Been using my HW77 for 35 years, I took it down the range a few weeks ago to zero a new scope and you could place a 5p to cover my group at 25m. Very safe words, thank you for making me realise, and saving me £2k ;-)
You can own and shoot a 9mm fx impact in the uk. It just needs to be on an fac ticket. Many here have full power FX air guns. The answer being at that point may as well get a .22lr which is also fully legal here.
Thanks for the review. I am a left-handed shooter - how frustrating that a company can not figure out how to flip a magazine. I bought an Alpha Wolf by Daystate.
Steve im in the US and I watch your videos alot and really enjoy them because of your personality and your knowledge buddy. I give you guys alot of credit in the U.K being able to shoot so great in Sub 12. Your the man Steve take care buddy.

Thanks for that in depth video of the FX M3. I'm useally not one to watch a 40 minute RUclips video but I was gripped by how much detail you went into . At my shooting club the guys slag the M3 off but I'm still yet like many other's to make my mind up . I think now after watching you explain EVERYTHING about the gun I'm gonna go buy one . Thanks for your hard work .

Wha a great great review about the fx m3. You have gone into everything, left nothing out. You are so good. After seeing this review, you don't need to see any more. You leave me in no doubt whatsoever, I want one, sub 12.
You can upgrade from sub 12 to FAC. Spoke to The Sportsman Gun Centre (main UK FX dealer) and they have said it can be fully upgraded to the full fat FAC model for around £500. So for anyone considering it pending getting an FAC in future, it can be upgraded. Warranty from FX is 3 years, so for anyone worried about leaking or reliability it's fully covered for 3 years and the main dealer has a 72 hour turnaround time for warranty repairs. So if anything goes squiffy it can be fixed very quickly.
Thanks for the video. One thing that might be worth mentioning is that you can convert a sub 12 ft/lb to FAC at a later date when you get your firearms certificate.
Had mine a few months the damned thing hits what i point at, Mine is sub12 but i have fitted the quick tune and it makes it so much easier to tune for different ammo. Personally i found a pellet and weight it likes then tuned it to those pellets but fx or jsb work the best i also found it loves the 17gr armex pellets but of course you cant get them anymore.
Awesome review. 👍 The only thing that I don’t like about this is knowing that even Father Christmas isn’t going to place one of these in my cabinet. I’ve just tortured myself for 38 minutes 🎅 🎄 ☹️
Amazing rifle obviously, but in sub-12 when you remove the tuning functionality, I don't see the value for almost £2K. At half the price, a Dreamline Tactical Compact is better value for money IMO. Shorter barrel (who cares at sub-12), a lower shot count and single reg are the compromises to save £1000. Get a Maverick and get dual regs and save £800 or so 😁
I wish they would knock £500 of the asking price for a sub 12 with missing features. Then it would make a lot more sense to more people. But they know they will sell the sub 12 at the same price and so they will continue to do so. I know many who have bought one as it is the latest and greatest and they love it. Just check the replies in this video for evidence of that. Everyone has different depth pockets and everyone has their limits to spend.
I would have got one like a shot if they made it lefty. I got the Sabre Tactical Crown instead. I reckon it would give the Impact and the Red Wolf a run for their money.
Bit of useful info for anyone considering sub 12 pending FAC. I spoke with The Sportsman Gun Center who are the UK main agent for all FX rifles. They have told me without question that a sub 12 fx impact m3 CAN be upgraded to full FAC including all parts, plenum etc for around £500. So, if like me you are considering buying the sub 12 if you don't already have your FAC, you can upgrade to full FAC features later for a relatively reasonable price (I say reasonable for people willing to spend £1800 on a rifle). Also the FX comes with a 3 year warranty from FX which is maintained by The Sportsman Gun Centre, AND they aim for a 72 hour turnaround time on warranty repairs. So for anyone commenting about leaking, reliability etc, if you get any issues then should be dealt with for free, very quickly for up to 3 whole years!
