This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new and updated 2023 Kia Telluride 3-row mid-size SUV. What new for 2023? The Kia Telluride gets redesigned LED headlights, fog lights, grille, front bumper and wheels. In the rear, the signature taillight design remains but the LED layout has been revised and the bumper is more integrated. The interior gets a refresh as well with a larger standard 4.2” driver display, available dual 12.3” touchscreen and digital driver display, a larger wireless phone charger area, a new steering wheel design, power tailgate with an away close function and for the very first time in a Kia, an available full display digital rearview mirror. There are two new 2023 Kia Telluride trims, X-Line (which we are test driving) and X-Pro which offer a higher ground clearance of 10 mm, a tow mode, dark exterior accents including gloss black roof rails and front grille plus dark metallic trim. The X-Pro can tow 5500 pounds, has a 110V inverter in the cargo area and an exclusive 18” wheel design with all-terrain tires. The 2023 Kia Telluride X-Line model gets 20” wheels. There are two new interior colour options including terracotta brown for both models and a sage green for the Telluride X-Pro only. The new 2023 Kia Telluride has a 3.8L V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 291 horsepower and 262 lb-feet of torque, standard AWD in Canada. FWD and AWD options in the US. This Kia has 8” of ground clearance but the new X-Line and X-Pro models have 8.4”. Standard features include, a 12.3” touchscreen with navigation, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, 8-passenger seating, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, single sunroof and a power liftgate. The Telluride starts at $49,995 CAD, SX $54,995 CAD, SX Limited $58,995 CAD, X-Line $60,995 CAD and X-Pro $62,595 CAD. LX FWD $35,690 USD, LX AWD $36,690 USD, S FWD $37,590 USD, S AWD $39,590 USD, EX FWD $41,290 USD, EX AWD $43,290 USD, EX X-Line$45,485 USD, SX FWD $45,490 USD, SX AWD $47,490 USD, SX X-Line $48,885 USD, SX X-Pro $49,885 USD, SX Prestige $50,390 USD, SX Prestige X-Line $51,785 USD, SX Prestige X-Pro $52,785 USD.

As a mom of 2 teen boys and a dog, its a car I would love to have. However, the demand for it has not stopped and i will not be swayed to pay up to $10-$15k over then be under water in couple years.
You are right, it's a great family hauler with some luxury to it for a non-luxury brand. But, if the mark ups are ridiculous, it's not worth it.
Buy pre-owned.
Read somewhere to just place it on order, The dealer will sell it at MSRP.
What would you be under in a couple years? Unless I'm assuming you change cars pretty frequently
@@blipblop92 depends on mileage and condition. Tellys hold their value.
I love this rig. Went to lease one, only to find out Kia’s lease rate is 8.99%!!!
2.49%, sure.
3.99%, fine.
8.99% crazy.
Exactly....all these Kia/Hyundai reviews fail to mention the lease rates and lease residuals (% and $)......or the fact that Kia Canada has stopped allowing its dealers to submit orders....they get allocation and then go through their internal dealer wait list.... average 12 months (or more) wait for a new Telluride in Canada....
You have to see this beauty in person. To really appreciate how gorgeous and impressive it really is!!
One of the things that I appreciate about your videos is that you two are clearly having a good time. Your videos are informative AND fun but without any forced humour unlike some RUclips duos who shall remain nameless. (🙄)

My brother's wife just got a fully loaded Telluride X Line Prestige (1 down from the 10 trims) and seems quite happy about it. She traded in her Honda Odyssey minivan, which was falling apart.
Nice car! Wife wanted one when we found out she was pregnant. We opted for a compact SUV. So crazy to see snow in the background, just yesterday we were at 86°F (30°C).
I know we got a dusting of snow the other day, I was not thrilled about that!
over $64K for a Korean vehicle...not for me...dealership mark up is just too high to swallow...
Great review, bought my EX-P in 4/21 at MSRP thanks to your channel's wisdom.
You make the best car reviews on your channel. You are also the perfect couple.
Thank you so much, we appreciate the kind words
Great review!
Good point about the 2nd row.
