@@ekids.bassment So you feel that a man getting his underage daughter hooked on meth so she would have sex with him *is* her fault? Or are you just that cynical that you belive a police officer would think that?
Oh yeah and i love when they gave her 9 years in prison. Lmao. She got totally screwed by every single person in her life just to be punished for it. She doesn't belong in prison, she belongs in therapy and a chance to finally have some autonomy about what happens to her in her life. Like somebody gets killed while trying to ra** her and just because she didn't tell the police she gets 9 years, but the grandfather also knowing about everything only gets 5 years probation. Its sickening.
This brought me to tears. Looking up Melody Dixon’s name and finding nothing about the heinous abuse she endured, but the crime she was an ‘accomplice’ to, made me sick.
Most serial killers had a rough childhood. There's no excuse. There's a lot of people that have horrible parents, and they're doing great in life. In the end, we're all bad trying our best to be "good." That's why Jesus Christ died for all of us.
Two dirty old men fighting over an extremely damaged, confused young girl, they have trapped by addiction and isolation. And not one single person, including Jim’s DAUGHTERS, said diddly squat to anyone who could intervene. SHAME on every single one of them. SHAME! SHAME!
The saddest part was when Melody described being raped by other men and thinking what her father did wasn’t rape because he stopped when she said so. So sad. So very sad.
@sashmo8, this has to be one of the most insane cases I've seen.... I honestly couldn't believe no one opted to have an Attorney present during questioning. John was the only one to at least plead the fifth on that one question. Btw, that's a beautiful kitty in your profile picture. ^_^🐈⬛♥ @karenc4354, I believe if Melody had an Attorney present she would be receiving mental health treatment instead of a prison term.... @roybolder9480 , YOU clearly know NOTHING about the Whitaker family, & should be ashamed of yourself, lack of care, compassion, empathy, & total disregard for humanity as a whole-Which is so transparently evident in making any comparison between them, & these EVIL, drug afflicted, mentally deranged criminals. The story of the Whitakers is beyond sad. They’re the direct result, & a prime example of the sins of their parents ( who were brother & sister, & the ongoing practice of incest among siblings in the most destitute area in the US.) The Whitakers aren’t criminals, but the complete opposite, as they take care of each other as family members living in a tiny cabin w/ only 1 small sectioned off bedroom for the sister, while the 2 male siblings & 1 male cousin sleep in the living room portion of this open floor plan that can’t be larger than 800 square feet at most. One of the males sadly passed some years back, resulting from a health issue directly related to his genetic predisposition, & the lack of available healthcare for those who reside in this enormous area of the US. He was buried on their 1.66 acres of land-I don’t even think that’s legal anymore, but they had no other option. The same is true of MANY STATES in the US, however, this area is akin to that of a 3rd world country! People are so foolishly tricked into believing all these govt funded resources of assistance exist for the millions who so desperately need them, ( ALSO MISTAKENLY believing it comes from their tax dollars, which it DOESN’T!) but it’s untrue, & more mainstream Americans are beginning to wake to this reality! They reside in an extremely remote area of the Appalachian Mountains ( Odd, West Virginia). The Whitaker family are a prime example of a completely impoverished Appalachian family w/ a host of health issues, genetic disorders, the lowest of the low IQ levels, 1 completely lacking the ability of speech aside from attempting to grumble a handful of words, which were mostly his family member’s names. They’re all completely disabled, have multiple health & genetic issues, are the direct result of their parent’s sibling incest practices, & aren’t to blame for their lives & life situations-They are VICTIMS who resulted from parents who were born of the same complete lack of education & knowledge. These people never attended school, nor were home schooled. These options were not available to them, & if they were, all generations suffered from & lived w/ similar genetic & health issues, in addition to the inability to teach & learn anything beyond attempting to provide their most basic living needs. Fortunately, none followed in their ancestral footsteps, & never attempted to bring children into the world, by means of incest or legally. It sounds horrible to say such a thing, however, it’s the most responsible thing they didn’t pursue. Thanks be to the man who sought them out, despite being warned not to b/c they’re alleged to be dangerous, which they’re not. This sparked a GoFundMe campaign for this family who SO DESPERATELY needed it! Millions of dollars weren’t raised, which they deserve, as they can’t function properly in society & are the victim offspring of their parents. Enough was raised for them to be able to purchase a vehicle, make repairs & improvements to their cabin ( nothing extravagant, but helpful to an extent), & to be able to buy food & some additional basic needs & essential items for living. They need & deserve further financial & healthcare assistance, & someone responsible to be assigned as an advocate & by profession, to handle their financial needs & affairs who wouldn’t illegally take advantage of such a situation. Roybolder, you really should do more research before spreading false similarities, & making such comparisons to the misfortunate Whitaker family, who are decent, despite their many challenges & obstacles they were born w/ & into, to these MONSTERS in this video. Scary & disgusting to say these malevolent creatures having a higher IQ level than the sum of the entire Whitaker family, yet this generation of Whitakers never chose to commit crimes & the most evil acts. Clearly the more “simple minded”, who never asked to be born this way, were created w/ the level of innocence & inability to commit evils these horrific others did, & the creator instilled the lack of knowledge & desire to continue to propagate their family tree, & their sufferings & misfortunes will end w/ this generation. In the future, should really think about all of this prior to posting such a comment of such ignorance, & shaming this innocent generation of Whitakers, &/or, anything equally as disgraceful. God doesn’t like UGLY!
Incestuous when men think that you're used and abused; they devalue one and think it's okay to use and abuse her too. I feel so sad for this dirty, young woman who looked so much older than her age.
Seriously I’m fucking baffled a jury or judge allowed this sentence; what the absolute fuck; she was restrained from her father and sent to her grandmas but ebbed back up with him and then her father sold her body so he could pay for more meth and a place to stay then likely an argument started about the subject he killed the guy and she lies out of EXTREME trauma -grandma allowed her to go back to him?? -she was a minor for the first 3-4 years, where was the case worker??? -is it hard to imagine her only parental figure groomed her into thinking he was going to never be in her life again if she talked? I’m so pissed it’s so fked ; she likely was ra*** by her dad for more than 9 years
It all went downhill for her when she openly went to the station to answer some questions. 😂 Nah, all jokes aside it seems like as soon as her Father was granted custody she was doomed to lick Bubbas toes 👅

