I’m sure us assistants in training know that we “HAVE” to learn know and learn certain things but keep in mind that not everyone has the best instructors so our knowledge would be based on what we practice and learn in the office.
I've been watching your videos for about 3 weeks now and they've helped me so much while I was still in school. I passed my exam yesterday and found an externship site the same day. I start it tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous but also really excited. I love watching your videos!!
I’ve started extern and we got extremely limited practice for all these procedures except for x rays. Let me tell you, x rays for me are the hardest. I almost feel like I’m more of a burden at my office because how out of practice I am, but these videos really help reinforce the idea of practice. They also tell me at my office practice makes perfect, so I know I just have to keep giving it my all
Started my externship in January 25, 2021 and got hired February 18, 2021. In May 2021 I was offered a Lead Dental Position because of how motivated I was to learn and to grow in the field. The Dentist I work for knows I graduated through online school with no experience besides reading textbooks and she was still willing train me. As my first experience as a dental assistant in a pediatric dental office, I am thankful for a boss who was and still is patient with me.
I'm so happy for you! Right now I'm going thru the exact same thing were I chose an online school to be able to work. And I saw this video about everything I already needed to know and started freaking out lol. But I'm happy I found your comment, hopefully I get enough knowledge before my externship, and a Dentist with enough patience
I started mine yesterday which thank for my office is closed today cause girlll I need a break. I feel overwhelmed especially how things went and now I just can’t stop being sad I feel like I’m not smart enough to to go on with this anymore my little brain can’t take it.
@@DentalVibes I’m trying😩 I watched your whole video and it was seriously good and had some helpful advice for me confidence is an issue and comparing myself to other assistants. I know it’s important not to take criticism so personally I need to accept and just learn but it’s hard. I hope tomorrow in my office is better than the first day. Even though I’m not in school anymore I still feel like I need to study especially for that DANB exam. It just suck how everyone got cool extern sites getting to do hands on as for me I got to do some things and sanitize which to my supervisor wasn’t good. Idk y’all but I hope I do better😩
I start externship tomorrow and have been watching a lot of your videos its been soooo mind refreshing as well as building up my confidence to jump right in and help!!!
I start my externship tomorrow and i'm super nervous I have some experience with xrays and polishing and feel confident with doing them but i didn't spend much time practicing charting at my school and i feel like i will struggle with that the most. I hope that the staff there are super nice and patient with me.
Make sure to review teeth numbering, that you must know. As soon as you find out which software the offices uses find some videos on RUclips. Most companies have their own training videos posted on RUclips. Charting can be tricky and the dental team may not have enough time to teach all about their software and charting, you may have to put in your own work.
I just started as an extern but I’m skipping the DA program and I’m going to just get my hours for the DH program and it is so hard without the knowledge you learn in a DA program but you guys really help me out!

That i would work first ro get money to pay for rent with my brother and study when id get home from work and then try to apply for internships, externships. And not let my dental registration get expired. Once i get enough money and we are settled. I will continue to look for externship and internships along with studying while working. The only way this could change is if i find a dental job thays willing to teach me while i myself continue to study.
I'm currently taking a DA program and they have already told us after the first day of FMX's on each other, so basically I've done an FMX on one classmate thus far, that we can hit up offices for externships. After watching this, I am not prepared to start one! I still haven't learned impressions or anything other set up besides a basic/new patient set up. I should just wait right? Cause I don't want to be stuck as sterilzation >
Usually the externship is the last part of your program. After you went over everything you will be certified to do. It’s strange that your program would tell you that 🤷🏻♀️
Ah girls I love your energy and useful info so much, but the sound is so awful I wanna tear my ears off 😭 I wish you all the best and to get more subscribers!
I've started my externship, however, after completing 101 hrs, they terminate the externship. I went to another dentist off and did about 80 hrs, and they also canceled my externship. What’s the reason your externships have been cancelled? As an intern you’re not really providing “free labor” because you have to be taught and trained, and not all offices can provide that amount of training nor are they bound to do so. Also, your DA program should be preparing you to be successful in your externships. Hopefully our video helped you a bit. Pls send us more specific questions. You can also reach us on Instagram. @@DentalVibes I'm from Germany. How is the way to become a dental assistant in the USA? In my country we have to visit one day per week the school to get the basics . The other 4 days we work in the office and learn from the dentist or the graduated dental assistants to do the practical work with real patients. After 3 years we have the final exam. If we pass we are graduated dental assistants. Is it the same way in your country?
@@Anna-cq1md oh that’s why we didn’t understand your question. Yea here in the US is completely different. Therefore, we can’t give you much info. We have no idea how it works in Germany. Here you can be trained on the job and then do the exams to be certified or go to a program where you would leave with all the certifications already. The programs can be from 10 weeks to one year including externship hours
@@DentalVibes Oh ok It's completly different. We start from zero (after the regular school) in the office and learn everything in 3 years. And you get at first a training and after that you can work in a dental office? Is this right?

Hey girls! Do you all recommended a 10 week program to go to or 2 years of college for dental assistant. I am a slow learner so I’m really not sure which route to go! Thank you I love you guys videos!! 😊
I feel like yall are really pushy like all the “you should already have that in your brain” most dental assistants programs are short af and rushed af my program is 12 weeks im on week 8 and i still don’t know wtf im doing theyre so much you have to remember all the different instruments and all the different things you need for tray setups is ridiculously crazy like its a lot this definitely isn’t a program that should be rushed but it is
Yep, we don't like the shorter programs because dentistry is too extensive to teach in only 12 weeks. We are just keeping it real on what a DA job will be expecting, so this is info to get you prepared. We have more videos with more info that are hopefully useful.
I’m sure us assistants in training know that we “HAVE” to learn know and learn certain things but keep in mind that not everyone has the best instructors so our knowledge would be based on what we practice and learn in the office.

Highly recommend watching our set up videos so that you can get involved hands on, don’t get stuck in sterilization!
First thing we recommend you get down is infection control and sterilization techniques. Then learn about the office’s flow and dynamics with patients. Finally start watching set up videos and find out what requirements you need to know for your State.
Hey girls! Do you all recommended a 10 week program to go to or 2 years of college for dental assistant. I am a slow learner so I’m really not sure which route to go! Thank you I love you guys videos!! 😊
Hello! Please check our latest video it should answer your question 🙂 and thanks for the love 💕🦷
Omg ! Thank you! I’m about to start my externship I’m so nervous about it I’m sure this is going to help me so much 🫶🏻🙌
anyone wanna make a group chat for dental assisting to help each other out