I think the new Pilot actually has the best solution (you have the bench when you need it and take it out when you don't).
but no arm rest when you don't have the center seat! Hahahah
I refuse to pay mark ups
Although prior to the pandemic, the dealers are asking from $5000 to 15000 above sticker! This takes the Telluride out of the affordable category. I would wait a year or two before considering this model!
Should have read “ Although a great deal prior to the pandemic…”
Plenty of bells and whistles in this car, mostly in the cabin, which is what most reviewers look at, but the engine is old school (in a bad way) prone to carbonization issues and under the car the finish it quite cheap and sloppy. As it turns out there is no such thing as a free meal and this car is built to impress but not to last imo. If you want to buy a car to keep it you’re better off with the Pilot or even better the Highlander.
Had mine for a little over a year.. its a 22 n i love it.. this suv is the truth
dashboard layout looks really classy and super functional.
Zach and Andrea really do their homework. I love zach.
The best choice in this price category especially with brown interior.
Great vehicle in both exterior and interior. Here’re we go again Zack get scared again! 😂 And he requested a pillow for his back. 😂 I am little surprise they using 6V not 4V and the gas mileage is so and so. I hope they bring hybrid in the future. Great video Andrea! 👏🏻👏🏻☕️☕️
Thank you, glad you liked the review. Haha, thank goodness for the extra grab handles for Zack, they came in handy for him.
@@andreaspencer9813 😆 I agree about this grab handles. 😆
That's a massive car Andrea, Zack definitely scared 😱 and he's not acting lol 😆 Looks well designed as Kia cars are across the board.
Thank goodness for the extra grab handles on this Telluride, Zack needed them. lol!
@@andreaspencer9813 Absolutely 💯 % agree Andrea lol
It's nice that the Telluride has now received a pretty substantial refresh, though I feel like they didn't go far enough in features like the Palisade did. I personally think amber DRLs look cheap compared to white so it's a good change. Was probably worse for visibility when combined with the main headlights. I do think that more people preferred the amber DRLs though, so it might affect sales and demand based on that. Excited to see your thoughts on the Palisade. I think it has now beaten its sibling by improving its weaknesses, mainly looks and opulent features.
I don't think the amber was to help the driver see but to be seen. Humans tend to gravitate towards yellow and there is less likely to have colorblindness to yellow as other colors. That being said, I'm personally meh on the amber lights. I'm just more irritated by the 10,000 packages we have in the US. 3-4 I don't need 8 now that we've got the X-pro line up with this one. But we can also get that top trim for around 55k USD. I guess give and take.
I have the amber DRLs and love them. I had the white and hated them compared to these.
This was my first pick but the 2023 Honda pilot offering a removable middle seat on the second row in the top two models which gives you a bench for 8 seats or 7 seats if you remove it. Is great
I like how Zach always shits his pants when Andrea is driving lol.
Regarding pricing, one thing that you didn’t touch on is the changing Canadian exchange rate. I would think that this is a significant component of the increasing price.
Good review well done! I do miss the amber DRL’s. Kia, make 2 concessions, change the white bulbs to amber and offer the top trims with that second row bench!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
I like the Telluride… at around $50-55 grand, quite a lot. But at nearly $63,000 for the top trim sounds absolutely ludicrous! But in all fairness, I’ve never experienced either the KIA Telluride or the Hyundai Palisade. So… maybe its a fair offer. I can’t wait to test drive one or somebody I know buys one. Ideally, a rental company starts acquiring them (I have a preferred account with Enterprise… hopefully they follow Motormouth). Thanks for sharing your impressions.
When you say the prices are extreme always have something to compare it to. Otherwise, the prices on EVERYTHING keeps going up so make sure you blame in inflation and not just a single car manufacturer. One more thing, are you getting more in this update than you did before?
I could have bought it if it was close to MSRP but 15K above is crazy! I end up choosing between MDX A spec vs QX60 Luxe which is cheaper than the Kia and choosing the Infiniti for the comfort vs the MDX drive.
It probably is too much lol. At that price better get a model y to save on fuel costs.
@@dodgenav6901 driving a few hundred miles may land you a good deal on a telluride. thats what I did
@@blipblop92 What do u mean and how? You can only test drive a few blocks here in NJ and NY area.
