+Skeletor Jopko it has the same effect as pulling out the power cable. Sometimes your PC can freeze and you need to pull the power.

Just finished building a PS4 replacement for a friend in this case. cable management is a pain, but it was well worth it. If you get the mesh front, you can even paint it and it'll look awesome.

I know its a 3 year old post I am posting for future reference. The mesh is already small enough to choke airflow you can see in a gamers nexus video. When you paint it it reduces the airflow even further. Increasing system heat
I think the lack of fan filters is to incentivize you to buy the plethora of various sized fan filters silverstone sells. They even sell a nice big vent sized one that is suspiciously sized to fit over this exact GPU intake area or at least pretty darn close.
Or maybe use Front filter as intake. Case is obviously made for GPU to be used in blower style.
Used this case for my SO's rig and I can't recommend it enough. Aside from the lack of filters (which I don't mind since I love taking computers apart), the case is great! The HDD I installed does vibrate (minor but noticeable) so you might want to consider adding something like rubber rings to reduce vibrations or to just use SSD based storage instead.

its march of 2020 and i just built 2 PC"S using this case all AMD Ryzen 3900x with a 5700xt and the second 1 is for my daughter with a Ryzen 2600x and a vega 56 and damn these little cases are awesome. i also picked up a pelican storage case and made a travel case for these little guys for Dreamhack in november.

+Valkyrie I've been using Harry's razors for about a year now, it has a pretty close shave and feels better than DSC's razors. I'd say go with Harry's as their blades are German made and not Chinese.. 5 blades that last longer than a few shaves, I stretched them out for a month per blade.
+Bill Boger My boyfriend has said that DSC's razors are much easier to clean out though. And even though they're not perfect with Harry's they are pretty close. Also I know he LOVES the trimmer on the back of DSC's executive. And the shave butter for DSC was a bit better than that of Harry's. (I can agree to that since I use it for my legs)
How does something so small seem like it has so much room?
If you install a 140mm Radiator can you still use a 3,5" drive?
Just have the PSU intake pointing down towards the cpu cooler and use a low profile air cooler firing upward into it, making the PSU double as an exhaust. Yes the air will be warmer but it's not going to fry your PSU, plus it means you wont pull dust in through the top vent. The front should be used as the main intake because it has a dust filter.
I love my Silverstone Sugo SG08-lite, best mini itx case so far, AIO support 120/140mm, full size atx psu and sfx, full size gfx card , NO PLASTIC here!! The case is made out of steel and brushed aluminum.. The front face plate is a 10mm thick chunk of aluminum. and all this in a case smaller than a shoe box .. It's an elegant case ..
If you have a SFX PSU and a SG13; protip, you can put a 92mm nochtua as an exhaust on the side panel (opposite to the GPU) fits there naturally (can use mounting tape if worried). Also a MSI GTX1080 Gaming X fits if you grind the front GPU opening to be a slot, case is still solid because of the HDD bracket and the modification is hidden by the front grill
I have this case, love the build and style but sometimes it overheats (my front fan is broken). Need to replace it otherwise, I took the top case off to combat high temperatures. It dropped over 15 degrees!
Recommend making an annotation on the reset button, it exists but is the little intruded hole next to the power button (should have caught that in the build process). Also if you're using a 120mm AiO cooler on the front for the cpu (which i highly highly recommend doing) its best to use the psu flipped around to reduce the amount of positive pressure in the case, since this chassis can get very hot with positive pressure (also gives some air flow to the mobo's vrm and back of graphics card pcb, which can get hot even with a backplate in this case). Just realize that the size of the case requires a lot more thinking since you'll have to plan the air flow and do testing in 11.5L, especially if you're ballsy and stick an overclocked titan x and 4790k in this little guy. My favorite retail case design though, especially at the price. I do recommend using blower style coolers though, i originally used the acx cooler for my titan x and the positive pressure make the whole chassis equalize at 56C, including the power supply.
I stuffed a 5820k and a 980ti into this thing, and it's a little beast!

