Thanks for coming by John, this was fun!
I'm rewatching every John's arcade video. I've never saw this one. So, it's really cool to see some stuff I've never seen. I hope John will come back very soon!
We used to go Pony trekking with the school to Llantony in the Black mountains in South Wales. And every night we walked down to the pub and there in the corner of the bar was a Space Invaders Cocktail and sat next to it was the landlord`s son who could clock the score. 10 pence would last him all night I used sit there watching him in total amazement. The pub was called the Half moon.
Thanks for the shout-out Tim! I am glad you like the art. I've always had a soft spot for cocktail tables. The Nintendo cocktails were always so bland and I thought they should look more like their upright big brothers. Oh and John...thanks for all the great videos and your awesome forum. Your contribution to the community is much appreciated!
theseeker77!!! Making it big time! :) Contact this guy right here if you want some of his sweet art upgrades!! MANY THANKS!
I really enjoy your videos. I've been watching for years. Thanks for all you've done for the classic arcade community. 😊
Tim's Tutankhamun series is pretty awesome so far. Tim in a John video is like double bonus.
You're too kind Duke!
Another fantastic on the road video, Tim is a great guy and it was awesome to see his arcade too. Thanks man!
Thanks man! That twitter pic was hilarious.
Great Video! Please do more videos like this in the future! Very FUN!!
John u are awesome and Tim is a correct Guy!!!! I like your Vids! You Guys are a great Team! Best Regards from Germany
Love Tm, he seems a really nice guy. I remember him fixing johns wheel on a video here last year, He seemed to go beyond dedication to get that thing sorted.
Thanks Andy!
Great video John !
Good to see a variety stuff going on in this one :)
I believe the Robotron NIB cabs that John was talking about were from John's Jukes in Vancouver. It seems like they sat there forever before people clued into what they had!
Adding LEDs would make that TMNT pin pop John!
Hey John!! Very cool video! Really like those CNC Robotron Mini Cabinets.
another interesting fact about track n field. the track ball only registered as one button press no matter which way you spun it. i.e. enter your name. spin right and the cursor moves right, spin left and the cursor still moves right. it doesn't affect game play at all. and you can get incredible speeds with it! my local arcade has one.
You guys make great co-hosts
Great vid! Love both channels!
Thanks Ed!!
Cloak and Dagger looks good down there man. I would hold onto that one. That was a cool scratch ticket, looks like one of those big expensive ones. You friends got a pretty decent collection.
Cool vid, that kong cocktail looks great modded, nice collection. Amherst has a great collection of games John, i may have to swing up there at some point.

John, are you still planning on doing a video about the ins and outs of operating? I’m really considering trying it in some bars here in Florida but not sure where to get started. Thanks man! Love your stuff!
Nice change of pace!!!!
Awesome.I love these hunger and brofest video, only thing i watch
hahah I remember people used to break the button guards on Track and Field machines back in the day
you're friend is a such a great helper
I’d kill for a basement like tims, cosy room filled with arcade games and consoles with an lcd and crt tv’s.
I'm in NY and not too long ago they had scratch offs for frogger that I picked up to display, guess I better check to see what else they come out with.
1:07:05 I've a similar, smaller, scar on my right wrist too, I got it in exactly the same way at my own home when very young. I've had so many other scars since then than I'd completely forgot about this one, I had to look for it. ^_^
Wood grain 3m Denok fantastic and expensive- the sample catalog is cool - there is another wood grain one but I can get more details when I remember lol
Yeah another On The Road video! Fun!
Tim was right, the Popeye and DK Jr cocktails have 18 in Sanyo monitors. But those Sanyo monitors have nothing in common with the Red Tent Sharp 18 in monitors.... only that they both work on 100VAC...... ;-(
I used window tint on the tube on my Asteroids. Being black and white it looks pretty good I think. I didn't get tinted plexi, because then the cardboard bezel wouldn't look right.
Rather than CNC you can use Lasercutting, many don't realise Laser does more than Metal
Popcorn maker vs Tim.. Cool vid chaps ;)
It didn't fall off!
Man! I love that intro music!!!!
Thanks!
That's interesting about the cocktails not doing well, I guess that's why they're cheap to buy. It must be missing the bar crowd that used to be interested in them. Can't say I like them much either, too tall for them mostly. Tim did alright in Cloak & Dagger, I liked hearing about how to play it effectively.
John goes nuts for pole position, I remember going to Funspot a month and a half ago and he was just staring at the machine in awe, for a good 5 minutes
Mac Donalds like always😂
A lot of fun projects over at Tims Place .....JOHN!!.... lol .. just messing with ya :-)
I have done a couple of the Konami cabs to replace a couple I got that were trashed. I built a large CNC just for this job.
There's two ways you can stop the grain showing through, one use a primer filler, if you're going to spray it anyway secondly use a wood grain filler that's what they would have used on your guitar or you could coat it with diluted by 10% PVA glue takes 24 hours to dry and kept flat horizontal or vacuum packed
you need to get yourself a Batman66
John sucks at scratching!
Every episode........................"HEY GIIIIYS"
Comment for Hangly Man:
Hangly man is usually a ROM Swap. Look at the board. Is it a pacman board? Hangly man was basically pacman and the maze was hacked because the original PAC had a static maze. Hangly Man the maze changes and even disappears. It's a cool 'mod' (more or less).
We had Track & Field in the UK with joysticks which made the game a lot easier to play
yes I used to play on one at my local fair when I was at school. I expect it was not an original cabinet and just a generic vendor style that are very common for uk games.