As a previous owner of this car (SX Prestige AWD), a meaningful mid cycle refresh for me with this car should be: hybrid powertrain, removable middle 2nd row seat just like the newest Honda Pilot even for the top trim.
Agree it should have a PHEV trim option but prefer middle captain chairs myself
My wife and I (very tall) were looking at 3 row SUVs recently and the VW Atlas really caught our eye for interior space. We're both very broad shouldered (can't fit side by side in most sedans) and we had almost as much space as we do in my Silverado. The reason for this was that the Atlas has a sort of curved B-piller which gives you an extra inch at the shoulder. With the Telluride (which she'd prefer due to the better warranty) I wonder if they have that same interior design.
How tall is your wife? I’m 5’11” and there’s quite a significant amount of room for me as the driver or passenger. I haven’t tried out the newest Atlas. It sounds like maybe Atlas gives you more cargo space. I also like the look and feel of driving the Telluride.
@@maxhr1749 i'm 6'6" and she is 6'1. We're both close to 2'5" shoulder to shoulder
Are all 2022 Tellurides recalled?
Hyundai is recalling 245,030 Palisades and Kia is recalling 36,417 Tellurides-all 2020-2022 models-due to a fire risk. Both automakers are also ordering a stop-sale on affected models, according to a NHTSA consumer alert.Aug 23, 2022
Great SUV. Handsome, modern and still maintains traditional buttons and proper shift for transmission. If you drive a lot, put on lots of mileage and intend to keep a vehicle long term this is the one to get. A non hybrid or PHEV version when it comes, is great on fuel economy but what do you do when you are close to the expiry of battery warranty? Can the warranty be extended? What is the resale value close to the warranty expiry? So I think this gas engine perhaps is the best to buy before it is gone. Buy it and keep it as long as you like. I know you can extend the warranty of the gas engine.
You make sense and this has more practical features than the Pilot. I’m considered about resale value down the road.
Absolutely nailed it on the long term use👍👍👍👍
Nice looking car. There are dealers in Alberta asking $75k for 2022 models with 2-3k kms on them (just look on AutoTrader). Carcost Canada does nothing to help this in 2022 :-)
Me and my wife have a 2022 telluride ex base in Canada and we also find the seats comfortable especially on long trips where as we wouldn't even consider taking the 2014 toyota rav4 base model we had on as long of trips as we do in our telluride.
As a former Borrego V8, and Sportage driver, my wife and I are now happy with our Niro, and Sorento V6. The Telluride is certainly amazing, but too pricy for me. Perhaps they'll consider a 2.5L hybrid, like Highlander.
Definitely amber made it " stands out from the crowd " kind off... it was a signature DRL
Just curious, why does the Teluride use a 3.8 litre V6, and the Carnival a 3.5 litre V6, with very similar power numbers as well an 8 speed transmission? Seems to me, it would make sense to use the same in both.
Great Review!! Thank you for explaining the trim levels.
Lots of great choices in this class. But this is still easily the best. They can't make them fast enough! I wish we got this in Korea.
Hi Motormouth! Thanks for the refreshed 23 Telluride-- Question: Aside from Lane change assist, how does Highway Driving Assist 2 differ from the prior HDA1 experience? Is it even more refined? Does it track the center of the lane even more accurately? Thanks again and looking forward to your observations!
Kia has improved their quality and to be honest,i really love their new lineup but also it got 2 issues:
1-rapid depreciation of vehicles.
2-The ridiculous price adjustments in the dealers, makes their price go up 8-10k on the value of the vehicle.
And all the recalls for fires and engine failures! Even the 2020 models were impacted.
Its really hard to topple Telluride's domination in this category. The interior truly able to compete with the best of the premium makes like Audi and Mercedes. Its interested to see how the new Pilot takes, as the previous car was a disappointment, even for a Honda fans like me. Especially when Honda keeps updating its 3.5 litre V6 instead of going for a turbocharged 4-cylinder, which usually a letdown in refinement, in such a heavy vehicle. That's the reason why I am interested to see how the refreshed Highlander drives, even if the 2.4T works perfectly in Lexus application. Only hope if Kia and Hyundai want to give Telluride/Palisade a hybrid option on next generation, give it a V6 hybrid instead of an in-line 4 variant.