Fuck every single one of those detectives. The part beginning with "do you also realize it wasn't your fault?" brought me straight to tears. A commendable gentleman, that detective. Hearing someone acknowledge that it was not your fault is a very powerful experience for an SA victim.
When she asked “Do you have a recording of him saying?” She’s so scared of getting herself or her dad in trouble and she’s scared of telling and not getting help, getting sent right back to him.
Her father is disgusting!! She had been sexually abused all her life, and she thought what her dad did was loving compared to other rapists. Instead he abused her the most. Cause he was supposed to protect her!! What a cesspool he is!! Poor Melody.

@abcdeisthekey it's a bit different when the person is suspected of being missing/dead and you're being interviewed by police because you're a known close friend/accomplice. If you weren't guilty, you'd have no reason to assume the missing person was dead, so typically, people wouldn't use the past tense.

I understand the sentiment. But that wouldn't help the situation. This family is already choking in poverty. What everyone needs is help, and a lot of it.
@icemachine79 I understand what you're saying but it's this way of thinking that's allowed any and everyone that might could've made a difference in that girl's life and who knows maybe Jim still alive as well.. Poor Melody, being abused by old meth heads since birth, groomed by her father and sent to jail. She had no chance for a normal life, justice was not served here.
I felt so bad for her at the end, ridiculous she got 9 years in prison. She's 18, barely an "adult" and has been groomed and abused her whole life. Poor girl should've been let free, much less 9 years in prison because her family is evil.
Absolutely. Girl needs truckloads of therapy and psychiatric help and a ticket far away from that sad despicable place. Just surrounded by awful people and drugs. Life isn't easy, but being born into that life is something else.
I literally said Holy Shit, when I heard 9 years for obstruction. That's overkill. She should have been sentenced to a rehabilitation facility and given counseling. She was obviously in fear for her life when questioned by police during the initial encounter, seeing as a murdering rapist was within arms reach of her during those first interactions.

