I get so nervous when i take impressions i always want to get a good print on the first try 😩 and i always feel bad for the patient when i have to take another one
At first it is intimidating to take impressions on a patient. It’s something that practice will just make perfection. Did you watch our video on Alginate impressions? 👇🏼😊

Thank you guys Ive been working for a few weeks and have been kinda freaking out but it's getting better 👍 I love these videos and I got lucky with my job everyone is great but letting me just do everything myself unlike my externship I didn't get alot of the hands on experience I really needed (mostly x-rays) but I'm getting it now! I feel better that I'm not the only one that feels over whelmed! I really do love it and I'm so excited to keep learning and get it down!
Thats great!! It’s always challenging at the beginning but keep learning and taking notes and you’ll continue to grow!
I love watching your videos. It helps me a lot. I felt not happy my last dental office. A lots of staff quit before our group and The manager is the owner and the dentist .I always cried after work and not excited to go to work. All my group they left and i'm the one who stay . But one time i give up same day i cried and resign . Now i'm happy to my new office . They appreciate all what i did and i enjoyed. I scared to quit before because i'm scared to find new job dental office thats why i stayed even though is toxic.I'm glad i did. I'm happy now and more paycheck and less work and no stress.
Glad things are working out!
@@DentalVibes I'm hoping
Make a video about the technique of taking xray with big tori .
Also how to handle and respond to a mean patient.
Thank you
Dental assisting is very very stressful....I've thrown things away...done every one of these things..😮
Thank you for this Video. 👍 It is great. And thanks for your experience. As a patient you don't have an overview of how extensive and responsible your work is. What do you like most about your job?
I hope everthing is right, because I'm not a native English speaker.
I feel this!!! I have lost a driver/thrown away as well as a tourniquet and I had to dig through dumpster for like an hour to find 😂😂😂
It’s like, if you never had to dig through the trash for something, you were never a true DA 🤣🤣 LOL
Dumpster diving comes with the job for sure 😂😂
I've forgotten to put on the lead apron for xrays 🤦🏾 Don't do that ppl! Thank God my doctor didn't fire me lol
Was it digital? Hopefully 🤣
@@DentalVibes yes it was! So less radiation. He still wasn't happy with me. Ya live and learn 🤷🏾
Same
A year! My program is only 12 weeks! I'm really stressing that I'm not going to learn enough!
can you make a video about making temporary from scratch if you don't have a pre-op?
I once suctioned the cord during a crown prep.
😂🤣
I did that 🤣
When I was a new DA, the oral cameras just came out(mid-90’s)and it was my first introduction to tech in the office. Well, instead of being one unit like they are today, you had to unscrew the camera lense to sterilize it separately. My Dr. was so proud that she was the first to try this tech out of her other dentist friends, was awestruck at its ability to capture a picture, etc….I accidentally threw one away. 💩I felt so bad I was crying, but she begrudgingly said it was a mistake.🤣I still feel bad, 25 years later. They cost $500.00 each.
OMG!! Wow!! 😅🥴
My mistake is I was about to wash the instrument after the ultrasonic but one of the scaler went down to the sink hole and I had to get it out by using the tweezer , I was so scared because of the camera lol thx God I made it
Nice save! 😂
I've been in SEVERAL toxic work environments (95% of them)
I’m currently on my internship and I was assisting on a crown prep on tooth #18 and I couldn’t retract the pts cheek I couldn’t suction the patient was complaining it was a mess the doctor told me to let the other assistant take over I felt really bad I wanted to died 😢the other assistant was there watching she didn’t do anything to help me out
That’s part of the process. Here are a few things to remember when you’re starting…
1: you will make tons of mistakes
2: not everyone will hold your hand through every step. Sometimes is swim or sink. In your path you will find some ppl that will take the time to teach you things and some that won’t
3: give your best, ask for help, show initiative, ask questions and take notes. Study on your downtime. Watch videos over and over again. You will make it through 🙂
I’m sorry that happened to you but….you learn by your mistakes. I know it’s awkward now and scary, but you just get in there and ask questions. If the Dr doesn’t answer, or is huffy about it, you just do something. That Dr is not a good sport about having a new DA in the office. It happens, same with other staff. Time to grow a thick skin hon. So many times I would cry in the car on the way home and get a milkshake!😂Then I got experience and I had set boundaries You can do it, I believe in you! Retired DA of 23 years…❤
My doctor was checking coils on the wires & I threw the coils away on accident he wanted to kill me hahahah
i lost the cap to the curing light🤦🏾♀️
We had one assistant who put STONE instead of alginate🤣 doctor spent 3 hours to cut it out of patient's mouth!
OMG!!! 😱😱 I bet that was a very scary moment 😬😅
Was she fired?
@@marieschrader9150 obviously) i work there 3 years now and didn't see anyone
I let a burs inside the hand piece and it broke! Drop the hand piece 3 times during the procedure! Let the the patient with his wide open he didn’t close! 😂 couldn’t under charting! Didn’t know how to take x rays I give up on myself
😱😱😱
It's good though to make them horrible... Then they are for sure to come and get their perm crown
You guys should do quizzes on step ups and the steps. For me that’s always a big thing i forget and fumble to get everything. So embarrassing! 🤣💀
😂🤣
They’re nuts for not even watching u do that from the beginning 🙄 8,9?!! W a newbie?!!!
Yup 😅 I think it was because I was doing good. I was showing confidence, but clearly wasn’t ready for all that 🥴
I've once suction my Dr. Hair also a pt. Hair.. lolzzzz, not funny though
I have definitely suctioned the doctors hair on my working interview 🤦♀️
But have you seen a doctor try to be an assistant 🤣 doesn’t workout well
🤣🤣🤣🤣 the worst!!
Today was my first day at my externship.. mind you I’ve been physically in class only three days. Anyway, I was asked to suction and I accidentally sucked up the gauze inthe patients mouth. The dr had to stop and dig it out of the HVE 🫣
It happens 😂