I don't see H/K use a full hybrid system for the V6 engines. I can see them using a T/C I-4 for the hybrid (hopefully a 2.0L). If not, I can definitely see them use a mild hybrid to the N/A 3.5L V6 engine similar to Genesis G90.
@@hanskennedy3153 the plug in Sorento is disappointing. It doesn’t have full EV function and switches to the gas engine above a certain speed when in EV mode unlike the Rav4 Prime that you can floor it and still remain in full EV.
I doubt Honda would give a premium interior for pilot to avoid competing with Acura MDX
@@naveenthemachine agree, currently in a week long rental of a 2021 Highlander, small inside, can’t imagine with a turbo 4; yuck
Let’s be honest, the interior quality does not compete with Audi nor Mercedes. The Telluride is very good at it’s price point but actually sit in and drive an Audi or a Mercedes and the quality is simply different.
Love your review!
My aunt traded her 2020 Telluride SX Prestige with 163k miles for the 2023 Telluride X-Pro in the midnight lake blue color with black interior and I’ve found it very comfortable over her 2020 tho I don’t think it’s as comfortable as my 2022 Sorento SX Prestige
Oh great, thanks for sharing this!
Biggest issue i had with telluride was that all the top trim SX at the dealerships were marked up 12k or more. Second issue i had was with the rear seats. There was just something odd about the bottom seat comfort and it was just bad. Overall space was great.
12k? Dude, the top end SX trims cost more than 45k.
@@comicnerd1186 HE SAID, "marked up 12k or more." 45+12=57.
Read somewhere to just place it on order, The dealer will sell it at MSRP.
@@mastervic6230 Fully loaded SX prestige was around 50. They're now hitting 50k+ MSRP now
@@mastervic6230 I'm not sure if that is true either based some of the hot selling vehicles requiring far higher price. There was a dealership south that charges MSRP but vehicles on the list were getting sold even before getting delivered
I just went from a Telluride to a Pathfinder. I must say I like the styling of the Nissan better. The Pathfinder is also cheaper. Both cars feel very similar.
I use my 2022 telluride as a daily driver for construction work and let me tell you i can store all my tools in the back with the 2nd row still up with baby seats 🤤
Our f150 hybrid does that too and gets more mpg than telluride ;)
There are many maple trees in Korea, but the natural environment of Canada, the home of maple trees, is also beautiful.
I have the X-Line … interesting omission in the review I’d that it does have stage 1 (lower lumbar) and stage 2 (mid-lumbar) message driver-seating that can be set at 30 minute or 1-hr intervals. Absolutely amazing 😮 for the back on longer trips!!
Gr8 review as usual you guys!
Thank you so much, glad you liked it!
Thank you very much Kia for updating road queen
Thanks for calling out the 7 seater top trim thing. We have 6 kids but totally loved the night sky trim in the 2022. We would have totally paid for it but could only get the lower SX trim to get the 8 seats. Otherwise totally love our 2022.
PS I'm pro daytime amber lights!
Andrea I loved your outfits 🤩
Her wardrobe is more expensive than the Telluride !!!
Thank you so much!

They ruined the headlights. I wonder if you could order the 22 lights and swap them?
I can't wait for the comparison with the new palisade. I bet the new palisade makes a very strong case for itself this time round.
Yes the new Palisade is 🎯
We pick up the Palisade the week of November 21st, can't wait to drive it!
We just had a 2021 Kia Sorento and just got too small for us so we were looking at this and the new 2023 palisade calligraphy and this telluride is beautiful and if you like this more and get this it’s a great option but I went with the palisade calligraphy because it’s just so nice outside and inside but specially the inside you just can’t compare the two. It had a few more things and the seats are all so comfy and the way it drives is also so comfortable. Just amazing and we love it. Like I said thoo if you like the telluride better I can see that. It’s got a whole different vibe so you will be happy too and the new pilot is just not it. Your better off buying an old one for what you get
Did you have to pay a mark up on the MSRP?
