WOW. It is just FASCINATING to watch a live day of work on various games at an on-location arcade! Good research for a game I'm hoping to make in the future, too. Thanks for the video and keep 'em coming!
Those little tables between the games are so important. When I go to a bar/arcade here in Phoenix, I won't play a game unless there is a little table next to it for me to put my drink on. If you're at a bar, you have a drink. Super important. :)
i started the hobby a year ago and i have learned so much with John, y have fixed 6 dead arcades and monitors myself (got electrocuted twice ) thanks John!
Man, you guys need to set up a corner in that place, let it be darker than the rest of the establishment, and put your hardcore arcade games there. Bring back the nostalgia bro.
Hi John. I had the same problems With the coin mechs and I found that the adjustment for the width and thickness of the coin mech settings were difficult to fine adjust, but once its dialed in, you just tighten everything up and you should be good to go. it will take time but you will get it down to a fine art :)
Cool to see the life of an arcade operator, don't see those guys around too much now a days. I find a lot of arcades in the wild just get played until they are barely playable anymore especially pinball machines.
Hi John, I enjoyed this video, just like all your videos. I own an Arcade location in Southern California and is located inside of an indoor trampoline arena. I have over 30 games and I service every one of them. Coins mech's can be a pain sometimes, lately I have been replacing the coins mech's with new ones to maximize profits. I have also been adding dollar bill acceptors to my games to increase profits as well. Great episode once again John, keep it up!
Definitely John, will increase your profits by 40%. You have to think, not that many people carry change and rather use dollar bills to play. If you move forward with bill acceptors that will be a great choice for your barcade 👍
Awesome vid. A lot of work going on. Careful with that deoxit....it wont dry and imo it will attract dust and grime!! Silicon dry spray maybe? Good luck!!!
Maybe useful for you guys, when my dad was an operator they had -at large locations lke yours- in 1 or 2 cabs a lot of parts and tools in boxes stapled to the inside of the cabs. microswitches, fuses, lamps, tie wraps, screwdrivers, soldering iron and pliers etc.
The only thing I don't like about deoxit is it's expensive. Great job, John! I'm happy for you that the bar venture is working out so well. Good love from your wife for the awesome Christmas presents. Thanks and see you next time.
Need to get some graphite for those coin mechs. I used to use it on my vending machines. Itsthe same stuff you put in door locks when your keys get tuff to get in and out. Get it from any hardware store
the de-oxidant is the best i had a pin ball that was reseting every once in a while and i thought i was going to have to re do the five volt circuit but all it was is the edge connectors needed to be cleaned !!
Nice! Jon, I was just saying after watching your last video that you needed a beat-em-up and some puzzle games (i.e. Puzzle Bobble) - a sports game (also in the neo geo). This is really going in the right direction. Pubs are weird places. You need those social games like the beat-em-ups but there are regulars who live at the pub and just need to get obsessed with and enjoy a single-player like Pac Man or a puzzle game. That's my view. Liking the way this is shaping up! What about the Golden Tee and the Big Buck Hunter I see in there? Staples already provided by another operator? You guys are making money I think. Buying up an over-priced turtles so quickly. Good for you.
34:32 Could try printing the repros on overhead projector film, then maybe get a very thin white paper on the back as a diffuser. edit: Huh, the repro looks way better on camera. Makes sense though, the original is letting through a lot more light and it's messing with the camera. That said, if they're all repros they'll all match.
Unless its a hobby to be out of the house :) I wonder if you will ever make money there. 3 guys at work for a full day plus spare parts? That should be a lot of quarters :) The bar owner will make money, because he will get more people coming in spending money on beer.
great video john i got every intentions of heading down to the hanger when i get paid next week i hear that turtles,mk2,umk3 and double dragon calling my name.i also got a kool idea for ya seeing how you got johns arcade t-shirts and mugs and ect ect have you every thought about doin a johns arcade fleece blanket thatd be totally kool let me know what you think
Have you considered in the future replacing the Marquee lights for John & Jays with LED's? I got LED Strips for my Mame Cab and it works great. Just a idea.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves for the fighter. Maybe it's not popular? I don't know, but it's awesome. I think Metal Slug 3 is the best of those (Metal Slug X is close), but I guess the original is good enough. But, now that I see Last Blade, it looks pretty good, too.
Re watching: 2 hours and I didn't even get bored. Can't say that for half the movies I've seen this year. If I was going to compare this 2 hour show to a movie say for entertainment value, I'd venture to say this video is almost up there with Star Wars Rogue one. Later!!!
You should have just kept the light fixture in there, replaced the ballast and sockets.. Home Depot I believe sells those parts.. That light fixture is just as old as the game..
Might consider putting that one football game in the Neo Geo, maybe replace the fighting game as more people will probably play Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Just a thought. 😃👍
Viewer mail comment feedback - Marty asked about the best arcade golf game. While I cannot argue with your nostalgia for Golden Tee John - but the PGA Team Challenge All Access Pass is the best golf game of its era. Better graphics, the ability to play using real PGA golfers, the putting is better - overall it is just a better game. BUT - it isn't the game you played in the bars with your wife while you were just dating... so for that reason alone it is acceptable to pick Golden Tee as your favorite.
best _arcade_ golf game. --- On top of xbox not being an arcade game, there is not a golf game without a trackball that can be on the top of the best golf game list. (IMHO)
Livin the dream John, Games Id like to see what do you think? Tron, Pac Land, Paperboy, Point Blank, Chopperlift, Airwolf, jees could go on forever. I think those would be good earners. Whats the general age group in there? It looks pretty mixed from your vids.
For the Kid looking for the pacman machine there is a guy in Dublin that sells a lot of candy cabs and other stuff could be your best bet. have a look on donedeal.ie he usually has an advert on there
Hey, why is I, Robot down? Also, when are you going to dirty up that popcorn machine? /kidding I'm submitting your name to the Nobel people for your efforts towards brokering a peace between the Irish and the English arcade collectors. :D
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech I'll need to rewatch those restores. I just remember you struggling with that ridiculous Atari proprietary supply, but I don't remember if you fixed it or replaced. Anyway, this was a great video. 👍🏼

