thank bro I buy one Qanba Drone in 38 dollars (used) and buy sanwa stick cost 30 dollars more bottons 25 dollars and now have full sanwa stick for 85 dollars and new component
Nice tutorial as always JoyStickNY. When I did my Sanwa swap I actually opted to use the quanba switches and qanba wiring harness on the Sanwa JLF since my Sanwa switch board was pretty old and in need of a replacement. It is kind of a pain to get the switches to sit on the Sanwa mount and get the gate on without one of the switches moving out of place, but once it's all set with the gate on it works very well!
Thank you so much for making this video! Sanwa feels so much better. I probably would've had to take it apart and put back together 5 times if it weren't for you. I love your videos. Such good quality, and you make everything very clear.
hello just wanna ask are sanwa buttons kind of loose in their button holes? and do they really feel better I bought some recently and they're kinda loose I haven't used them yet but they seem less... tighter? than my old qanba buttons
This video really helped me with choosin' my first stick without payin' hundreds of dollars for one of those high end ones. Wasn't plannin' on switchin' out the stick so early but was glad to know it was so easy to do. Snagged one of these off amazon but the stick felt really... stiff? I guess is the word? picked up a Sanwa replacement and a bat top instead of the ball and plopped 'em in today and omg it feels SO freakin' nice... kinda wantin' to do the buttons next to swap out the all black stock ones. So thanks for makin' a really easy to understand video for a joystick nub like myself =)
hopping to get this as a starting fight stick for ggstrive, and im glad to know its easy to mod the stick (the square gate on the base one is the only thing i was worried about)
@@JoystickNY it's a lot smaller than I originally thought it would be, i'm 6'6 is there any bigger stick you would recommend that is modable, I already bought sanwa parts and plan to use the qanba body in the mean time.

I just finished a full mod with a Sanwa JLF joystick and Sanwa buttons. Why can't all joysticks be this easy to mod??? I should've had this stick a long time ago. Great video bro!!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿
Watching your channel (currently using a keyboard) made me get interested into getting a stick. These videos are really helpful so I can make an informed decision to get my first fightstick. Thank you so much!
It took me forever to remove the ball top off of my Qanba Q4 RAF with the flat head screwdriver as the threads were basically stuck together and the buttons were just as hard to get out. I couldn't remove the quick release from the buttons and I couldn't do it with the flat head screwdriver but I managed to use a pair of pliers to wriggle them out with some force. After I remove the parts and put it back together since I just wanted to see if I can remove them, I find it easier to remove the connections as I see fit. I think it's the age of the parts as I got the stick used. Luckily I don't really need to mod the stick as it already has Sanwa parts and connects to PC out of the box. I do intend to change the artwork when I get the chance.
rxzero00 you can also loosen up or widen the metal connection, its must metal and its designed to be bent. That way in the future you can just use your hands to unplug them 🙏 thank you for watching

Kinda bummed I can’t put a hayabusa lever on this thing, but other than that I gotta say that this fight stick looks super modder friendly and modular. Especially the power cable, which is something the tes+ madcatz is a pain in the ass to replace since you have to solder it yourself. And that cable housing is super great since most cable housings on other budget sticks with the doors, are prone to breaking. This thing looks pretty well made, I’ll definitely pick one up.
Lol I want to get these sticks soo bad but I live in india a stick here costs literally 70000 rupees which is about a 1000 dollars but amazing content bro good job...😀😀😀💙
thanks for this, it worked. however i stupidly broke the final screw and it broke inside of the thing. so ill have to figure out how to remove it when i decide to go full sanwa parts.
Now that the Qanba Drone is going for the same price as the F500, what would you recommend? I don't like that you need a ps4 controller to connect to a ps4, but you can get a usb dongle that makes it standalone.