Good review. I'm guessing that silverstone wanted users to use the front fans as intake fans. Making it a positive pressure system, thus reducing the need to have dust filters everywhere.
I do realize that exhaust fan is better for temperature, and if you install a radiator, it will probably have to be an exhaust fan as well.
O M G bro! I feel like I need to give you the hardest slap in the world! You're killing me with these comments you're making about airflow and dust and intakes. Holy crap, dude.
First off, you were COMPLETELY wrong about that front paneling being the exhaust, because what you're actually doing is sucking in the air from the non-filtered regions of the case, then PREVENTING the dust from LEAVING the computer by exhausting it through the FILTER!!!
Secondly, you already have a primary exhaust system setup with that CPU Cooler underneath the PSU Cooler, which are both primary exhaust systems that are proven to work very efficiently, even in a barebones environment.
Third, if setup properly (and if kept off of the ground, which a small ass thing such as this should be no problem), your main intake should be from the Dust Filter, then your primary exhaust should be the CPU-PSU combo deal. There should be no other fans as intakes or exhausts, even if you can fit something as small as an 80mm or a 40mm, due to the probably that it'll throw off the airflow pressurization and cause an improper airflow in such a small casing. The extra holes, at this point, would primarily act as a depressurization when a lack of intake airflow is added - allowing people the option not to add intake fans, if the budget doesn't allow for it, or if the preference is simply there (as in, the alternative, optional front paneling would be used in this preference).
I hope that you see this comment and see what it is that I am talking about. Heck, give it a shot for yourself and see my point!

I made PC in other way as on movie. Front Fan is Intake, My PSU is Turner 180 degrees and PSU draws Hot air from CPU out of case...I had low profile Noctua CPU and temperatures at stress are 72 degrees of GPU(RX580 OC Nitro+) and max 60 degrees of i5 9400f. I think thats good conditions at tha small case.
if you cut a box on the top and drill a couple of holes, you can put a 240mm rad ontop of the case. what i did to get an h50 on my 4790k, and an h105 on my titan x to fit in this case. Just make sure you dont force the rad to breath into the case, gotta use negative pressure in that setup to prevent your vrm from reaching 100C

PSU should be installed opposite way so it can be used as exhaust. The way it is installed in the video CPU temperature will be much higher. I have the same case and it needs exhaust.
all mini itx cases 20L and under need temperature performance review too. sure it looks nice, but i need to know if its a hot box that have no airflow.

there are many "Dust Filters" you can buy for this case , magnetic dust filters in all sizes , just google search them :)

I've built three systems in this case. With its small form factor, hardware compatibility, price, and alright temperature under load, it is one great tiny case.
I wouldn't expect fan filter everywhere with this $50 case, many Lian Li cases don't have filters either. And you can always add some magnetic filters inside.
lian li though have at least a single problem wrong with each case. yes their cheaper itx rigs don't but they are made from all aluminium
they are also more than twice the cost of sg13. when the case is this tiny, aluminum doesn't have much advantage over steel chassis other than a slightly better aesthetics. SG13 is a great budget option for a tiny build with overall good compatibility, thats all

Node 304 is $90 on newegg, sg13 mesh ver is $40 on amazon. node 304 is a good case, it holds many more drives than sg13, but also it is almost twice in volume, it weighs twice. you get what you paid for.

I had to return my SG13. Quality control was awful. Front io wires had all come come loose in shipping. Got the Coolermaster elite 130 instead. Slightly bigger, but not a particularly bad thing.
I think they recommend flipping the psu so it can suck air from the CPU

SG05/06 redux. They missed a chance to really upgrade the chassis. Shame. If you set the front fan to intake and invert the PSU to exhaust you get great airflow. It doesn't really compete with the CPU fan as most SG05 owners can attest to.

I really love these tiny cases. But I'd like to see one a bit larger so I could fit both a cpu and a gpu aio cooler in the system. That to me would be the perfect mini case.

Looks pretty good in terms of compatilibity and air flow. Though the case looks very dull and unattractive imo.
Make it look better, maybe add some color options. Also dustfilters to every intake and we have a great closure which I would highly consider buying. As it is now not so much. :>
Just a thought: is it not possible to make your own dust filter for the ventilation bits? For example, get some mosquito netting and either straight up glue it over the vents or make your own bracket out of plastic, glue and magnets? Might be a bit too ghetto for most people but I doubt it will be that expensive or hard to do. What do people think of this?

