I'm a dentist. I'm using your video to help teach my daughter how to assist me. GREAT JOB!!
Thank you girls 🙌🏻 I’m a trainee DA and I’ve been struggling with the suction. Feel a bit stupid and inadequate that I’m still not 100% confident with it. This helped a lot 🥰
This is something that takes practice, but no worries, you can master it! 😃😄
Lp
Dwww girlll I’m the same 😭
Dont worry so much. Am a DA for decades too ,and you will learn so fast as days go along..
@@fatimashabbir4869 😂 i struggle too
I was shadowing a dentist yesterday, and he felt comfortable enough to let me assist him for a moment while his assistant was with another patient. It was cool and very awkward at the same time, so now I'm going down a rabbit hole of DA tips and techniques. Thank you for your videos!!
I've started as a dental assistant a month ago, the suctioning part has me a little confused but your video has made it already clearer, thank you Carla and Gabby
It’s easy to say but ones you have patients going in and out and they want you to be fast is a whole another story😩
I'm a dental assistant and I love your videos!!!!! Thank you thank you! So glad i found your guys channel! Hoping lots of success for you guys with this channel!
So happy you two have this RUclips channel! Helps a ton!
I can’t believe how helpful you girls are. Thank you so much. ❤️😭 so happy I’ve found you.
This is so helpful!!! Thank you so much!!! I’m thinking about going to school for dental assisting and currently working the front desk at an office. This helps me visualize and better understand instruments and the day-to-day, helping clean rooms, etc. ❤
Yeah I think I need to talk to my doctor and ask him for mouth mirrors. I did 2 work interviews and in both of them none of their DA’s or doctors used mouth mirrors with HVE. Having a mouth mirror on hand seems super important and helpful. I used the HVE to help retract a patients tongue and suction at the same time and the pressure cause a little red bulb to form under their tongue. Had I been given a mouth mirror that would’ve never happened.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I struggle with this a lot and no video goes into this much detail about all the little weird angles. Thank YOUU!! ❤️❤️
We’re glad to know it was helpful! 😊😊
I'm on internship and I been watching videos this yet the best one so far ❤️💯🙏
Thank you for these videos ladies! As a new DA trying to learn as fast as possible, this is sooo helpful! 🙌❤
You’re welcome!! 🥰🥰
Love this video and the different ways you ladies show for different scenarios
Wow. This video is so helpful! I'm in Dental Assisting school and I never thought suctioning would be so hard! I will have to come back to this video to keep learning!!
Ladies, thank you so much! I’m a brand new dental assistant and these tools are helpful
Awesome!! 🥰🥰
Thank you so much for helping us I’m getting ready for my externship with your videos and practice I’m so nervous but I’m trying my best!! 💓💓
Thank you so much for making these videos! I'm starting my externship next week and this is a great review of positioning, especially for that upper left. Thank you!
y’all literally just saved my life!!
Thank you very much ! I’ve been struggling to hold the suction all this time.
this was so helpful! my class is kind of fast paced & I didn’t quite feel too confident until now. Thank you
Love the dry angle for the left side. Thanks girls.
Thank you guys so so much!❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad I found your channel. I have been out of the dental field for a couple of years now but am so ready to get back in. I have my first interview today after several years and I have been watching your videos since last night. They have been soooooo helpful in refreshing my memory. Thank you and look forward to watching more of your videos ❤
Thank you and good luck! It’s like riding a bike, you got this 🙂
Did u get the job.
I’m a new DA learning on the job- it’s my second week and I’m def struggling with the hi-vac, the saliva ejector is so much easier but I know I need to use both 😂
You need to use the hi vac at all times. They can retract soft tissues and a patients tongue and cheeks at the same time providing aspiration. Forget about salivary ejectors. Learn to use wide bore aspiration. Once you've mastered wide bore you won't look back. Good luck.
YOU TWO ARE AWESOME!! Thanks for making this channel, it's been very helpful I just started as a DA. I graduate in 2 months 🥳🥳
I'm glad you guys make all these videos
Thank you Carla and Gabby🙏♥️
You’re welcome! Thank you for the love! 🥰😁
Best help I've had in and out of school. Thank you ladies so much!!!!
I appreciate these videos! I will start my externship at the end of June and I'm extremely nervous
I love y’all 😂 so descriptive thank you love the videos 💕
Omg thankyou you guys !!! You helped a lot especially on the left side upper arch please keep doing more videos on tips and tricks! You guys explained everything perfectly
We are glad to help 🦷
This video is very helpful It helps me a lot now that I just started working with the pedo doctor suctioning during a filling procedure is way different than suctioning during an extraction procedure definitely will keep watching this video until I get really good at it thanks for the tips guys
Thank you so much for this video!