S Rhom i think the f500 would be a better deal in terms of value, because u get a bigger and heavier body and its multi console, but i think i would personally go for the qanba drone becuz i dont like to connect controller part too. Both of them are similar in terms of function and parts, go with which ever design you like better . Or wait for a sale
Loved the video Do you or anyone knows if the shaft cover and dustwasher that comes with the drone stick can be use with the sanwa JLF? So I don't need to order those plastics? Thanks in advance
I also have another question is the seimitsu stick the most precise stick because in your comparison video you said that it was best at diagonals and im still a bit confused which category the stick would fall in
Da_Masterdude Lol technically it is the most precise in terms of how hard you press, becuz of the metal, every little pressure you push will show, where as other switches are simple just press or not pressed, thats why seitmitsu is more accurate in that catergory. But in fighting game, that pressure doesnt really matter becuz there is no input that has partial press or half press, if you know what i mean, generally speaking, they all work great, if you arw unsure, go with sanwa . You cant go wrong with it 🕹😊
My only advice to someone wanting an arcade stick is to save a bit and get a good one, or buy an enclosure and put it together yourself, its pretty simple with very little knowledge required and will be future proof and easy to work on, if you buy something good quality once you don't have to keep buying slightly better sticks.
How timely this video is... i just bought a Qanba drone after being convinced by your other video 😉. So far Im ok with the stock lever, would Sanwa be any good?
Joseph Olvina the stock lever is actually not bad, it is better than a lot of entry level sticks, i would get comfortable with it and master it first, learn everything about it, once you think you are ready for the next step, then make the move 🙏😊 thank you for watching
honestly you should mod the buttons to sanwa, noticeably difference in quality. Drone buttons feel cheap and hollow. Have same opinion on the drone joystick, joystick lever is little more difficult to mod, need special 5pin harness or cut the wire on drone and place sanwa color cable together certain pattern.
Well it depends on how sensitive do you like when it comes to button presses. Sanwa buttons are really sensitive as just a tiny touch can trigger the buttons. Sanwa levers are also really lose out of the box to me. You can fix that with a heavier spring or a tighter stick like those from Seimitsu. I like Seimitsu buttons because you need a little more force. If you like mechanical keyboards, then maybe Gamefinger buttons or Crown buttons as they use mechanical switches. I think the modern Hayabusa buttons from Hori are close to Sanwa but with a matte finish instead of the typical glossy finish. Also to consider is your budget really. Qanba buttons are close to Sanwa. For my Qanba Q1W I just use Seimitsu buttons and a Seimitsu LS-32 stick but I just use it for 3D fighters like Tekken and Virtua Fighter, other arcade games, shoot em ups, and Touhou Project games. My other Qanba Q4 RAF, I have it already stocked with Sanwa parts so I just use it for other fighters when I don't feel like using a game pad controller.
awesome video, any chances to do a mod on this stick with the brook universal fighting board? I can't seem to find a good place to put the board in it, at least not without modding the entire box, love your videos :)
do you have to have the metal part of the wire connected all the way down on the metal part of the button? On my hori rap n, the metal part that you pull up is really stuck on there so when i reconnected it, I connected it back just a little past halfway so next time it isn't so hard to take out. Will this cause any issues if, as of right now, the buttons seems to work perfectly?
the elusive meme you can actually adjust that metal part with a plier, you can loosen it up and then plug it in and clamp it tight, its soft metal meant to be bent.
@@JoystickNY i dont have a problem putting the metal part on, its more the taking it off the button part that is hard. I use pliers to lift it up a little than I just pull it out. But i was wondering if its okay to not have that metal part all the way down so i wouldn't have to use pliers next time.
the elusive meme if it works, then you dont have to worry, i think some of mines are sometimes half way too, as long as its tight enough so it doesn’t come loose.
Awesome video, and keep up the great work! I'm looking to buy my first stick, and this looks like a nice option. There are a few used Madcatz TE2 sticks for sale in my area (SF4 "rivals" and a SF5 Chun-Li). Both are in "like new" condition, and are about the same price (maybe even cheaper) as a Quanba Drone + upgraded parts. Would you recommend the TE2s over the modded Drone? Thanks for your help!
Thanks for continuing to run this channel! Been curious for awhile and finally picked up a drone this week. First ever stick, but the lever itself feels a little loose. Is the Sanwa tighter or similar?
JoyStickNY oh, I didn’t know that.. I live in the philippines which is quite close to japan and they sell it here.. I just can’t find a decent review for it. Thanks for replyin tho :) Keep safe!!
