    I recently bought a Hori RAP4 and replaced the stick and buttons with Sanwa parts and drunkenly bought a drone to dump the Hayabusa stuff into for a P2 stick. Ended up cancelling the order since I still have a Hori mini sitting around. Glad I'm seeing this video weeks later lol probably wouldn't have felt great opening up the drone only to find out the Hayabusa stick wouldn't even fit

    I got my Drone a few days ago... happy I made the right choice. I got rid of the ball top for a bat. Ordered some of the foam for buttons... I'll have to be gentle with the clips... but I'm actually thinking about just swapping in the Qanba Gravity system... I want to play while my wife sleeps haha.

      Glad you're happy with it. I've really enjoyed Qanba Gravity buttons, and the quiet down very well. Another great silent button is the Punk Workshop buttons with "pink box" switches. They're some of the quietest I've ever used and still feel great. They're a bit more difficult to get ahold of, or at least time consuming. You can usually find them on eBay. I believe SinoArcade is the main retailer

    I'm gonna venture a guess and say those buttons are exacerbated due to the lack of a metal sheet or thicker top plastic. Acoustically, the steel sheets, acrylic plates and plastic laminates pull a lot of weight.
    The laminates on steel are especially good, multiple materials provide good dampening.

    So, I know the ls-32-01 and ls-40-01 didn't fit, but those joysticks also have non-pcb versions without the "01" that are narrower as they don't have the pcb surrounding the microswitches. From what I can tell, your issue is that the pcb which surrounds the microswitches was getting in the way, which is the same issue I had trying to fit a ls-32 into an American enclosure as the pcb got in the way of the screws. The ls-32 without the pcb fit however. The non-pcb versions should be wired in the same way a short collar korean joystick is wired, and I do believe in any enclosure most short collars fit, the non-01 large LSs should fit. That being said, I don't own a drone so I can't test it myself.

    I am getting my first stick tomorrow... The 8bitdo stick, that said I want to use gamerfinger buttons because A) I don't like how most buttons sound from the videos I watched and B) I have a bunch of different mechanical key switches lying around and would love to try all the various options in the gamerfinger buttons. My question is can I get screw in for 8bitdo and does khail choc work in gamerfinger?

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад +1

      The 8BitDo is a great place to start. And Gamerfinger buttons are top notch. They're pricy, but they are the best quiet buttons; hands down.
      1. Screw ins won't fit the 8BitDo without some heavy modding. I have another video about doing custom button lighting where I install screw ins, and you can see the kind of cutting I had to do inside to make it work.
      2. I assume you mean the v2 Khail choc's (the ones with the plus shaped stem)? They should fit, but the plunger will probably sit weirdly low.

      As for a Korean lever in the 8Bit, I don't think so. Not without removing the metal plates on the bottom, at least. Which would probably make it weirdly light. I tested it before and there was just a hair too little space.

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад +1

      Because the Drone mounts it's lever on stands right under the top plate, everything is going to sit a bit high on it.

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад +1

      Okay. I'm trying to understand but I'm not sure how the height of the lever would stop diagonals from coming out. Diagonals don't need to go any further than cardinals, or at least they shouldn't.
      Happy to help troubleshoot though:
      - Try opening that hole on the bottom and watching the actuator hit the switches. If you can see both switches depressed in a diagonal position, your issue is electrical. Either a switch is defective, or a pin isn't plugged in all the way. Make sure all the connectors on the pins are snug, they shouldn't wiggle or pull off easily.
      - Also double check the connection from the joystick wires to the board.
      - If both switches aren't being engaged in a diagonal position, can you tell what's blocking them? Is it the hole for the lever? Is there something in the case interfering with the actuator like a wire?

    Do many competition gamers use happ sticks? I ask because I greatly prefer happ to sanwa.

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  Год назад +1

      Not that I'm aware of. I think there's a variety of reasons for it. Good Happ style parts can be difficult to source. And there are no off the shelf options for an arcade stick like there are for Japanese or Korean levers. So you have to do a custom build, and not many companies make cases for them.
      There's also a generational aspect to it. They're very tied to the arcade scene of the 80s and 90s. So people who didn't experience that are going to be unfamiliar with them.
      The main pro level player I'm aware of who used Happ parts was Justin Wong during the height of his MVC 1&2 career. But he eventually switched for the reasons above. Parts were too scarce at the time, and the case he had to lug around to tournaments was really clunky.

    The Qanba Drone is compatible with Crown CWL-309MJ-KMS-ST35?

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад +1

      Not without modification. You would need to drill the lever hole out to 35mm. Because of how low the top of the stick sits. Even a half collar stick like the 309MJ needs it.
      You'd also need to bend the micro switch pins to fit around the stands.

    • @Hops_fgc
      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад +1

      Yes! The 309FJ would fit without the need to modify the case. You'll still have to bend pins, but that's a very minor thing.
      One thing to note. The MJ and FJ usually come with different tension grommets. The MJ usually comes with a soft 25, while the FJ usually comes with a medium tension 35. If you're coming from Japanese levers though, the 35 may feel very stiff. May be worth ordering a 25 Crown grommet if you think that may be the case.

      Qanba doesn't officially claim support though.
      I can only speculate on why they don't. If I had to:
      - there are edge cases that prevent it from getting the Sony stamp of approval, like not working with games people won't use it for anyway.

      The shaft in the QB-J-OV1 is nearly identical to what comes in the Sanwa JLF. I believe the only differences are the JLF shaft is a bit lighter, and about millimeter thicker on the bottom half. It fits, just needs extra force to go through the spring base.
      So, anything that would work on a Sanwa JLF will work in it. The main option is the PhreakMod Link: arcadeshock.com/products/phreakmods-the-link-ex-groove-edition?_pos=3&_sid=0141780bf&_ss=r
      It should fit through the spring base with a little extra force, but if it won't get a spare from a JLF like this one:

      @Hops_fgc  2 года назад

      Yes, but with some caveats. The Drone will work on the PS5 through it's PS4 controller compatibility. But PS4 controllers can only be used to play PS4 games.
      So if this is right choice will depend on the games he's playing. If he's playing more PS4 era games like Street Fighter 5 or Tekken 7, this should have him covered until sequels start coming out over the next year or two.
      At that point, I expect we'll have converters for PS4 to PS5. Brook is a consistently reputable brand for this. Here's an example of their current Switch/XBox/PS3 to PS4 converter: www.amazon.com/Brook-Wingman-Support-Controller-Converter/dp/B08B82M9TG/ref=sr_1_4
      If you want a fully PS5 native arcade stick Hori's "Fighting Stick Alpha" is one of the few available right now: www.amazon.com/HORI-PlayStation-Fighting-Stick-Alpha-5/dp/B09RQV4786
      Hope the info dump wasn't too much, PS5 compatibility is messy right now.
