
@@jimiernola8540 made it, actually.
As soon as I am back from college I am curious to watch a pm video!!!!
As always love your videos
Yep lighting is everything bro , good job thx
indeed
Thumbnail game strong! Another great video Peter!
If you need a smaller source because of a small room, don't stress! The closer the light, also the softer it will be!
The desk background is better! 😝 WHEN IS THE PODCAST COMING OUT?!
what light stand/ C Stand does Pete use for his videos? thanks for any help in advance!
Leo Georgi peter uses an apature 120d.
Not sure about the C - stand
the dim light animation scene + sound fx it's hilarious :V . like it
Omg haha I was literally searching your videos last night for a video like this!!!
I hope Peter sees my comment that make my day!!

You must've forgot to put them in the description
So good! I just started and used your older video about lighting to get started...not sure I got it perfect but it saved me a ton of money while I'm starting out!
I was just watching the audio ducking video! Remember the frozen truck? Awesome tutorial..
Peter - you're definitely going to have to share how you did the Light power special effect with the spinning dial/changing text - PLEASE!

Peter you should use a hair light. It doesn't take long to setup and it makes a HUGE difference!
