Lol , this is GREAT !!! I use to watch this with my brothers and dad back in the 80's ....I miss Solid Gold .....Those were the days !!! Thanks for putting this on !
Every Sunday I would sit glued to the television SG was a must what great memories, Deborah Jensen was one of my favorite SG dancers...Thanks for sharing
Great show and a nice clean video for a 26-year old episode. I miss the great Robert W. Morgan. The mighty boss jock...oh and i loved the dancers as well.
People have always been and will always be assholes. To think otherwise is madness. They will also always be saints. And therein lies the tension of existence.
+Patrick Ney I really disagree. There is a new level of hate and ass-hole-dom on the planet over the past decade or so. There is no question about it, and it was def *not* there in the 80's.
Join The Progress i agree, the 80's were great!!! i know, i know there were crisies and turmoil also, but there was just an all-american togetherness and fun that's gone, i was a child of the eighties now i'm 40 and i can defenitely see it, that " magic " Sheels1976 was talking about, it's gone away!!!
There's my favorite performance to Bryan Adams and Tina Turner's “It's Only Love.” And while it's true that several other dancers performed their own number to this song as well, no one did it better than Cooley and Jamilah! The moves are so powerful, yet intoxicating! And that move at 1:03 shows exactly how stoic Cooley was, and Jamilah's robust nature, in general! Love these two, love SG, and love the clear HD quality you've uploaded!
Awesome! Thanks, dang this is a total rewind to back in the day, I remember watching this show every saturday evening ....Loved it, miss it, thanks again!
The first Solid Gold dancer, Darcel ?? She used to live in the same building as my uncle when I was 5 years old. One night we were walking past her, a tall black lady in a gold leotard. She waves n says hi to me
good lord, I loved this show, I miss the 80's, anyone who can do a back handspring in heels has my respect. ... why do I feel like I need to watch girls just wanna have fun The movie
OMG! what a trip! I loved the solid gold dances, stayin' up late getting a clue about the music of the day! so cool. thanks for this ride in the time machine.
"Wow," how the heck is this video quality so good?? This is among the best I've seen, as good a quality as the original broadcast. Thanks to the uploader!
OK ..i wanna see Solid Gold...on the E true Hollywood .Story....all the steamy stories...drugs affairs etc...they would sell lots of books if one were published
JLO sucks! I dont get any of these people they push as talent JLO is still on her cane routine, cant work a pole and yet judges dancers. How did everything get so fucked up?
I came to watch the dancers whom I loved (well, lusted after to the extreme) when I was a kid, but I soon realized something really, really depressing: the music. Music actually once had a melody to it, and had a whole lot more positive messages. Consciousness has plummeted so, so far since the 80's. This coming from someone who was a huge trouble-maker back then. I can't imagine growing up in today's world of noise pollution they call "music." I just looked at the Billboard Top 10 just to see what it looks like, and at least there's no rap on it...but there is a couple of those "DJ" noise makers, and yes a couple of the more melodic type stuff BUT, it's all stuff that sounds so boring and rehashed even when it is melodic. I mean seriously, there is nothing creative or moving about it *at all.* (Sigh) P.S. Damn...I just realized Gayle was missing from the opening line-up. I remember being so bummed when so many of the dancers would leave, some of them so soon. Gayle lasted a while, but should've stayed on much longer.
Not for nothing but I know the 80's had some ace tunes that are legend but the Top 10 for THAT WEEK bloody sucked! Other than Bryan Turner and Tina Turner song and maybe one or two more, the rest is absolute rubbish, just horrendous. = /
I would love to go back to the 80’s and stay there!
You all have done a service for humanity by reminding us what true tv entertainment was!
I remember how this show would help make Fridays even more special!
Lol , this is GREAT !!! I use to watch this with my brothers and dad back in the 80's ....I miss Solid Gold .....Those were the days !!!

Lol no u were just still ignorant of the reality of the situation.
Percentage wise it's way more today bro.. I was there
Thanks for the post. I love Solid Gold!
Holy crap this is awesome childhood flashback. We need this kind of show today.
The camera angles, lighting, costumes and, of course, the music were all fathers to this dancers success, not just the dancer's talents.

Great Memories /I was a teenager back in these days ...
I watched Solid Gold religiously when I was a teenager. At the end of each episode I would mysteriously disappear to my bedroom.
LOL! But no, hated that stuff.
To study?
Of course. And the homework was always very hard.

"Pam" Rossi was perfect with a well-shaped 5-6 body. 💞

Wow! Did Nicole just pop in there doing flips in heels???!!!! Man, those folks were no job.
Did Nicole do backflips in some damn high heels(00:29)??? I remember this when I was about 4!! I loved this!
Yes, she did. :-)
I've seen that scene many times and I never even realized/thought about the fact that she was in heels. Holy crap.
Nicole was my favorite. I was so in love
Solid Gold mi mejor programa musical , cuando era joven.
I fancied Darcel , then Beverly , then Kahea . How many corns were these girls responsible for , lord alone knows.
Back when good music was revered and celebrated. There are some good songs today but most is just blah.
Gotta love the 80s
I loved it back in the eighties... What was it called back then stuff for step hustle ... 🌴😎🌴
Aww..I wanna be a Solid Gold dancer...somebody warm up the time machine!!

To hell with J.Lo or Vida Guerra, I believe Pamela Rossi possesed the finest tush that has ever inhabited this planet!!
JLO sucks! I dont get any of these people they push as talent JLO is still on her cane routine, cant work a pole and yet judges dancers. How did everything get so fucked up?
No doubt-I wanted to devour her!!!
Too bad Pam couldn't last til season 6 when Frank Sinatra made a historical appearance.
@@kentduryea1741 I think this video is from season 6.
@@alanclark5918I can tell you this is from season 6 based off of the songs in the countdown.
Movie theme from motion picture sound track white nights.
You're welcome, thanks for the nice comment!
@ronafer69 - I was 19 & a sophomore in university in So Cal when this aired.
Is it me or does Beverly have the longest intro? Beautiful. 😊💋

pepe velez You are very observant for that... I was thinking the same thing
You're welcome!
I wanted to be a dancer because of them
No Debra?

i say that all the time to my teenage daughters
@ahafan456 - you're very welcome!
Pam was the hottest
pam equals hot
It seems most 1980s shows made heavy use of the saxophone as the lead instrument. Who was on saxophone for the intro? Anyone?
Kenny G.
Actually, I thought it was Joel Peskin.
hey mr. lb what ever happened to season 5 episode 24?
Wait, what was this show about? Is this like Soul Train for white people?
Watch your mouth boy!!!!!
poppin pete
walk in van c inspire something
What (actually) empowered women look like.
Damn! I'd like to Come on Eileen!
And Pam!!
Not for nothing but I know the 80's had some ace tunes that are legend but

Except for Arcadia and election day… The rest of this is 80s crap.
What`s your problem?!
The old good time of analog, hope and glory.. 😭