I love that this guy is letting you show us this. very informative thank you.
Thank you ladies, excellent video. ❤️❤️
Light adjustments, alginate mixing and cast, Filling mixing
Ty SO much!
I am also trainee nurse. I’m struggling to suction. This is a very useful video thanks.
Its very hard for me to suction while dentis use ultrasonic scaler.
Great video!! I’ve been a DA for 16 years and just started training new DA’s (mainly externs), they always ask about suctioning and it’s harder to explain to actually see what I’m talking about. I’ll be sending this video to my newbies 😊
Thank you!
Y'alls videos are so helpful Thank you!!
In DA school and you girls are my inspiration!!! Love it!
❤️❤️
i am super new RDA got a job now as probi and yeah i am suck holding the suction and saliva ejector but after watching this video hopefully all will be fine i am on my 3rd day today
Awesome videos ladies!
Thank you. It helps a lot.
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. Very helpful video.
You guys are amazing. This video is so helpful indeed.Thank you and wish you all the best.
🦷🦷🥰🥰
Thank you so much for helping
Thank you 🙏🏽
Wow! I learned more about suctioning in this video than I did in school and my externship. Yikes! But grateful. Haha
No way!! We’re glad the video is helpful! 😃😄
Thank you so much.
Thanks so much. It’s very very helpful.🙏❤️❤️
Thank you. Ladies!! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks a lot for making all these videos. It helps Dental Assisting studies.
We’re happy to know that! 🥰🥰
Thanks so much for your video.🙏❤️❤️
Super helpful thank you
Thank you thank you so much I needed this
Thank you lady’s 💛
Come here when doc explain me the principle of suction. But cant get him. You guys awesome. More please❤️
🥰🥰
I've been assistant for over four years now and you are absolutely right about the saliva ejector being too flexible to retract with. Unfortunately I have a micromanaging boss that keeps making me use it like a retractor and blames it on the brand of ejector we buy. I had to tell her it's not the suctions but the adaptors don't grip the saliva ejectors very well AND SEs weren't made to retract. She's having me buy new adaptors next order 🙄 anybody else hate a wanna be know it all dentist?
Good luck girl! That’s so annoying…
@@DentalVibes I would still use what is best for you and your patient. Wide bore are second to none. Gets the job done. Salivary ejectors cannot provide protractation as they are too soft.
Very helpful tips & tricks ! 🦷🫶🏾
Very helpful!
Very nice and helpful, thank you
This is very educational video.❤❤❤
amazing tips, thanks girls.
Great tips!
Have you ever considered a video or maybe just a small video topic regarding proper posture while working chair side? I'm a 4 year CDA and often experience back pain myself is why I ask. I hear I'm not the only one dealing with such issues
Yes we thought about it 🙂 We definitely should do it. Thanks for the input
Yes please we need a video for that
You girls rock!
Thanks for the video mam. Can you please make a video to show how to hold air rotor for all the quadrants? Thank you.
So adorable over a decade - lol
My aunt just had her 43 yr anniversary of being a Dental Assistant. She remembers practicing without gloves before Aids became in play.
She says they used to hand dipped their x-rays too.
I was a Dental Assistant for about 4 years, yet it was not for me. I absolutely had no interest in becoming a Dental Hygienist either.
I am a Pharmacist now..good luck ladies.
Glad I found this video it will help me a lot but the way this dentist office is set up it’s hard for me to even multitask. I don’t retract with a mirror or use the air to blow on the dentist mirror. 😢 newbie here
I have a tip! When assisting treatment on a tooth on the LR ~#28-#31 sometimes I like use both saliva ejector and HVE to prevent the tongue from getting sucked up by the hve but also providing more suction with the saliva ejector.
Great tip!
@@DentalVibes do you rest the HVE on the saliva ejector or where is HVE and ejector when you do this?
Very nice video love it Thankyou
👍 thank you
I’m so bad with getting ppls tongue and cheek with my HVE 😂😂😂 whoops!
Same wasn’t provided an extra mouth mirror to work with
Me too😂
Sometimes a tongue depressor works better than a mirror to retract those tongues that push back on you. Because when the mirror gets wet with a tongue that doesn't stay still it starts slipping and sliding, and then your hand will hurt. But since the tongue depressor is made of wood it will kind of dry the area of the tongue it's resting on and kind of stick to it, so it makes it easier for you to control the tongue without the pressure on your hand and arm.