I love seeing "real world" fixes. It shows progress! Keep up the good work and feel free to "bring us to work" every time!
i started the hobby a year ago and i have learned so much with John, y have fixed 6 dead arcades and monitors myself (got electrocuted twice ) thanks John!
loved this video. I think I'm gonna really like the operator vids. A fresh take on the arcade scene that we rarely get to see.
I love outrun. Seeing this just shows how complicated arcade machine upkeep is.
Always a good time servicing games with Jay and Tim; be well man.
-Mitch
Such an awesome video to have playing in the background like a podcast while messing with some designing
Thanks for watching!
Outrun is the one arcade game my local pizza parlor had as a kid, loved it there and also on the PC, nice addition for sure!
+Michelle Madison ha. Funny. Awesome game for sure. :)
Awesome! I love these on location fix video's!
Thanks for sharing this video. I don't have any clue about arcade machines. I am learning through your videos. Thanks again :) happy retro gaming
+MagicFerret69 thanks for watching!
Thank you
I am so happy you made this video. I love it thanks
Thanks, Timothy!

That arcade is so badass! I want to visit it so bad.
Hi John.

Merry Christmas John and Happy New Year!
Thanks, Damian! HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!
woah 30k subscribers! Congrats Johnny!!

i always get jealous watching your videos, especially the Pacman cabaret one. You got most of my favorite games. I want that NeoGeo!
+Matthew Erdman thanks for watching Matthew!