Im currently restoring a Japanese space inaviders clone and the game is called space vader , its pretty cool and looks similar to the one you have
Wow no wonder you don't post like you used to. Multiple arcades around town seriously impressive. Even more impressive you've been able to source so many other operator newer games to add variety to the classics. Brilliant!
That new pinball in your basement my neighbor had that exact one back in the early 80's we used to have high score contest parties very challenging play field. If you could play that one you were ready for just about anything out there. Weird that you have that Bronco cause I've only seen it one other time since the 80's. How do you feel about non-digital scoring?
Triple windshield wipers!
John I am ex sign maker - what you can do with vinyl is use an Avery film that is known as block out vinyl , it has a layer of grey on the glue side and it used for goon over wood grain
I, too, was an ex-sign guy. I've never heard of that though. I'll have to look it up! Tons of stuff out there now that we just didn't use then.
Yeah, we were Avery guys mostly and used HP Latex. Look up Avery MPI™ 2800 Series and the MPI 2803 with the Grey Adhesive, that should be a better choice, so basically it is backed in grey to help with hiding wood grain etc. I know Cast vinyl's have it but stay clear as mounting that is harder and require extra heat treatment, a nice Polymetric vinyl is ideal.
An idea we used to use when materials was not available, was to laminate our own Grey/Chrome/Silver behind white or even two layers of white using a roll laminator, then put that in the Vinyl Cutter to finish the shape off.
Do you put matt/gloss laminate on the finish currently?
I hear the mighty SPY HUNTER :)
What kind of camera do you use for your videos?
Hey John,
Are the Robotron mini plans Tim tidied up available online? Any idea what the largest CRT monitor that could fit in one of those?
It's made for a 13" CRT. Maybe Tim can share the cleaned up plans. Ask him?
Nice channel
If you guys still have that kung-fu master, I would like to have one
The movie was great
LOL great video, and that there are RUclips channels of people scratching off lottery tickets.
Tighe....there could be money to be made here! Perfect for people who have an addiction...maybe??
That Tim Guy totally! LOL
DECK and PORCH PAINT!!!!I wish I could work for you guys. Our skills would compliment each other perfect. ANYone in SOUTH FL need a Arcade Paint and body guy. ????
I'm up for trying things! Sprayed fine really. Unfortunately, I can't get custom mixed oil based paint here due to laws & regulations so it's going to take some experimenting to find nice durable paint!
I would do some investigating what they used for production black back in the day for backs and stencil art like defender but auto paint can be buffed and fixed Matched and blended. But always ORIGINAL. It must look just like it was.
If you find anything, share it. I'm always curious about paint and what people use both now and then. It's a fun process!
Dude you need to check out this guy last gamer. Has over 200 of the best arcades in his home
Wish there was a way to network a California Speed (Like Cruising USA) Over a VPN or a game management (room) style system. Across the internet. Does anybody know if this is possible?
What is going on with all those Matchbox boxes in Tim's garage????
Good eye....want some? PM me.. They are all NOS from 1969-1970. You can see some of the boxes sitting on top of my Sega Turbo in the video.
interesting fact about track & Field. people would slam on the buttons like really fast and hard. I had witness first hard of players bashing the buttons like maniacs during running events I was a kid. the button guards may have been put in place to prevent button slamming. track & Field was the only game I know of would get more abuse on the control panel any other game.
32:00 - he should get a NeoSD flashcart for his Mvs
Good call! I forgot about that.
That Tim Guy I have all the .neo files you need, a complete set. Let me know if you need help.
John please come back 😢
miss rescue 911 show. wish could still watch it. o idea what cooler you are thinking of but i never seen them have anything like that on it. also if anything that makes me think of trucks i guess. it don't look out of place to me really. surprised you didn't take the drink off pole position 2. i wouldn't want something like that up there.
Hi again John. I hate to be pushy, but you had mentioned you may send that G07 to someone to fix. I am insanely curious what the problem ultimately turns out to be.
+wolvenar I still have it. Stay tuned
I second this. Those mysteries are somehow very interesting.
I have a car with the same name as one of your cars.
Mine is newer, yours is a bit older.
Get the drink off the pole position!
Hi John your videos are ausume
John, it's time you buy a oscilloscope!
My God! I Was Never This Early! I'm Going To Start Watching This Before Some Other Guy Steals The First Comment Spot!
I Know, I Found That Out Afterwards, Crap!
But I Was Quite Early Though
Why did you start on the road?
Did something different. :)
HEELO
:-)
Where's wirlwind?
Cloak and Dagger looks extremely whack
Hey John. Please try and let peeps finish what they are saying without interjection. I know it's hard not to be enthused when talking to like minded peeps, but it kinda breaks up the flow of the convo a bit ya know?
Peeps may be about to make a point and you stop them to ask them a question about what they were just about to say, if you get me? When you're not recording it's fine to banter like that, but for the sake of video, not so great.
Yeah I probably sound like whining a-hole, I get it. I just think it's a little more polite to let peeps say what they need to, you may miss something pertinent, or they may not get the chance to say it, possibly forgetting the point they wanna make cause now they have a new barrage of questions to answer.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble, I'm really not trying to pull you down or anything. Great episode, I'm surprised at what games are and aren't doing well at The Hangar, the Simpsons is in a real ugly spot isn't it? Great game too. Do you think the cocktails did bad cause they were in the window, tons of reflections going off at all times?
Awesome. A Tutankham build. Totally following Tim. Heading over there right now to sub up. Thanks John!
Thanks Shawn!
