John: "Alright Jay, We've got the Strapon" - Sept 21 2020
"How do you feel about this...." LMAO!!!!
Please don’t stop making videos on here John we really missed you man, love arcade stuffs
he is the only guy on youtube worth 5 dollars a month.
Now this is what I'm talkin about!
Bundles of wires and chips, getting in the thick of the repairs, blood, sweat, and tears, constant troubleshooting, and so much reward in the end.
Arcade repair at its finest!
Tim and Jay are freakin’ awesome! Lots of good info here, thanks John! SO glad you are making videos again. 😁👍
HA! You're too kind! Give this guy a bonus!
That Tim Guy you definitely deserve a bonus my friend!
Love seeing you back in this channel. Been following for years watching you restore these games.
John. DUDE. I'm telling ya, OFFLOAD ALL OF THE +5 in that Paperboy to a modern switcher. Replace the power input headers on both boards with square pins, replace the connectors, and use trifurcon pins. That ARIII struggles to properly power that bottom board even when it's working. Also, your fan is in the wrong place. It's supposed to be mounted on the back of the cab blowing upwards onto the ARIII's heatsink when the door is closed. But, if you offload the +5 you won't even need the fan. :) You do need to fix the connections on that transformer assy and make sure your ARIII is at least passing +10.3 to "power OK" on the cpu board.
You've got my number dude, call me if you need to!
Love that the vids are back John! Also glad to see I Robot working again👍🏻
Lmfao @18:32 John making sure if it’s recording 😂 I like how he looked at the Camera 👌🏻😝
Damn good video John, great content, great editing, and very good explanations! The fans appreciate your hard work
Glad to see the I robot and the nba fastbreak back in the row, good vid man
Always watching your videos while fixing stuff und I just fixed my last action hero this minute! So i guess thank you, John 🤘
YAYAYAAAAAA JOHN!! IM SOOOOO GLAD YOUR BACK!
...About that Red Alert game:
Upon firing it up in MAME after the mention, I learned it's based on the early Irem game WWIII (...you unfortunately read right, that's the roman numeral for 3).
It does have the advantage of the HC-55516 sound chip, enabling the voice of a military higher-up narrating your mission with each new stage; that's an advanced thing for 1981.
John your doing such incredible work with these videos. Keep it up. Bravo.
Hey John! 2 weeks ago, I went to a retro arcade that used to be an old bank vault in New Jersey. They had so many games and the inside was really cool! Can you please check it out on your next on the road video? Keep up the good work!
Nice to see new videos BTW... Keep it up dude!
Can't wait for a year-end review and a tour of the basement again.
Welcome back John. Take your time with these videos. We're patient. No more burnout!
"I have my Super Breakout I wanna bring back down here" - wow, I didn't realise you hadn't got rid of it!
LOL @5:37 "pop out the back, 'Hey guys!""
Soooooo Great having you back!!!!!!
Just as you fix one, another goes down! Its like spinning plates. Then the dam camera - nightmare. Just another week in the arcade I guess. So glad you're back John. 👍
Love the new content! Thanks for keepin' on keepin' on!
Dude! Love the fast break back where it belongs!
Your pong monitor is flickering into vertical collapse... 48:57
3:30 "So long, old friend."
Hope your Frogger had a good run in the arcade and enjoys his new home.
Cool to see this vid as the otherside to that day, when I saw the TnF etc in Jays van that niht i didnt realize it was yours, then they filled me in. Looking forward to checking out this vid. Oh wait this is the strap on vid we watched at dinner hahahaha Right on. So it was the Power Brick, yea i rebuilt my PP2 Brick and replaced all the quick connects on the fuse block and on that 20A fuse I went with solder instead to deal with the extra heat. Great to see your Paperboy coming along, really got a lot done.
Take care man,
-Mitch
John's arcade....moulded with John's grill /kitchen.... pure gold ! 💖
Awesome a feed and a show, nice one John
Hey John, 3:28 !! That song sounds really, really good! 👍
John, you DID NOT use warm white bulbs in the Radical GI. You used SUNLIGHT. After watching, I used the sunlight bulbs in my Roller Coaster Tycoon and I love it. Warm white bulbs SUCK. You loved the sunlight in your other games. Don't stoop to the old crappy looking orange glow of the warm whites.
I see that Major Havoc is working again!
It took COVID for john to come back. We're happy to see u sir. 💯
Poor Tigers used to be a glorious Tron. Buddy has one sitting in his garage, he wont let it go.
Hey John, just went to your parents garage sale and your sister directed me to your channel. Keep up the cool videos!
WWF pcb is missing a resonator and will be the reason speech isn't working, it might be 640khz but double check with someone that has the board (schematics don't exist).
If you want to talk about ramps and arcade games on vans, you should have seen the work we had to do to get a Time Crisis 2 off a van a few weeks back. Ended up having to take the CRTs out to make it light enough to take it down the ramp. 😅
Loved the video. When you poured your beer and drank it it reminded me of how joe senagalia drinks his beer.
That’s a nice tan for being “in the arcade” 🤣
Nice brisket Jahn. Cental Texas style :)
That ipa looks amazing!🍺
looks very intresting love the games in the video
Always start troubleshooting from the wall (outlet), and work your way through sequentially.
That Computer Space Ball is probably simple as a tube.. I'm assuming that monitor has vacuum tubes in the circuitry... One of the tubes that would be in the vertical circuit.. You should keep spares on you..
That was like a video game work out.
X2 is a crystal. Not a cap. It's probably part of the clock signal for the audio.
Nice place good machies!
Really nice video. Maan, that poor camera :( ugh, here we go again.
For the number of games you have down there, I would recommend installing a loading dock ramp or elevator system.
