    • @quelorepario
      @quelorepario 3 года назад +6

      @@akroia1986 yeah, the water layer prevents oxygen ever reaching the avocado, but because the avocado has a very high in fat content so it will be hydrophobic and it wouldn't "water down" the avocado/guacamole. The same protective layer could be done with oils, but it would be impossible to get rid of it effectively affecting the food, so the water is an elegant and simple solution.

    Hi! One tip from Lima Perú with the avocados, palta for us. When you open the avocado and is still in use, you put the seed in a small bowl with water till the top. You leave it in your kitchen all the time that the avocado is not finished. When the avocado is finished you can throw the seed and water. This is for the avocado not been black. Little tips from our grandmas through the years😉

    Great recipe
    To make avocado easier to mash after removing seed cut into the flesh in a cross pattern then scoop it out. Leaving smaller cubes that a fork works through in no time
    Also you can just leave the seed in the avocado half you aren't using or put the seed into the guacamole this will prevent it going brown.
    Finally you can use grown cumin & black pepper for extra flavour plus spring onions instead of or with less of the onion.

    • @Downshiftology
      @Downshiftology  6 лет назад +4

      Great tip on slicing the avocado first before mashing! But unfortunately leaving the seed in the avocado is a bit of an old wives tale. It's been debunked by science that it does nothing to prevent it from going brown. Instead you need a way to prevent oxidization, which the water does (or plastic wrap on top, but I prefer the water). :)

    • @isaz597
      @isaz597 6 лет назад

      Downshiftology thanks for reply. Honestly I've used the seed in & without over night with the guacamole actually not turning brown. You could be right I have lid which comes my storage container. But definitely without a doubt the avocado half I'm not using if left with seed in doesn't spoil for at least 24 hours.

    I didn’t have any tomatoes or any jalapeños so I used some salsa. Which had both, and it still tastes amazing. If you don’t have jalapeño or tomatoes then use about 2 to 3 tbs of salsa like I did

    Easy to find ingredients, took about 10 minutes to make it and I loved the mild "kick" from the jalapenos! Will be making it again.....this week!! Thank you for sharing your recipe 🥑

    I just discovered your channel, and you now have over 1 million subscribers. And I can see why! I was hooked after I watched your video on how to make different levels of hardboiled eggs. I love how detailed you are in your research and testing, but you don't bore the viewer with a long drawn out background about it either. You have such great tips, and you know the science behind the foods you are using. I think the world was craving a food channel host like you!

    Great idea, I'll definitely try it. But I have one thing which is always confusing me as I'm not from english speaking country. Is a cilantro just coriander's leaves?

    How is this recipe any different from the classical one??? What did she mean when she said: everyone says my recipe is the best? That is how 80% people make it. Why does se call it HER recipe??
