@@camilapoveda4684 Exactly, the messages he left are no sign of anything more. Yes, he was a friend of mine and JB would do that from time to time as he knew people from all over so. Cal and NYC as his mother was often moving to find work in the area. It seems that true reflection is an anathema to some and people take the easy option to judge and evaluate his life and character of which they have no experience. Too many project in the comments section and confuse their response to their tragedy with someone completely different and made of a fabric that is rare.
Such a shame he passed, imagine the music he’d be making now! RIP
I was looking for something new about Jeff Buckley and you really helped out. I'm absolutely in love with his voice and fingerpicking that whenever I listen to songs like mojo pin or forget her I began to tear up. The absolute passion makes grace such a good album ( I'm not saying this is the only reason why but it sure is one reason) Thank you "heard it in a love song" you have made my night. Ps im really thankful somebody finally made a good documentary on Jeff other then " amazing grace"
There will never be another quite like Jeff Buckley. I really wanted to make sure I did my homework and make an alternate to all the other documentaries out there, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed this one.
He was like a sad angel, never truly breaking the chains of his past and sorrow. With that though was birthed some of the most ethereal masterpieces ever offered in music history. Never knowing my father and losing my mum at a young age I always drew so much inspiration from Jeff and clung to his music heavily for the first 6 years after my moms passing. Almost as if he did a mini concert for me every single day in my car or my room and I could feel every emotion emoting from my spirit and my mouth as I would sing this songs at the top of my lungs. As an older and somewhat wiser man now I survived those early years and rarely visit this music anymore because it reminds me of that sadness. But sometimes I just can’t resist revisiting from time to time.
Not really, he was a friend of mine and “sad Angel” he was not. That was a way to be vulnerable and allow people to relate to him. But, I wouldn’t confuse the challenges of your life with JB’s. We all respond to grief and loss differently. I am sorry for your loss.
I recall in 1997 seeing a small item in the newspaper reporting that Jeff Buckley had gone missing after wading fully clothed into the Mississippi. I knew who Jeff Buckley was as I knew who his father had been and was aware of his music. I was aware of "Grace" and the impact it had made but had yet to hear it. A few days later there was an equally small newspaper item reporting that his body had been found near Beale Street. Sadly, that began my introduction to the music of Jeff Buckley.
I absolutely loooooove how you lovingly shared details honoring Jeff Buckley. His voice and song writing is very difficult to describe. My hope is what you shared will open the door for many to remember Jeff's music forever.

The first quote about absentee fathers in Jeff's case is so tragic man Tim whether knowingly or unknowingly affected Jeff's self worth and maybe mental health for the rest of his life by leaving for his music career. Unfortunate situation all around
Absolutely. It breaks my heart and I don't go a day without thinking about Jeff and how much sorrow he had in his life. There will never be another Jeff Buckley.
What tripe! Jeff was a resilient type as I spent a large body of time with him. It is important to live beyond our stories and not let them define you “for the rest of (one’s) life.” No doubt, pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice. Jeff was a happy sort and his life and music were anything but “unfortunate.” Know of what you speak or just keep it to yourself and stop polluting the net with this misinformed malarkey.
Man every time i hear the name Michael Bolton i think of the movie Office space lol but Jeffs music is so amazing and deep theres times where im completely all Jeff but then some songs hit something inside, a feeling and its weird and so hard to describe. I graduated high school in 96 and Jeffs music took time to really get and now that im older hes definitely one of my favorite musicians ever, hes on another level. Great video thank you, RIP Jeff 🙏
The last album was to be titled simply My Sweetheart The Drunk...only after his death and subsequent compiling of unfinished songs was "Sketches for" added.
When it comes to Jeff, I can't help but to think... I miss him.

Thank you so much this doco....I was shedding tears in the end...some happy, some sad....Jeffs passing was the biggest loss for the music industry in the 90s....he wasn't as prolific as a songwriter like his dad, but he was the most influential and naturally gifted than his dad!!! There was a time in my life that I only listened to Jeff only, everything from his work, for over 2 years!! Even now I go back to Jeffs music for a stretch of time....the man may be gone, but not his music!! RIP my man!!

