Otis is such a legend. I miss voices like this, voices born and cultivated by the black gospel church. You don’t hear this any more.

And I'll add those are Stax musicians. Stax was an amazing Memphis based soul label that had beast musicians to back up their acts.

Give a listen to Otis' live performance from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival of his other really big hit "I've Been Loving You Too Long" which is one of his greatest live performances.

Wow, he could work a crowd!!!!! Amazing!!!!! What a top talent he was.
You have the same deep, resonant voice. If you can carry a tune, go for it! If not, the shower will do.😂😂😂 🚿 🛁

Yes, this is the sample used on Otis. Came across this a year ago & loved it! I love going back to original songs once I hear a sample. I remember hearing his music in my house growing up. Love his voice 🔥🔥🔥Thanks Jack ❤ Glad you enjoyed it! 🎉

I'll echo watching his live performance of "I've Been Loving You Too Long" at Monterey Pop as well. Blows away the album version. Iconic performance. Otis was on another level in the months before his death.

Chris Brown also did this song in the movie This Christmas. It was also great.

Great reaction, I’d love for you to react to a singer from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 called
    Paolo Nutini
It’s a live performance of one of his songs and I think you’ll agree that his style of singing is very much like Otis Reading, even though he’s a young white guy his style and voice are like from a bygone era.
You will not be disappointed as he is 💯🔥🔥🔥
Paolo Nutini- ‘No Other Way’ live at the Leon Loft
    Cheers from 🇬🇧