@@bradmanmisera2689 no I didn’t. But I did drive to like 8 different places and had to negotiate a lot. The first couple places tried too just beat me over the head so just kept looking. Luckily I live in LA and there is a lot of dealers so kept looking but I did need to have the AWD and those are more limited here specially since weather here is good all the time they don’t send lots of AWD but was able to find a couple places who finally were more reasonable and eventually I used their offers to my advantage at other dealers and me and my family are super happy with it and love it and really everything about it. If you interested in it I truly recommend it even over the telluride unless you like the more sporty look but I take the palisade interior and exterior but specially the interior. The beige/navy is beautiful.
@@Jose_cab we were interested but with the marks ups here in Canada and very limited supply we ended up going with an Atlas.

Pilot? Good but not good enough and front of car looks CR-V
love how big the tailpipe is looks so cute
Those amber collars were like pocket protectors. There certainly are nerds out there who would love em.
Like always, another great review from you guys! You must be reading my mind: I was going to ask you if you could consider doing a review of the refreshed 2023 Palisade (preferably the Caligraphy trim). I’m certainly looking forward to your upcoming review of that vehicle soon.
Nobody wants to sit in the middle seat, hence the captain's chairs.
What an excellent and detailed review, thank you!
Without considering the price, would you pick the refreshed Telluride over MDX and or the New QX60?
Personally, QX60 is out of the game even with the outgoing model! With the refreshed Telluride you ve got more interior color choices and way more tech ! Telluride gives also the MDX though competition beside the driving dynamics. MDX does not even have a touchscreen....
@@leidtek9602 the telluride doesn’t even have a power folding mirror and they have more tech?
@@paulsantos6237 Telluride sure does have folding mirrors ! Palissade does not... Telluride has heated and ventilated rear seats, neither MDX and QX60 have it. Also the adaptive cruise control /lane assist (HDA2) in the Telluride is superior than the other 2 implementation. In short the Telluride punches above its class category.
Liked how they are getting away from the chrome exterior trim pieces on certain levels can't stand chrome. Wish they would tighten the interior gear shifter up it looks super dated being tall and skinny. Even the new Outlander has a much better looking shifter imo. Seats need to be ultra comfortable to compete these days I'm surprised they cheaped out in that department this go around. Was considering the PHEV Sorento but the interior colour options of navy blue (lol) and cream is a no go for me. At least give us an all black option right? I like the interior colour options for the Talluride better but I'm surprised they don't have a PHEV available yet.
Some very good nearly new prices of late !
2023 Honda Pilot next!
How is the ride quality/cabin noise? If I understand correctly, it doesn't come with dual pane glass windows (only the front windshield) for additional acoustic benefits.
TOTALLY agree with not offering bench seats on higher trims? Stupid not to offer!
Pricing in Canada is insane. Honda gets called out a lot here, but Kia just made a big mistake with their trims for Canada in my opinion. Going into a recession the base model Telluride is $50,000, while competition base models are
Pilot: $47.000
CX-9: $42,000
Atlas: $42,000
Ascent $41,000
Highlander: $46,000
Yes they may offer better screens and gadgets, but will have to see how this goes.
I feel it's a little more than better screens and gadgets, a heated steering wheel, power driver seat, sunroof, wireless charger and a power tailgate are pretty important to some and the Telluride comes standard with them all. The others don't come with all of these features. Plus pricing for the 2023 Pilot has not been announced yet, that is the starting price of the 2022 model. If it's anything like the new CR-V pricing, it will be much higher than this. From 2022 to 2023 the base AWD model of the CR-V went up over $3,300 CAD. If that happens with the Pilot, it will be higher than the Telluride and it won't come with all these features. The top trim in Canada of the Pilot is the only trim with a wireless charger and the base trim comes with a 7" touchscreen. People are definitely looking for more value these days.
@@andreaspencer9813 no doubt base telluride it’s better equipped than those other base models. But, a 8-10k difference is huge to a lot of families that need the space and would sacrifice some content to get it cheaper. Not sure why Kia wouldn’t leave a $45k model in the lineup. My prediction is their sales will drop due to this in 2023.
Not to mention the dismal resale value of a Kia/Hyundai. Who knows how well this engine will last past 5 years of use. If the 2012-2020 models are any indication, get ready for major recalls and engine replacements.