You can fit a korean lever only if its design for japanese sticks, with a short collar, and officially u cant just drop it in the drone; u will have to bend the connectors i will have a video on it this month on the drone and other entry lvl sticks 👍🕹
Hi JoyStickNY, i just bought my qanba drone, button is ok, dont mind that much but dont like the accuracy of the joystick at all. im kinda sad now. Im an old school arcade gamer, i want the joystick to be as close as old arcade machine joystick possible, any advice?? i think seimtsu joystick will be the closest to old arcade machine joystick. if it is, then which model seimtsu joystick should i buy for my qanba drone? link would be fantastic. thanks
Mamun Hossain i been playing in the arcade since 2000, the parts that was in the usa arcades were happ part. They were circular gate and they feel tighter. The qanba drone lever and button is actually better than what was it the arcades, i think maybe you have to give it some time, Japanese parts are more loose, but loose doesnt make it less accurate, if you prefer a tigher feel, you can change the spring on the lever to a heavier spring or change to happ. But i dont recommend happ. Qanba is very close to sanwa, try to give it more time. Let me know in the future, if you really dont like it, i ll give you some links to seitmitsus
@@JoystickNY thanks for your quick reply. Sorry for the confusion, Im from sydney and here we use Japanese arcade machine with japanese ball lever, not happ part, at least in my time (around 20 years ago), so i think im used to with loose lever i guess. i also watched your video "Sanwa vs Hayabusa Vs Seimitsu Review Detail Comparison 2019 HD". and i think i will like the seimitsu lever than sanwa and my current one comes with qanba drone. will buy both sanwa and seimitsu lever and decide myself what i like as you advised on the video. all i need is the right seimitsu lever link to buy for my qanba drone. thanks for your time
Really love the channel. Resources are super helpful. Any chance you know if the Sanwa Screw Buttons work with the Drone? And do you have a preference on screw-in or click-in buttons?
I havent tried screw in buttons yet, if u want, msg me on instagram; that way i can remember to check for you. I always prefer snap in, i find it easier❤️🙏
jose melchor yes, its the same, but is easier, you dont need the 5 pin cable, the obsidian has a cable inside, you can just plug straight into the sanwa JLF joystick lever ❤️🙏
Aries Austria great question, from what i seen, No, majority of sticks uses sanwa, hori uses their own hayabusa, and other cheaper sticks uses unbranded parts.
For a lever, I recommend a sanwa JLF. For the buttons, I recommend hayabusa buttons. For the top, I recommend a bat-top. For Pac-Man and shoot'em ups, I recommend a four-way restrictor plate. And for fighting games and beat'em ups, I recommend an eight-way restrictor plate, so you can perform quarter-circle movements a lot more easier.
@@JoystickNY what's the level of effort to also do the 8 way restricter & bat-top on Qanba drone as well - on top of the buttons and joystick? And I know it's off topic, what about those two mods on the Hori rap 4 Kai? (That's the one I went with, but I still have a return window on it) Update: I watched your video here and know how to do the bat top swap now: ruclips.net/video/XScf7hN0HWA/видео.html Still interested in octagon restricter
Changing the octagon gate and bat top takes 5-10 mins, should be fairly easy; basically it clicks off and clicks on and screw the bat top on and off, definitely try it and see how you like it 👍🕹
Since I'm new with Arcade stick, what's the benefit of changing the buttons to sanwa? Will it be hard to play on my Qanba drone with its normal buttons? Thanks for your time 🙏
Just wondering if this stick will work on a Raspberry Pi or Nvidia shield? Looking to use it mostly as an arcade stick for those two devices for retro games. Being able to use it on a PS3/PS4 is just a bonus for me. Maybe the Qanba Carbon would be better for those?
Not sure about the specifics but would it be possible to use a silent sanwa stick and use the same instructions here? Also would it still fit, not sure if there's a size difference or not.

I agree, thank you for watching, i love this stick 🕹👍
Awesome content as always!! Can you also make a moding video for the hayabusa rap n? 😅😅
Ryan Imperial thank you, yes, let me add that to my list 🙏❤️🕹
Good video but question upgrading to a sanwa joystick and buttons will it make a difference and if so how ok thank you for your time.
Lol I want to get these sticks soo bad but I live in india a stick here costs literally 70000 rupees which is about a 1000 dollars but amazing content bro good job...😀😀😀💙
Dang...Thats crazyy, thats the price of a phone, computer and 2 ps5
@@JoystickNY yess thats why i cant purchase ill purchase it from dubai i think its cheap there....
JoyStickNY has the most efficient/concise Arcade Stick modding tutorials on YT.
Thank you for the kind words, happy to help the community ❤️🙏
thanks for this, it worked. however i stupidly broke the final screw and it broke inside of the thing. so ill have to figure out how to remove it when i decide to go full sanwa parts.
