She’s been as big as anyone since the 1980’s. Every female pop star is emulating her, all of them. She wasn’t part of a duo or a group, Madonna has been herself and her own entity since I can remember and I’m in my 40’s, I was like 6 when she started hitting hit big, lol.
@@CatherineCampbell-i1p gotcha, you wanna go further back, works for me. She’s an icon, and I’m talking about my own personal recollection, seeing how it mentioned I was 6, meaning she could’ve been popular longer and iI wouldn’t have understood it, because I was a child, lol.
The intro is Gimme Gimme Gimme, Abba let Madonna to sample their hit because they admire her, they don't like artists to use thier hits, but they let her to sample theirs because they love Madonna song and they admire the Queen of pop!!!!! Madonna song was a bigger hit peaking the top of 41countries!!!!!
@@patricioalves1060 no, she didn't. You think a specific song intro is worth most of the money she would've made from the album. Its not as if she makes a crazy amount like a hundred million from one album. Check out the top paid entertainers yearly and you'll see that while they make huge money that's everything they did for a year. And their entire life revolves around going from one thing to the next all day that either gets them paid or doing promotions which the long run get them paid also. So, if an artist made 40 million in one year what percent of that came from a new album and what percent came the things she was doing every other day, interviews pay amd they do them constantly, endorsements and investments make up a huge portion. If she made 15 million off the album does it make sense that she'd front millions for an intro to 1 of 12 songs. To me it sounds insane.
Of course there's royalty for the sample, but ABBA very seldom let other artists to use their music. Benny Anderson thought the song captured the essence of Gimme, gimme... and gave green light. He thought the song was great. ruclips.net/video/a6MCc8qMy7A/видео.html

I am not so sure the if each member of ABBA cares much for Madonna, but the fact that Madonna sampled ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme intro says much about the value of the sample still relevant standing the test of time... it is a very good intro piece -- one a DJ can easily use as well with other music today -- with its 120 bpm -- perfect dance beat.
There's an interview where Abba said they admire Madonna, they don't like samples but they let Madonna to sample their hit because they admire her and her music! They only let The Fugees and Madonna to use their songs!
Well it is not neccessary that each member of ABBA likes Madonna. Benny and Björn - the rights owner of ABBA like her. Mike Oldfield did an ABBA cover too with permission. but Scooter had to re-record a song with an abba sample and change the album which included the song.
Today one cannot get how HUGE it was this song, in any club people were just sitting sipping their drinks 🍹🍹 nobody dancing, then Hung Up started and instantly EVERYONE got up, hit the dancefloor and got crazyyyyyyy!!! Such adrenaline....everyone mimicking the moves she does with her hands ...I was 19 yrs old and for almost a YEAR in Italy this was the hottest hit....
It's insane how she's mastered the art of making songs that don't age... it hit number 1 everywhere 16 years ago when it was released and it would do the same thing today. Genius.
No, she looked her best from 1980 to 2000 after that she ruined herself with all the plastic surgery, she needs to realise that getting old is natural.
I feel like this song had a chokehold on the world / pop culture in the mid to late 000s. in every movie, commercial, playing at public places, etc. you had to be there
Do you people who are complaining that it sounds like ABBA Gimme Gimme realize what a sample is? Madonna asked ABBA personally if she could sample the song and they agreed, loved the song and receive a portion of the royalties. Madonna finished the song before the ABBA hook was even added
Such a vibrant and energetic dance-pop anthem. The song's catchy hook, combined with its sampling of ABBA's Gimme!........ creates a dynamic and memorable track that resonated well with audiences.
ABBA were PAID by Madonna their biggest cheque ever, so I guess they should thank her more! This was a Number one in 41 countries!!! It made it in the Guinness world record 😘😂

@@breal401 in case you didn't know by watching the video, this video is an homage to Saturday Night Fever with Madonna playing Stephanie, the Karen Lynn Gorney role, which is why she's dressed just like her in the leotard, as Madonna was a professional dancer like the Stephanie character when she started out, the video is also supposed to take place in 1978, the whole album is a bonafide disco throwback album, the production on these songs by Madonna and Stuart Price is outstanding
I could watch this over and over. The parallel editing and movement is perfect. Love how she invokes past techniques as far back as the 80's. I'm thinking of the video "Express Yourself" - where the sound of a song of liberation is heard (on a boombox here, on a horn in Express Yourself) leading to an awakening of those who hear it (the guys at the pizza shop throw down the mop and dance). Then we have take no crap night walking Madonna - (What it Feels Like for a Girl hair). Everyone is shown leaving as if on their way to a final dance off - Beat It, Michael Jackson style. Also Ray of Light ends at a nightclub. I love how she mixes consistency with change.

This song is perfect. Performance, lyrics, melody and the production on this is absolutely mind blowing. Definitely stood the test of time and will do for years to come.
Not a fan of the video, though I like the light up ghetto blaster and dance floor energy. But it doesn't really matter because I've never been much of a fan of music videos. Everything else is a 10. I really like the lyrics too, though they are simple, they are just perfect for the music.

News flash: Madonna has always been stunning and will continue to do so
She’s been as big as anyone since the 1980’s. Every female pop star is emulating her, all of them. She wasn’t part of a duo or a group, Madonna has been herself and her own entity since I can remember and I’m in my 40’s, I was like 6 when she started hitting hit big, lol.

Hola 😔😔😔😔😄😄😄😘😘😘😘💓🌹🌹🌹💐🤩🤩🤩👽👽👽😃🤗💌
she had to pay millions of dollars for using their song

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call, baby, night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun

The lights are on but there's no one home
Tick, tick tock it's a quarter to two
And I'm done, I'm hanging up on you
I can't keep on waiting for you
I know that you're still hesitating
Don't cry for me, 'cause I'll find my way
You'll wake up one day
But it'll be too late
Every little thing that you say or do

True!!!!!!!!