Another heartbreaking point in all of this was Melody’s explanation of why she did those things with her father. Something along the lines of: “Years before when men were on top of me… and you can’t push them off, they don’t listen when you say no. When I said no to my dad, he respected that.” (Not a direct quote but you get it.) That SCREAMS volumes. That poor girl has been assaulted for years, probably her whole life. Its just the fact everyone seemed to know that not only did her dad supply her with meth/ got her addicted, but he also started abusing her at age 16, and when she grew out of foster care- no one stepped in to help her. Not her mom, family, friends, no one. She was just left to go back to her father. I feel sick just hearing her talk about how her dad would stop when she said no, as if that’s any better? As if that shows how loving or nice he is compared to her other abusers. God I hope she’s healing alright, none of this was her fault. Its so sad that she even feels like any of this was her fault, and the fact she cared more about her dad than herself? Ugh, this world is horrible

They didn’t intervene when she was a kid, so obviously as an adult she rightfully thinks they don’t care about her and she only has her abusive father to feel safe & at home with. I even think they blame her for being sexually abused instead of the pedos and predators. Also brother, your comment is the same mentality of all those low lives who allowed a kid to be in that horrible circumstance. So she only trusted him enough to keep her safe & make her feel loved; when he was the same person who made her an accomplice to murder, used her as an excuse to kill a man, gave her meth at when she was a kid, abused her in that altered state of mind, & brainwashed her to think that its not only okay but theyre in love & everyone else is the problem. I don’t blame her for any of this, and I think she’s a victim who deserves the biggest apology because the system, her family, & her community failed her horribly

My heart breaks for Melody. Did all those men need to be in the room, her shackled, while she recounts years of horrifying sexual abuse? While I appreciate the detective telling her it wasn't her fault, I truly believe these types of defendants need to be handled with more consideration. Maybe a female detective and a trauma counselor? I, at 18, can't imagine telling a room full of men, while shackled, what was done to me as a child. It's horrifying. Her father's family is evil.
I do agree in theory, but it's never able to be guaranteed in practice. They have to protect themselves as well as her. Some abused kids are so twisted that they'll do anything to protect their abuser and try to get back to them. If there were fewer people in the room and she was still thinking her dad was right, she could accuse the interviewer of anything or become physically abusive herself if she felt cornered. Law enforcement is still a very male-heavy work environment, so there's no guarantee that there will be a female detective, let alone one who is trained to deal with this level of manipulation and abuse of this nature and longevity. With trauma this bad and deeply ingrained, you need someone who knows what they're doing. The wrong word or suggestion could traumatise further. I think that in an ideal world, it would be a female if that made Melody more comfortable, (they may even have asked - some women are more comfortable around men) but in reality, we should be glad that we have men and/or women with the strength to help people navigate the fucked up things they're manipulated into....be glad and aim for better in the future.
Female officers aren't always available. When they asked for picture evidence I asked for a female and they had to take me to the firehouse because they didn't have one. She was put in such a difficult situation to say the very least!! I feel so bad for her circumstances 😢 18 is so young honestly, and to think if she was being abused in any way she probably was mentally unstable and didn’t have a say in anything. Just living in a nightmare. 😢
9 years for that horribly abused young girl?!?! WTF?!? She needs to be sentenced to therapy. Used as a sex toy by several men since childhood and then as a result of being so well groomed by her FATHER that was......well......she didn't snitch because she thought she was in love with him?!? NINE YEARS IN PRISON!!!!!!
Well, yes and no. She's so far gone it can be considered a usual triangle murder. Yes there was incest and there was rape, but that's why she was placed in foster care in the first place. Despite what peoplemight say - this situation of "at home incest sex slavery" isn't normal , and had she asked for help normal people would have provided her help, even just strangers on the street. She made the choice to return, then she made the choice to participate in the story, as an adult, she chose to lie to other adults which could have helped her from the start. It sounds unfair, but you also have to think of the society and of the example releasing "passion" incestual criminals JUST because they're incestual? Where do we stop? Do we release the psychopaths because it's their brain which is making them commit crimes? It's not responsible and belittles everyone else in similar situations who had made the right choice. Edit: I'm more upset with the police not prosecuting every single individual there, because it was an obvious enabling environment and I bet their granddad/mother are habitual incestual rapists as well. I'm sure that in a decade we'll learn about the whole story from a DSM - 6 or from a Cambridge Handbook of Criminology, like the story of incestual rapist clan of 150-some people in Australian outback.
@@IvanDmitriev1Bro I dont think you have any idea what youre talking about when you say she could have walked away and that it belittles others who did
This is like a Hillbilly Horror Show. God damn, nobody should have to grow up around that nonsense. Everyone seemed in on what was going on between the father and daughter too and didn't say anything. Truly reprehensible.
Tired of hearing mothers say I know my son, when 75% of the time the mother is completly ignorance towards the child and the main root of there problems and thoughts
YES. Myself and all my friends have mothers that destroyed perfectly good families. Also mother always gets custody and financial support, from the state too
I know someone whose mom is crazy and abusive and unfortunately she's still in the family. He has quite severe stomach issues which sometimes also restrics his breathing. This probably comes from his mom's neglect, she'd leave him home alone for weeks when she'd randomly go on holiday. She left a bit of money which was not enough and he was 7/8/9/10 at the times it happened... he had to call his grandparents cause she didn't leave any keys and locked him in the house. She still laughs about how funny it was.
Holy crap, 8 years of prison for an abused, severely traumatised young girl, who was in desperate need for a home and therapy. Only because she did not dare to speak up immediatly, in the presence of her abuser. This is crazy. USA's justice system is fucked.
@nukkinfigure Let's call it what it is. In the eyes of those running things. The world is over populated and were just numbers at this point. Live, die, they don't care!