Use a small drill, mostly u have to lightly drill out the stuck piece. Be very careful not to damage the surrounding.
Or wait for a sale
bro keep it up!
edison baylon thank you brother 🙏❤️
Tô comprando um agora. Mais pra frente talvez eu faça esse upgrade. Muito bom mesmo. vlws
Aproveite, obrigado por assostir ❤️
gracias amigo, saludes desde honduras
Gracias my friend ❤️🙏
Loved the video
Do you or anyone knows if the shaft cover and dustwasher that comes with the drone stick can be use with the sanwa JLF? So I don't need to order those plastics?
Thanks in advance
Yes it does come with a dust washer
I also have another question
is the seimitsu stick the most precise stick because in your comparison video you said that it was best at diagonals and im still a bit confused which category the stick would fall in
Da_Masterdude Lol technically it is the most precise in terms of how hard you press, becuz of the metal, every little pressure you push will show, where as other switches are simple just press or not pressed, thats why seitmitsu is more accurate in that catergory.
Very true 👍🕹 thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
John N thank you for dropping by 🙏❤️
Well it depends on how sensitive do you like when it comes to button presses. My other Qanba Q4 RAF, I have it already stocked with Sanwa parts so I just use it for other fighters when I don't feel like using a game pad controller.
rxzero00 thank you for sharing ❤️👍🕹
awesome video, any chances to do a mod on this stick with the brook universal fighting board? I can't seem to find a good place to put the board in it, at least not without modding the entire box, love your videos :)
I do have a similar video down the road; still quite some video on the list. Thank you for the suggestion
do you have to have the metal part of the wire connected all the way down on the metal part of the button?
@@JoystickNY okay thanks for the input
Awesome video, and keep up the great work! I'm looking to buy my first stick, and this looks like a nice option.
There are a few used Madcatz TE2 sticks for sale in my area (SF4 "rivals" and a SF5 Chun-Li). Both are in "like new" condition, and are about the same price (maybe even cheaper) as a Quanba Drone + upgraded parts. Would you recommend the TE2s over the modded Drone? Thanks for your help!
Yup, if you can get a te stick cheaper than the qanba drone, it would be a more comfortable stick long term. ❤️🙏 thank you
@@JoystickNY awesome! Thanks very much for your help! 😊
Great video ! Thanks!
Do you know if seimitsu Buttons works? And what dimensions ? Sorry i’m a beginner 😅
Seimtsu buttons should work, the lever will not fit
Do I still need the adapter for a korean lever in addition to the jst conversion cable? (I need to install a crown 309mj)
Thanks for continuing to run this channel! Been curious for awhile and finally picked up a drone this week. First ever stick, but the lever itself feels a little loose. Is the Sanwa tighter or similar?
Sanwa its abit more steady, but also similar, it feels just right for me, give it a try after u have more practice 😊
Please review the Hori 129a :) I haven't found any decent reviews of that one
Louie Supan i believe that is a Japanese region only stick, it is not sold in the usa, i would love to pick 1 up if i see one on sale ❤️🙏
JoyStickNY oh, I didn’t know that.. I live in the philippines which is quite close to japan and they sell it here.. I just can’t find a decent review for it. Thanks for replyin tho :) Keep safe!!
Louie Supan how much is it in your country?
@@JoystickNY it's $90 USD
Louie Supan ok, that a reasonable thank you 👍
Good tip on the seimetsu lever, do you know if the drone can fit the etokki taeyoung fanta stick or is the clearance too slim?
You can fit a korean lever only if its design for japanese sticks, with a short collar, and officially u cant just drop it in the drone; u will have to bend the connectors i will have a video on it this month on the drone and other entry lvl sticks 👍🕹
What does upgrading the buttons to sanwa change from the normal buttons?
If one were to replace the USB cable for the drone. What is the name of the USB cable?
David arcade shocks sells a cable here is the link arcadeshock.com/products/qanba-usb-cable-for-dragon-arcade-stick
Hi Which do you prefer with or without shaft cover?