Took me a hot minute to realize “M-C Master” was McMaster-Carr😂
You should get battery backup/alarm on the sump pump.
If you dont wannn see john and jay on the road picking old arcade stuff just giiiiit! Git right outta here! Lol I would definitely watch that show! Great vid john keep em comin!
Loading up arcade machines on a Harbor Freight ramp, no thank you lol. Thought it was going to snap in half.
You don't need to replace a fuse holder if you are going to replace a fuse holder use surface mount fuses on a stripper circuit board and solder your connectors not crimped.
But really they just need cleaning with some green emery paper wire wool or fibreglass eraser or a green scouring pad and bending the terminalsin to make sure they were tight fit to the fuse and solder the connectors. Replace the hot resistor for 3 4 watt resistor only looks like a 1 watt resistor at the most not enough
So sad we won't hear Track&Field sounds in your basement!
Luckily I purchased an Hyper Olympic board for my game room :-)
Can you show us more of the crazy climber? Thanks
It’s cool to see NBA Fastbreak, and I, Robot back in the basement.
I wonder if John’s spends more time fixing the games or playing them? 🤔
X2 on that WWF might be a crystal. Speech sometimes requires -5 so make sure thats there.
So weird I just picked up a red alert that was converted to silk worm, It took a while to figure out i didn't recognize the cabinet profile
I saw an Arcade1up!! Build that thing man
this car looks like a Sprinter from Mercedes. there is a Solution to keep things in place with Metal Bars, which you put in position from the bottom to the Top. a friend of mine use this for carpenter business.
Barn Town is good stuff. Great food as well.
GDI: Game Domain International if you are curious
Another video to enjoy!
Have enjoyed your videos to help learn old boards. I cannot find a schematic for a merit chicken draw poker game anywhere. The screen displays random graphics from the game filling the screen.
Trying to find a schematic for crt100 ??
Any ideas?
what kind of camera are you using John
Hopefully you have a backup sump pump as well. A must for the basement arcade! I have the SumpJet which I highly recommend. Also, who won the 1/4 scale Pac-Man?
Have your buddy get an inverter generator and get some of those games mobile/ remote
whoa letting the T&F go John? crazy.
That offer to be a cameraman is still open jahn ;)
Computer Space Ball monitor freaking out at 49:00
Hey John, we hope to see you soon.
This isn't meant to sound rude but wouldn't sweeping the debris off of those steps make it a bit safer moving the cabs up and down? Kept thinking someone was going to slip on it
That MK II monitor was such a BITCH to fix and now it's dead again!
1989 I have been loooooking for freeeeedom ;)
better call Wynn to do the Laundry 😅😅😅
Let's get some popcorn going next time. ✨🌞🦖😎
Well that looks like a safety cap it's across terminals what the X2 means maybe 0.1uF won't do any harm
are you ever gonna put your new kill screens songs up?! i need more lol ive been listening to science fiction movie for years
I think he mentioned during the Podcast that they are getting closer to be done with the next album
@@Dngrzne91 yeah i finished the vid and he mentions its coming out winter so hopefully...ive been wait for like 6 years lol its seriously one of my favorite albums, up there with the postal service
@McLovin what does that even mean lol i think you might be lost little guy, wheres your parents?
43:50 is that a Dreamcast in the back?
Did you not rejuvenate the Golden Tee monitor?
Check all the chips that have to do with sound or replace your power source, lol.
Question: When you sell your games to friends do they get a good deal or do you charge them what the game is worth?
If you are getting low voltage off the brick it's the transformer. A power surge can short them. I'm half way through the video so curious to see.
LOL, resistance at the fuse connection.
Is that X2 capacitor a safety capacitor?
Vocoder sweet
Is this part in the members section? LOL 11:09
Does John even have Street Fighters II? That's a must to collect. It's a classic.
He does have a cabinet...but I think it’s still at the Hanger Pub and Grill.
A connector inside camera maybe off now
I remember a song from a video a few years ago with a women singing. it wasn't a finished song at the time. I know it was very transient sounding( i think thats the word?) i just know it was an awesome song. what was it and is it available?
Sad to see Track and Field go..😰😰😰
Hey john, I think you should pull out the computer space , I really can’t see anyone playing that thing, although it is cool and is one of the first games out when you have limited room you need to have stuff your gonna play and people are gonna play. Don’t get rid of it just pull it out of the basement and put it in the garage, or that pong clone that monitor looks like it’s gonna crap out any day now anyways.
I saw it ons Tim's channel. My wife would kill me if I'd sold the Frogger, and probably burn all the other machines
I LOL'd because my wife said something similar if I got rid of the Frogger I just picked up from John! The ladies have good taste!
Surprised you’re moving out T&F. Very Hot right now
WOW Frogger gone ! Track & Field gone !
Does computer space ball really get more play then the above ?
Or space ball? Two tigers I understand getting rid of but the other two are great games.
@@hyperpuppy2 Yeah, I was shocked at "Frogger" and "Track & Field", he also got rid of an "Out-Run" a while back. The man's got NO taste.
Rule 1 check your fuses, wires and connectors. How many times have we all skipped this easy check.
John..what camera model did you have? Have you been eyeing a new better one? Maybe a live stream where people can donate. With this much love and followers of your channel I can see a new camera and some neat extras funded in a matter of 5 minutes not to mention a few good tripods. If that's not in the cards everyone who can click that join and get some subs to show some love.
What happened to Journey?
Does your camera have wifi that you can preview the image using an app on your phone? Go ahead and buy a new camera and write it off as a business expense on your Schedule C. You need a second camera as a backup anyway. Are you amazed or impressed as to how much you were missed while you were away?
Hell ya!!!!!!!!!