So true!
omg this was the video I NEEDED !!! I just survived my first week as an extern and I had to assist the doctor in a deep cleaning and I REALLY MESSED UP IN SUCTIONING! thank you guys so much !❤
Hi can you do a topic on how to study effectively and how to make note on class ?
Omg thank y’all!!! Y’all provide tips on the tricky scenarios
You doing a great 👍 👌 job . Keep it up.
One tip that really helps me out with the HVE is bend the tip of it. That way it's more flexible.
My Dr. likes the HVE bent at the tip :)
How can you bend it? You mean the white tipped?
How?
Great videos 😊
My office doesn’t provide a mirror on the assistant side in our cassettes, I’ve been using the AW to move the tongue out the way. Would that work? We have extra instruments in packs on the side so I might just add it to my side for when I assist.
I loved this videos! They have very interesting. Videos
Thank you!
Lol I retract with the saliva ejector cause for me, I push it in-between the tongue and close to the tooth gum and it helps me a lot cause my patients close to spot every 5 seconds 🙄😅 but I have my tricks .. I just wanted to see how others do it anyways 😁👍
As many new assistants I am also struggling with the HVE. but the problem I’ve been having is when I’m going back into the mouth to suction, the HVE is so big that the patients open the back of their throat more before I can get the water and it just keeps going further down and I don’t want to gag them trying to reach it. I am very gentle but maybe not quick enough? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Very helpful! Just an idea, when watching the video up close, having both sets of hands wearing the same color gloves confused me a tiny bit at times when trying to figure out what the dentist was doing/holding vs the assistant. Different colored gloves on the dentist might be helpful for us newbies 😊
The dentist is holding the hand piece. DA's hardly ever use the hand piece. DA is holding the suction.
in the UK we only use the suctions we dont touch the aspirator its for the dentist only
The upper left has been soooo difficult for me to get. I keep trying to retract with my HVE and sucking the gums and cheeks just like you said. I will try the cotton roll technique! Thanks so much! I do have a question.. I’m always scared to put down my air water bc I know I need to rinse and dry the tooth but I can’t retract with my air water. I want to use a mirror bc I feel I would have more control with retracting but again.. I worry about putting my air water down. Any insight?
Yes this!! I need help with this too
I wish the dentist I work at would let us dental nurses have a mirror! It seems so much more efficient and helpful for the dentist and us dental nurses. Thanks for the help ladies 🥰
Why wouldn’t you be allowed to have a mirror?
It’s just never been a thing in my practice
@@keira9295 that’s ok, you can make it a thing. Next time just grab an extra mirror
Thank you these videos are really helping me out as a DA trainee! I have a mock interview tomorrow and I am super nervous because this will be my first time working with a real patient and as a chairside DA! Please provide me with any tips or advice so I can land this job....I am afraid I will forget everything I have learned as a DA. P.S. I have not graduated yet but I have this big interview!
Take deep breaths! 😅 We have 2 videos on interviews and working interviews, we’ll leave the links! A big part of a DA is being organized and following infection control procedures. Also being a team player, looking out for your fellow DAs to see if they need help and always staying busy! If people see that immediately you have a fighting chance because everything else you will learn over time 😊👍🏼 Please check out our other links and reach out to us on IG if you have more questions! Good luck!

@@DentalVibes Thank you very much! Peace and blessings!
How about if you use the Hs and still water going to the back .. is these positions helpful with that or do I gotta keep switching off from Hs to Se
You guys did just so great in this video kudos .I am new here
Thank you 🥰🥰
Pls make video on how to pass n hold the insrument during assisting
We will, in the meantime you can see a little bit of that in this video -> ruclips.net/video/yiCBL7rUM3U/видео.html
My doctor almost never uses the water from this hand piece so I just do my best with my air water to retract and the HVE lol! 😅
I became a dental assistant again after 20 years. I’m finding that I’m having a problem switching from the suction, air/water and handing my dentist the equipment or items he needs. Can you please show how to manipulate all these at one time. Thank you Bari
Can you guys make a video about organization of drawers? Pls 😊
Omg I’ve been organizing all week and I didn’t take any photos 😅🤦🏻♀️ honestly I don’t have a particular “system”. I buy storage from the dollar store and work with what I got LOL I also like to line the drawers 🤓 I’ll take final photos! -Carla