Do you agree that we can move the pcb and all cables to other case? How you know is imposible get some arts on this one But i was thought that opción
The art looks spray painted or hard glue on to the plastic, its possible to add your art, but you will have to print your own vinyl ❤️🙏
Sorry for the confusion, Im from sydney and here we use Japanese arcade machine with japanese ball lever, not happ part, at least in my time (around 20 years ago), so i think im used to with loose lever i guess. i also watched your video "Sanwa vs Hayabusa Vs Seimitsu Review Detail Comparison 2019 HD". and i think i will like the seimitsu lever than sanwa and my current one comes with qanba drone. will buy both sanwa and seimitsu lever and decide myself what i like as you advised on the video. all i need is the right seimitsu lever link to buy for my qanba drone. thanks for your time
Mamun Hossain the seimitsu lever i have doesnt fit the qanba drone, there is not enough room
The Sanwa lever that you have in the description is the real deal? Some review doesn't seem to agree.
Get it from focus attack, paradise arcade shop, and arcade shock, just incase
The way you modded this drone would it be the same for an obsidian? Or it a different way to mod the obsidian?
jose melchor yes, its the same, but is easier, you dont need the 5 pin cable, the obsidian has a cable inside, you can just plug straight into the sanwa JLF joystick lever ❤️🙏
JoyStickNY thanks for the help! 👍
What Octagonal restrictor can I use for my default qanba drone?
Good Video. Curious why you needed a new wire harness? Would the one that came stock not work? It looks like it is a 5 wire also?
The original would work; but it takes alot of work, where as the new 1 is just plug and play
@@JoystickNY Gotcha, thanks. Very helpful video and information, especially to someone like me who is new to fight sticks.
Are there fight sticks that use the Seimitsu lever? Just curious?
Aries Austria great question, from what i seen, No, majority of sticks uses sanwa, hori uses their own hayabusa, and other cheaper sticks uses unbranded parts.
For a lever, I recommend a sanwa JLF. For the buttons, I recommend hayabusa buttons. For the top, I recommend a bat-top. For Pac-Man and shoot'em ups, I recommend a four-way restrictor plate. And for fighting games and beat'em ups, I recommend an eight-way restrictor plate, so you can perform quarter-circle movements a lot more easier.
Dustin Nunn thank you for sharing 🙏
how can i make qanba drone a eight way restrictor plate ???
Mamun Hossain you can buy a sanwa octagon gate off amazon, ebay, focus attack website or arcade shock website
@@JoystickNY what's the level of effort to also do the 8 way restricter & bat-top on Qanba drone as well - on top of the buttons and joystick? And I know it's off topic, what about those two mods on the Hori rap 4 Kai? (That's the one I went with, but I still have a return window on it)
Update: I watched your video here and know how to do the bat top swap now: ruclips.net/video/XScf7hN0HWA/видео.html
Still interested in octagon restricter
Changing the octagon gate and bat top takes 5-10 mins, should be fairly easy; basically it clicks off and clicks on and screw the bat top on and off, definitely try it and see how you like it 👍🕹
Since I'm new with Arcade stick, what's the benefit of changing the buttons to sanwa? Will it be hard to play on my Qanba drone with its normal buttons? Thanks for your time 🙏
The benefit is , it feels abit more responsive and more smooth; possibly the switches in the button and spring is more well made
I'm asking sir, that joystick is it compatible for android phone.
No, only ps4, ps3 and pc 🕹❤️🙏
@@JoystickNY thank you
Why is my qanba is hard to open even after removing the six screws?
Might be glue somewhere, double check and dont use force
@@JoystickNY it’s really stuck together. I’m scared to use force
I am not sure about rasp and nvid sheild, i only play xbox, playstation, pc 🙏❤️
Not sure about the specifics but would it be possible to use a silent sanwa stick and use the same instructions here? Also would it still fit, not sure if there's a size difference or not.
Yes, they are the same specs, u can use silent once
how can you speedup the turbo mode of the QANBA DRONE 1 ?
I'm looking for my first arcade stick. Is this a good choice for casual gaming?
Yes, its one of the best and popular entry level arcade sticks right now, cant go wrong with it, and u can upgrade it in the future if you want to
sadly those 5 pin adapters sold out on amazon i hope focus attack doesnt take long to ship
They usually restock pretty quick, use the stock buttons for now, they should get the job for now 🙏❤️
Or are there any other arcade buttons that you can use for this one witch one do you recommend? Or are these the best ones to use ?
You can suzo happ, sanwa, hayabusa, korean crown buttons, seimitsu buttons and more, majority of people uses sanwa, i personally use hori hayabusa
Bro Thanks a lot !!
Thank you
