    Just collected my Impact Mk2 in .177 today (2nd October).
    They’ve changed the shroud from the extendable one to a two stage one (similar to the airfective one).
    Looks good, but still put an airfective carbon one on though.
    What a beast of an Airgun :-)

      The Mk2 Impact is a nice beast and the new shroud they use is better than the older one.

    I have the old FX impact. It is my hunting rifle and I can never imagine getting anything else for my hunting.
    The rails are amazing I have a red torch and the nite site range finder plus the copy atlas pod
    Using the MTC scope set up properly 50 yard rabbits are not a problem with my longest shot being 67 followed with a 64 (perfect conditions so these shots may not happen again). I have the wildcat, Hw100 and HW97 but the Imact just blows me away love the thing. I use Baracuda Hunter pellets. I know I can buy the new barrel but why if you can hit your target. Nice video again. James

      James, love mine and in the process of upgrading it with a Huma reg, .22 smooth twist x barrel to go along side the .177 smooth twist barrel and ATN 4k.

    Great review I can see you are rapidly becoming an fx fan boy . To be fair to FX most of the problems with the early rifles were actually due to the mods by ASI to keep them 12ftlb and not the fault of FX but yep alas it tarnished the reputation of the gun at the start.I have to agree that it like the crown is a bit of a waste in sub 12 as its true abilities really start to shine once you fully unleash the beast (up to 60ftlb in 22 with slugs )

      hehehehe, a few months ago I was called a DayState fanboy :) I wanted the 2 best rifles, IMHO, so I got a RedWolf and an Impact :) Thanks for the kind comments :)

    Get it in .22 zero scope 30 yards jab heavy and it will shoot out to 60 no issues zero any other sub 12 ft lbs Rifle you have to go 3 clicks up on scope to get to 60 yards unbeatable in its class that’s not the latest the new one is 28 shot and very easy to load and that’s in .22

    • @airgunology

    • @perrannormanshire8783
      @perrannormanshire8783 5 лет назад

      Everything you just wrote is bollocks mate.. The rifle has nothing to do with the trajectory of the pellet. Its about the power. You cant zero this at 30 yards and need no adjustment to hit targets at 60! That defies the laws of physics. Any rifle that is sub 12 ft lbs (or FAC for that matter) will need adjusting as the range increases. A spring rifle shooting at 11.8 ft lbs and a PCP shooting at 11.8 ft lbs will have the same amount of drop at all ranges.

    The high dollar gun with the highest down time lowest reliably. If I ever get one it will be years after the gun is sorted. The issues still exist brother. Guys at the range are having problems with the old and the new. Reliability issues seem to be the biggest issue and spent more time in the shop than on the range. These are all FAC rifles and the guys are pissed. 1 guy in 7 is using his gun the rest...in the shop.

  • @jamesdenny4734

    Why do .22 get more shots per fill than the .177 ?

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  5 лет назад +4

      It kinda goes against logic, but in laymans terms, the .22 has a larger surface area for air to accelerate the pellet and therefore requires less air to get it up to a certain energy, therefore more shots per same bottle fill.

    • @davewellings6281
      @davewellings6281 4 года назад

      Put very simply, energy is the end goal, not velocity. In sub 12 ft Ib we have a fixed energy level (no higher and as close to the 12 as can be legally run). Energy compromises two parts in this case, Mass (weight) & velocity (speed). Now consider this, we are holding two stones in our hand, one weighs a mere two grammes, the other weighs a wopping 2 kilo grammes, both are held at 3 feet above your foot, drop one each foot at the same time, Which one will hurt more? That's quite correct, it will be the 2 kilo gramme stone! If you noticed, you would have discovered both stones had roughly the same velocity, but one had considerably more mass, hence more energy and more pain. For both stones to impart the same energy to your foot we would have to accelerate the lighter stone a lot more than the heavier one (use a catapult). And this is what happens with rifle shooting, to have both the .177 & .22 achieve the same muzzle energy (12 ft Ib) the lighter of the two pellets will have to be accelerated more than the heavier pellet and thus having a higher muzzle velocity and using more propellent (air) in achieving this.

    I know this will sound silly but no one ever mentions what I’m going to ask. When you change from a 1.77 to a .22 and you change pellet probe etc etc, do you needs .22 mag? Just that no one ever says. Many thanks

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, you need a barrel, pellet probe and magazine to fit your calibre

    Hi Steve. As I understand this gun isn´t the MK II ?!! A lovely gun , but , I (not a lot of money ) go for my Bobcat in .22 FAC . I did a shoot out last week and with a HUMA regulator in it, I did got 125 shots from 200 bar down to 110 bar . That is amazing ! Velocity dropped down 15 fps , it´s nothing! I did 60 shuts at low( 11 fpe) and 65 shuts at medium power (18 fpe) ! So ,what I think about the Impact..... yes , it is a great gun but if someone want to safe money... go for the new "Dream Line " series !!!!!
    P.S. A great video !!!!

    • @carsmax
      @carsmax 5 лет назад +1

      Or a Bobcat MK II or a Wildcat MK I ( have the power wheel) Wildcat MK II do not have the power adjustment !!!!

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  5 лет назад +1

      So many to choose from. You are right, this was a gen 1 mk 3 Impact and now the Mk 2 is out. My personal gen 1 mk2 is currently having its regulator switched from the crappy FX one (leaks and is not consistent at all) to a Huma one :) See my DreamLine video, it is not all it is cut out to be, just as good as an Impact / Crown, just all fancy modular. No more accurate at all. Don't fall for the marketing.