Nice rifle! Like you said though, Needs to be the FAC version. An impact choked to 12ftb is just not cricket ;) I'll stick with my hw110 until I get(If) my FAC license for now. Good vid as usual. SO TEMPTED by one of those scopes for ratting ect . DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve a sub 12 MK3 .177 and it’s absolutely accurate and perfect but I’m not sure about your comment regarding changing the barrel to .22 and you say that the rifle will go over power. This is not the case as the specific none FAC .22 barrel is regulated by the size of the air transfer port size on the breach of the barrel to keep the 1:1 barrel swap with either barrel to be within the sub 12 ft lb limit. So no adjustments are required unless you fit an FAC specific ported barrel and you can’t buy them without an authorised firearms certificate variation. But if I’m wrong pls let me know. This is a good video review. Kind regards Paul.
I was wondering if you had a 500 mm FX impact barrel and you wanted to increase it to 600 mm can you just buy the liner and just get a barrel extender to save money?
Fx should do a UK spec Impact with out the adjustment bells and whistles , a gun that just shoots as near the UK limit as is safe I think it would sell well.
Great video many thanks. I ordered a .177 standard in sub 12 seventeen weeks ago and its just arrived at my rfd. My question is. If I decided to have this put on my fac can this be done?. In other words can all the additional bells and whistles be added to it?.
Can you add parts to make it FAC - Yes you can order them. Not sure on whether you would need to provide proof of FAC, so best speak to your RFD who can advise on getting the parts and possibly fitting them for you.
@@airgunology many thanks steve. I didn't initially order it in fac because I have a Daystate Wolverine 2 that does 35ftlbs in .22. I wanted a .177 in sub 12 for garden shooting and farm billing work. But seeing it's potential now I may be tempted to upgrade it.
Hello. I received in December 2021 my new FX Impact M3 Sniper .22. I have a question. Is it normal that during the night, when I turn off the heating, the next morning, when it's 15 °, the gauge of my first regulator is at 165 bars instead of 150 bar. I take a shot and the regulator is again positioned on 150 bars. Last night I left the heating on and the first regulator did not move, it remained on 150 bars. Thank you .
Hate to say it but you don't necessarily need to modify a cheeper rifle to get just as accurate grouping. My Artemis P15 .22 cal sub 12 ft'lb which cost me about £450, get's just as accurate grouping, though it did take testing multiple pellet brands and weights to get consistent accurate groups, without any need to upgrade the rifle itself in any way. It prefers Air Arms Heavy 18 grain pellets.
as a newbie to the sport and watching all these videos of high end / high prices rifles can i ask why are the groupings not all on the bullseye. If i spent that much and had that much experience surely i would expect to be blowing the centre of the target out with the first ten shot.. I'm just wondering and welcome any kind helpful feedback please
Wind in a nut shell. Light weight ammo gets effected by the wind so easily. Flatter trajectory but in sub 12 your basically limited to 40-50 yards at best unless your really good or lucky. FAC and .22 or bigger at 880 FPS still gets pushed around by the wind even.
As always love your honest and straightforward reviews. Not 100% sure but I think you will find that the sub12 is actually a 500mm barrel hiding in the shroud for a 600 so that the bigger bottle can be fitted. The Maverick is the same. My problem is it’s massive overkill in sub12 both in the extra tech and cash, for the money the Maverick, if you want dual reg and bigger plenum or a Dreamline is as good and doesn’t leak as often. Even in Fac my personal view is the Maverick is superb just marginally more fiddly to tune but if your using the same pellets/slugs that’s not a problem as one tune will give both. With 600 shots in sub12 you either can’t hit a barn door or you have very serious pest problems 😂
Can you actually get the 9mm version in the UK? ,I'm pretty sure it's illegal to own a 9mm powder rifle in this country,I ask because obviously the power of a .35 is going to be well into the 100 and above FPE power ,if you know the legality of that could you let me know please Steve? Great entertaining and informative video as always.
Given the sub 12 ft'lb doesn't come with all the bells and whistles that the FAC has, then the sub 12 should be cheeper simply because you are getting less for your money. That it is this very reason that I won't be purchasing a FX Impact M3, though if it were priced around £1,300.00 for the sub 12 ft'lb then I would purchase one.

As Steve said, no problem. You may wish to change the hammer weight (& spring maybe) apart from that no issue, my 25cal can be as low as 25ftlb & accurate (didn't take it lower) or over 100ftlb, depending on tune, I'm also testing slugs with retained energy of over 12ftlb at 1 mile 😀 CRAZY i know