Nice review.
Between all the 4 SUVs you mentioned my choice will be still none of them but TellURide
Very nice vehicle but what shocked me was the trim levels that are available! I had to pause the video and count the number of trims available in the USA. 14!! Holy crap - that's unbelievable!! No need to stop the video for the CDN trims - only 5!!!

Great styling inside and out, i miss the old Oldsmobile and Buicks from my childhood where it was like sitting on a plush couch!
it is still a Hyundai/Kia
I wish the Telluride offered a bench as well… or something like the removable seat as in the RDX. :)
Captain chairs are fitted on the top trim because captain chairs are considered more luxurious than a bench seat. Same reason why there aren't captain chairs on the base trim.
It's not about what is more luxurious or not, it's about being able to take extra passengers
Nice review 👍🏽
Once again, Andrea matched her outfit to the exterior colors of the test vehicle. Nice thorough review, with details for both countries. 👍💯🤗
p.s. never, ever pay over m.s.r.p. for any vehicle. they are all depreciating assets.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the review!
I chose the Palisade . Made in Korea for the world market as opposed to Atlanta for the North American market . Hyundai used better materials with not as much hard plastic i and a few better features. I couldn't justify spending the extra dough on a gv80 actually
2:34 Horizontal?? 👀🥲
IMO the previous front end looks better. There's something about the fake-ish lower portion of the new grill that looks out of place. It looks like it doesn't match up, like it's a temp stick on or something. The previous design had more body color toward the lower part of the grill.
The markup several thousands above MSRP is what completely turns me off about trying to get this highly in demand SUV. I really want it but I’m not willing to pay that much markup over MSRP to get it.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the better audio/hvac area which are Separate here, vice the Sportage which has them sharing that area 🤔
I have two questions;
Does this car only come with captain seats? I don't like captain seats because they eliminate the space of third seat in the center.
Is this car also available in other countries?
You can get bench in the middle row.
@@waynearbour8109 How? Does the company provides it or do u have to get it done from aftermarket??
The bench seat is standard on the on the entry level model. The 22s only had 4 trim levels. The 23s have like 6 trims now. Unfortunately yoy give up a lot if you want a bench. Perhaps look at a Sorrento. And dont pay over sticker. I paid invoice and was able to get roof racks in the deal. 850.00 for nc. But it was like pulling teeth. I waited 10 months for my 22 Telluride.
I think exterior design that 2022 is better than 2023 but interior design that 2023 is better than 2022. Anyway I really love Kia Telluride.
2023 Kia Telluride va 2023 traverse or Tahoe? I can’t find any comparison videos
I felt the seats were noticeably uncomfortable the first time I drove the 2021 Telluride.
Loving the colors (inside & out) and of course the digital display. Wish, the hybrid 2023 Kia Sportage came in ghost gray too...
So the Nappa leather seats were hard/firm?
Ok, kudos to Kia for the design/ appearance of the vehicle (but ditch the horrid black wheels). The deal-breaking issue is that it’s a Kia! Run for your life.
Seems they finally ditched those god awful orange running lights they had around the headlight housing in previous years.
I must confess that I don’t really understand these screen size wars. Beyond a certain point is there really any improvement in functionality?
GO BIG OR GO HOME!!
@@jraheemjefcoat429 Er…okay.
where do you draw the line for the "certain point?" yes there is a huge improvement. remember that in the 80s and 90s most homes had TVs that are less than 20 inches in size.
@@fecesd5g Those are different things. I'm not watching a movie on my car's screen, hopefully...ha ha. I guess a bigger screen is useful if you have to do less scrolling and don't require a gazillion submenus. Dunno. Otherwise, I can't see why a 10 inch screen is any better than a 7 inch screen, at least functionally.
@@Druezer Ask a woman that question about size 10 inches vs 7 inches and get back with me.
We have a 2022 Telluride and really like it a lot. The seats are quite comfortable, but the front headrests, however, are not. They stick out too far forward and are not adjustable fore/aft/tilt. Is this the case with the 2023?
Does It need a premium gas?
I really hope it would have an EV version.
No it takes regular fuel