Wild and wonderful whites of west Virginia

You're so right.
They still could have taken a better approach I'm just saying unfortunately it needs to be an officer, and unfortunately not many females in law enforcement

She is guilty not a victim, she chose her lifestyle n to shut up
37:35 “Yeah it’s his daughter/girlfriend” was said in such a casual tone, as if it was the most normal thing…
I noticed right away by how desensitized and apathetic to everything being asked to her and everything that took place up to that point of murder. This girl had a horrific and traumatic childhood. Literally NOTHING freaked her out. So nonchelant. Her reaction and response to everything was the exact same as a bored kid listing off the chores she had to do on a sunday afternoon. I feel so bad for that poor girl.😢
She did have a very flat affect.
@@Suz4155 yes ma'am. You summed it up better than I did. Years of trauma numbed her basically.
You're dead on.
Completely DESENSITIZED to the reality of life
Sociopath.
"It smells like feet" somehow sounds worse than "it smells like a dead body"...
I thought that too lol 😂
Probably not to people that know the smell of a dead body
Rotted cheese and sweat
NAH FAX
What about $#!+?
"John plead the fifth. He didn't get in any legal trouble.'
Take notes people 😂
That’s exactly what I thought. Use your rights people
@teslergrids
No shit. I guess Mike's Mother was read Miranda rights because she was married to Frank and the officers were serving a search warrant....
I hope
I think they were all abusing her.
@@rachelcampbell2642I'm curious as to who the heavy man was that she couldn't push off her or say no too as he was too heavy. That last part of the interview leads me to think it wasn't just her dad maybe she was referring to Jim when she was saying that
@WelshAmethystGirl087 she was. "When my dad would start and I would say no he would respect that"
James is the only big boy in this story
I love your videos man keep up the good woy
Thank you for covering this case like this. The editing and restraint from over explaining is much appreciated. I wish more channels were so respectful to the viewers and the content they cover.
So glad they clarified that “Mike” is short for “Michael” and “Jim” is short for “James”.
this is why i love this channel, they word everything perfectly and gives every single detail that the case can offer
Both Mike and Jim can be names of their own though? Half a million Americans are named Mike, without any Michael stuff. Almost as many have the name Jim.
But how do you get Dick from Richard? ..... You ask him nicely ;)

To be honest I never knew jim was short for James
When I think about the hardships I face in my life, it's people like Melody that make me realize I have a very blessed life. This girl has lived a horrific life since birth, my heart breaks for people like her.
So true 😢
At least I have a normal and happy childhood....thank you mom and dad RIP 🤍🤍
Im 18 too, and to think that her entire life was ruined because she just became a legal adult after going through so much trauma and grooming is sickening. She’s a kid, she doesn’t deserve anything that happened to her at all.