Mini ITX is a pain. A 240mm rad or large air tower won't fit, so in my experience, overclocking reaches 70s-80s easily, so stock clocks, or the boost speed, at most is what you'll get. You don't want to pump heat into the case, so parts selection is critical. When using a high TDP card, a blower design is a must. And cable management is a pain. That being said, if you don't need the extreme performance of an overclocked CPU and non-reference GPU or SLI, ITX is amazing. I'll put my 4790k/980ti ITX build against a console any day.

The GPU shouldn't need a dust filter, unless you have an exhaust blower type cooler on it, since that's blowing out. It would just trap dust inside the case.... The PSU vent could do with one though, as its an inlet.

Side and top vents, couldn't one stick a bit of black nylon with tape over them. That would be cheap to do.
Oh come on people still fall for the cartridge razors? I'm using DE razor blades, its REALLY cheap and just as good. Also, shaving soap with a shaving brush lasts longer and has no irritating ingredients such as alcohol.

I have a 120mm liquid cooler, but I like the aesthetic of the brushed steel front panel more than the mesh version. How much would that impact airflow? Seeing how there would still be the air vents on the side of the front panel.

get a 970 instead, the 960 would bottleneck your CPU therefore making your CPU worth less

Please add a video for the Liquid cooling system. I bought this case to build AMD Ryzen 2400G PC, here in India (Kerala) SFX PSU are rare and overpriced on many online stores. AMD stock cooler height is around 50mm and maximum fan height is 61mm. So please add a video with Liquid cooling

I'm looking to downsize from a mid tower to an ITX box and am struggling to choose a case. I love the look of the SG13 but sadly size matters and my GPU is 11inches long so atm I think I'll go with the Node 202

Silverstone states max PSU lenght supported is 150mm, but there is clearly quite a lot of extra space there with a 140mm PSU. Why would that be? it seems itcould easily take a say 160mm PSU, and still install an AIO in the front, or are looks deceiving?

hey Dmitri! I just built in this case and I used an i3 6100. however, it's reaching temps of 85C while gaming. I am using the Noctua low profile cooler. any tips?
Sounds strange with the Noctua cooler. I would suggest to re-set the CPU Cooler to make sure there are no user mounting errors.

Would using a SFX power supply give the Heatsink/fan more clearance?
The max heatsink size is increased to 82mm with an SFX power supply.

I don't get why you would gripe about the lack of dust filters for your GPU and PSU, but then proceed to install a fan in your only spot that has a dust filter as exhaust, giving you negative case pressure.
Still haven't gotten around to moving my system from the CM 130 Elite to the SG13 yet (probably at xmas knowing me!), got magnetic filter covers for the CM 130 that i can just move across so no worries there. :)
Why do you switch? Im considering this and Cm 130.any advise?

The CM 130 is perfectly fine for the job, mine is an intel i5 4690 air cooled with Noctua 120mm intake and Noctua NH-L9i cpu cooler with XFX psu along with a MSI 750ti gpu: dont bother with the additional 80mm side fan that comes with it (a pointless addition really).
If i did it again i would use a modular psu to avoid the tangle of unused cables.

+Khoi D. Tran I have an Elite 130 aswell and it is a pretty good case. A few problems with vibrations from my stock i5 cooler, making the case louder then it could be, but you can handle it somehow by modify a few spots. All in all im pretty pleased with it, having a R9 280, 3 SSDs and a Harddrive in it.
Khoi D. Tran I used an Asus H97I-PLUS, there are probably newer and more up to date boards and cpus as that was 18 months ago.
Make sure your motherboard is compatible with your cpu whatever your choice is. :)
The specs for this case claim the max height for a CPU cooler is 61mm. Since the PSU goes directly above the CPU I am wondering if that is based on using an ATX PSU. If that is true, then using an SFX PSU should gain you an additional 22.5mm of space for the cooler. Does anyone know if that is true?

Read the product description. Yes it supports a full sized ATX PSU, but you are limited to 58mm CPU cooler clearance.

What was the new cpu cooler clearance when you used the SFX-L PSU? it can't be the full 24.5 mm difference. with the adapter bracket what did that put the distance at?
But I can't fit my mechanical RAID array in it. :/ I've been considering this for my DD rig and setting up my full ATX as a server ever since the build Linus and Luke put in theirs. This just makes me want it more, decisions decisions.