HearditinALoveSong your welcome - I was pondering on what Jeff said to Foti as he dived into the water “ The first one being fun” could he have been meaning the first album ? I know that the record execs were literally yelling at him saying “ Where’s the hit ??” And maybe the pressure just was too much .
I’ve always wondered if Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song” was a tribute to Jeff Buckley. While the band members haven’t directly confirmed or denied this, they have said they got inspiration from being at a museum (iirc). However, the song was originally called Egyptian Song, but was renamed to Pyramid Song, so maybe it’s just the song’s name that is the tribute?
(The song lyrics could be interpreted as describing Jeff’s death, and he did go missing near the “Memphis Pyramid” (which is now a Bass Pro Shop I believe))

@@HeardItInALoveSong Some of the band members actually went to a Jeff Buckley concert around 1994, when they were working on recording their 2nd album, “The Bends”. I believe it was Thom who said the song Fake Plastic Trees likely wouldn’t have made it onto the album if it wasn’t for Jeff - the song was more rock-driven, but the band didn’t really like how it sounded, and they were thinking about giving up on it. However, after seeing Jeff perform, they were inspired to make the song more acoustic-based. Apparently after recording this version, Thom cried in the studio because of how beautiful the song sounded

He truly accomplished so much in his very short. There will never be another artist, let alone human being, quite like Jeff Buckley
RIP Tim and Jeff Buckley(Scotty Moorhead) to those closest to him! I never asked to be your mountain is Tim's love letter to Jeff and his struggle with being chained down to suburbia or his wife that supposedly hatted his music...what a extremely haunting but beautiful song and Jeff's cover at st. Ann's church even more haunting...the lyrics are like an unintended eulogy from a birth poem by his father to a lyrical errie eulogy to himself ..listen to the lines about the water!...strangely Jeff often wrote these lyrical lines having to do with water in his songs and if you add up all these lyrics they almost paint a picture of his exact death like he knew or something , its so odd and has a spiritual horror element ..like he knew something or subconsciously these things were coming into existence to take him away ...how strange is all this? The death in Memphis birthplace of the Blues ,Robert Johnson,Graceland & grace church and Beale St. Just add to the erriness of it all
I learned about Jeff Buckley in 2001 through my love for the Band OURS the singer is my favorite singer and Jeff Buckley is too. There are many comparison about the singer of OURS Jimmy Gnecco and Jeff. They actually knew each other and Jimmy had once fixed Jeffs Guitar. Jimmys solo work features two beautiful songs about Jeff called "I heard you singing" and "Saint down the hall". Jimmy Gnecco is influenced by Jeff but has his own thing going on and is incredible in his own right. Check him out!
Funny story, I've actually seen Jimmy Gnecco live about ten years ago. He was opening for Lana Del Rey.

As a friend and colleague of JB, I can say he and his life was NOT tragic. His untimely accidental death does not define him, at all. This and a number of other falsehoods seems to have riddled your “reportage.” What is sad is westerners morbid tendency to celebrate real influencers (not the ones who self proclaim themselves as such with social media - JB was all that and more before laptops became so ubiquitous: he did it the hard way and toured the western world multiple times, a man of action and real work.) A certain inaccuracy is the fact that JB had assembled the “Grace Band” over two months ( not “weeks” which is misleading and one can say that a number of weeks makes for a year) before going to Bearsville in Woodstock, NY. It was tight timing, but JB knew what he wanted and was able to find it in time. Yes. His father died of accidental overdose, confusing smack for cocaine, but JB never had much of a relationship nor his undivided attention except for, as he put it, a “glimpse.” Had he not died, they most likely wouldn’t have gotten close as there was much resentment over his TB’s passivity and evasion of responsibility. “The missing father” theme is nothing new in many stratums of western culture and is sadly as common as the cold. Jeff was a happy sort of guy people gathered around and he had the “gift for the gab.” He also had a great deal with Columbia Records and was able to have creative control regarding audio recordings during the course of his life - that changed when he died and CR was able to release works he did not want revealed. That is just the reality of the “death clause” that is part of most every recording contract. He had a number of great relationships with women ( bar his final relationship with Joan in which she has proved to be opportunistic to boot) and he had a solid set of friends and many levels of intimacy with the people who were attracted to his personality and craft, among other components. What you have here is more misleading clickbait that does not do you nor certainly Jeff, my friend, any favors. Bloody presumptuous misguided muckraker you are. This is highly irresponsible, but, as always, what goes around comes around for you lot.