Definitely John, will increase your profits by 40%. You have to think, not that many people carry change and rather use dollar bills to play. If you move forward with bill acceptors that will be a great choice for your barcade 👍

+The Kong I like that idea.
Woot new video. That bar needs an Ice Cold Beer. And a Sports bar needs a Track and Field as well.
I know, I'd love Ice Cold Beer but I'm not sure about putting mine on location.
The only thing I don't like about deoxit is it's expensive. Great job, John! I'm happy for you that the bar venture is working out so well. Good love from your wife for the awesome Christmas presents. Thanks and see you next time.
I love these types of vids thanks for making this!
+XBØYS thanks!

In the UK, we sadly don't have any decent arcades like this anymore :( not that I know of anyway.
just the Arcade Clubs in Northern England probably

+RWL2012 working on it now. Maybe tomorrow or Tuesday
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech can barely wait 😃
Happy new year
I saw Bust A Move still corrupted, when you put the machine in its place and you was crouching checking the insert coin.
+Micky999 we fixed it later. Deoxit
You should have just kept the light fixture in there, replaced the ballast and sockets.. Home Depot I believe sells those parts.. That light fixture is just as old as the game..
Great video! You guys don't have a Mr. Do in the line-up do you?
So I'm just "a guy in the forum" who had the 3d files for the gears huh!?! Timmy!!!!
Ever thought about getting a Daytona Usa? would do well in arcade.
Maybe it's nervous laughter?
Woohoo new video!!!
Might consider putting that one football game in the Neo Geo, maybe replace the fighting game as more people will probably play Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Just a thought. 😃👍
+TheManofDew not a bad thought. I have the Neo GEO football game cart.

I have those junk buttons on my Bottom of the Ninth base ball game. I agree they suck. stick all the time. swapped out with new ones.
Time to buy stock in Deoxit.
Is that ranch dressing on the floor or are you just happy to see me
I'm curious, how do you work the electric bill with the bar owner?
Usually the store owner covers it.
Carries mom died from stroke planing her daughters funeral
For the Kid looking for the pacman machine there is a guy in Dublin that sells a lot of candy cabs and other stuff could be your best bet. have a look on donedeal.ie
he usually has an advert on there
I think Mok did the plans for the gear ...............................he originally did it for his outrun.
Cause I’ve had a bad day!!!❤️❤️❤️
America is lucky on the arcade culture.
Spanish coin-mec from Industrias Lorenzo :)
Im kinda surprised RUclips didnt take this down for the clearly audible meghan Trainor music in the beginning
30:40 john the red joystick does not have a dust cover
That means get back out to the garage ...lol
Turtles. Great game. Hilariously bad marquee / side art. LOL. Live action April with her hand-held camera.
Congrats on 30K subs.
the Punch Out looks awesome...
Super cool game for sure!
52:55 Carrie Fisher died during the filming of this video. I missed it the 1st time around
Where did the red DK come from at the Hangar? It looks like you still have your DK in the basement. Does the Hangar DK have a high score kit?
The RED DK actually was originally mine. I traded Jay the cabinet for my Pole Position. And, well.. now it's at the Hangar. :)
Secret tip to remove rust, wad up a ball of aluminum foil and make it damp with water, then scrub.
Have you got Track & Field at the Hangar?
No. But I think it would do well if we brought one.
Cool
Are those the original Neo Geo marquee lights or some sort of new ones? Looking for a set for my 4-slot.

I love video games I'm a living nerd
not sure that youtube will like all the licensed music in the background...
fireproofneo I think if the volume is low enough it's considered background noise so it should be fine
Eh, if they have to they'll just mute that bit and do a voiceover, John's done it before when his mike was cutting out.
Hey, why is I, Robot down?
Also, when are you going to dirty up that popcorn machine? /kidding
I'm submitting your name to the Nobel people for your efforts towards brokering a peace between the Irish and the English arcade collectors. :D
+Rasdock lol. I robot had bad supply.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech I'll need to rewatch those restores. I just remember you struggling with that ridiculous Atari proprietary supply, but I don't remember if you fixed it or replaced.
Anyway, this was a great video. 👍🏼
